  • Patent number: 10758679
Abstract: A cartridge interface assembly drives a stopper in a drug reservoir or a drug delivery device. An anti-rotational guide optionally moves along an axis of a cavity of the reservoir. The anti-rotational guide is optionally slidably anti-rotationally coupled to a housing of the drug delivery device. A telescoping plunger driver may include a proximal shaft and distal shaft that telescope by relative rotation. The distal shaft is optionally slidably anti-rotationally coupled to the anti-rotational guide. The shafts are optionally oriented along said axis. In some embodiments, rotating the proximal shaft with respect to the anti-rotational guide moves the guide along said axis with respect to the housing and moves the distal shaft along the axis with respect to the anti-rotational guide.

  • Publication number: 20200164151
Abstract: An injection assembly includes a housing with a barrel positioned within the housing. The barrel includes an axis extending from a proximal end to a distal end thereof and a chamber for storing medicine. An elongate anti-rotation shaft is rotationally fixed to the housing and has a non-circular cross-section. The injection assembly includes an inner screw having an inner screw opening to complementarily receive the anti-rotation shaft to prevent rotation of the inner screw with respect to the anti-rotation shaft but allow respective linear translation along the axis. An outer screw is positioned within, and rotatable with respect to, the housing and has an outer screw opening to threadably receive the inner screw, wherein rotation of the outer screw translates the inner screw along the axis and along the anti-rotation shaft. A plunger is coupled to the distal end of the inner screw and is moveable with respect to the chamber to push the medicine out of the chamber when the outer screw is rotated.

  • Patent number: 10610639
Abstract: A needle insertion and retraction mechanism for a drug delivery device, comprises a motion source, a user-operated control for the motion source, an interrupter for stopping motion of the motion source at a predetermined location and thereby dividing the motion into two parts which are continuous relative to each other. A motion translation mechanism connects the source of continuous motion to a needle, to extend the needle during the first motion part and to retract the needle during the second motion part. The needle is thus extended and retracted by continued operation of a single tension source rather than two tension sources operating in opposition to each other. The motion source may be a spring, and a winding mechanism may be provided to wind the spring. The second motion part may be initiated by pulling the adhered delivery device from the skin.
