  • Patent number: 11991783
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves a wireless data service to a wireless User Equipment (UE). In the wireless communication network, a network controller receives a service request from a wireless UE and transfers a UE context request to a Unified Data Management (UDM). The UDM retrieves a subscriber profile for the wireless UE. The UDM identifies a wireless service type for the wireless UE and identifies a set of virtual Data Network Names (vDNNs) in the subscriber profile. The UDM selects one of the vDNNs for the wireless UE based on the wireless service type of the wireless UE. The UDM indicates the selected one of the vDNNs to the network controller. The network controller overrides provisioned DNN values using the selected one of the vDNNs. The network controller establishes a wireless data session for the wireless UE based on the selected one of the vDNNs.

  • Patent number: 11991536
Abstract: The technology described herein selects an optimal multiplexing technology to use for a communication session. The optimal technology will minimize the probability of a disruption (e.g., a dropped call) during a communication session. A multiplexing decision process may be implemented when a user equipment (UE) is not capable of transitioning between two different multiplexing technologies and is located in a geographic area where networks using two different multiplexing technologies are available. In one aspect, the selection of an optimal multiplexing technology considers the network context at a time when the communication session is initiated, the UE's context (e.g., location near network edge, mobility profile), a device profile for the UE model, the UE history, and usage history for the user of the UE.

  • Patent number: 11985540
Abstract: The technology described herein reduces control-plane overloading by transferring UEs from the overloaded control plane to another available control plane. At a high level, the technology identifies when a control plane is overloaded, identifies other available control planes in a geographic area served by the overloaded control plane, and then identifies UEs for transfer using one or more criteria. Initially, a measure of control-plane performance for a control plane is received. Next, a determination is made that the control plane is overloaded by comparing the measure of control-plane performance to an overload threshold. When an overload condition exists for a control plane, then UEs with existing communication sessions using the control plane are identified for transfer.

  • Patent number: 11985561
Abstract: Restricting mobility between networks by identifying and rejecting incoming mobility events (e.g. handovers) from unknown cell sites based on a cellID included in a handover request. Core network nodes e.g. MME, AMF, SMF, can detect and reject the incoming mobility events by comparing Cell ID with a white list or referring to a database. This improves over current 3GPP specifications and network vendor implementations that support restriction policies on the source but not on the target.

  • Patent number: 11974166
Abstract: According to aspects herein, methods and systems for time division duplexing (TDD) management in New Radio (NR) are provided. The method begins with determining if a cell site has heavy uplink use. This can be shown by the cell site using a heavy uplink TDD pattern, which is indicative of users transmitting more data then they receive. Once a cell site has been found to have heavy uplink use, a list of neighboring cell sites is retrieved. The neighboring cell sites may be analyzed to determine if they have heavy downlink use. The method then proceeds to determine if the neighboring cell sites with heavy downlink use can be downlink blanked. Downlink blanking on the neighboring cell sites may then be turned on.
