  • Patent number: 5495973
Abstract: A pneumatically operated nail gun having a safety device which prevents a trigger lever from being accidentally manipulated. The gun has a nail guide movably disposed over a bit guide. A movable segment having a pipe-shaped portion and an arm portion formed integrally therewith is provided. The pipe-shaped portion is disposed movably in the nail guide, and the arm portion is movable in a slit of the nail guide. The arm portion is coupled to the safety arm whose end portion is engageable with the trigger lever. A spring is provided to urge the safety arm in a direction to maintain engagement between the end portion and the trigger lever. When the nail inserted in the nail guide is depressed onto the workpiece, the pipe-shaped portion moves against the biasing force of the spring, so that the end portion of the safety arm disengages from the trigger lever, whereupon the trigger lever can be operated.

  • Patent number: 5492042
Abstract: A device is disclosed for use in cutting specific lengths from the end of a shaft, specifically the shaft of a golf club. It includes a base that allows the user to affix the device to a table or support surface and a support block that can be rotated in relation to the table where the axis of rotation is parallel to and fixed in relation to the table. The support block has a calibrated stop rod, a handle to facilitate the rotation, a shaft or workpiece cradle, and a cutting slot that extends through the cradle in the support block. The calibrated stop rod is held in the desired position by a threaded rod being turned and thus urged against it when the desired cutting length is indicated by calibrating marks or indicia thereon. The shaft is then placed in the cradle and the device is rotated such that a cutting blade moves through the cutting slot, severing the shaft at the desired point.

  • Patent number: 5490636
Abstract: A rotary jaw crusher comprises a rotor, which carries at least one revolving jaw and rotates within a housing about a horizontal axis of rotation, and a stationary jaw, which is fixed to the housing and is substantially disposed above the descending portion of the flight circle of the rotor and rises toward the charging opening of the housing opposite to the sense of rotation of the rotor with a small inclination from the horizontal and is provided with crushing bars or the like, which protrude toward the rotor. In order to achieve a high efficiency and a low susceptibility to wear, crushing bars having sharp edges are provided on the stationary jaw and extend approximately normal to the axis of rotation of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 5488772
Abstract: A u-channel nail clipping catcher case is provided herein for use with nail clipper, the case is made of rubber (elastic). It includes a floor, two side walls, back end, partial ceiling and a small lip at each top end of the walls. A new clipper design is introduced. It eliminate the use of the center pin in the regular design and uses a sliding pivot into slots within the side walls. The new design is to be used with the mentioned rubber catcher. Modifications on the regular nail clipper design are suggested to adopt the new catcher and achieve effective clipper catcher combination.

  • Patent number: 5474222
Abstract: In the course of the upward turning movement of the magazine, the lowermost sheet of staples is taken from the staple cartridge as the feeding member is slidably displaced in the forward direction. Since the thrusting force given by the tension spring is sufficiently larger than the frictional resistance present between the lower surface of the lowermost sheet of staples and the feeding member, each sheet of staples can be more reliably taken from a staple cartridge. As the magazine is turned in an upward direction, a feeding member is displaced in the forward direction by the resilient force of a tension spring, and a contact portion on the feeding member comes in contact with the rear end of the lowermost sheet of staples.

  • Patent number: 5472148
Abstract: In a grinding mill, a polymeric filler material is molded into the rectangular or prismatic recesses in a metallic or ceramic lining. In a grinding mill where longitudinally extending elongate ribs of the lining have two different radial thicknesses or heights, with relatively narrow bars and relatively thick bars alternating with one another, the filler material is initially cast to have a cylindrical or undulating inner surface. Where the surface is cylindrical, the filler material is worn away during use of the grinding mill and gradually conforms to the alternating narrow and thick bars to assume an undulating inner surface. Supplemental lifter bars may be embedded in the grid and rubber filler material during the casting process. Where the lining is assembled from elongate wedge-shaped metallic or ceramic bas and spacers, the bars and spacers are provided in modular forms with the spacers as wing-like extensions on the bars. Ceramic or other hard particles are embedded in the filler material.

  • Patent number: 5452514
Abstract: A fruit cutting apparatus comprises a handle having a hollow bore, a two-part blade assembly supported at the end of the handle and a plunger axially supported in the bore of the handle for axial sliding movement at the end of the handle opposite to that of the blade assembly. The blade assembly has sharpened peripheral edges and terminates in a sharpened tip to facilitate penetration of the blade assembly into the interior of a piece of fruit. An actuating assembly connected between the plunger and the blade assembly causes the two parts thereof to extend laterally between a first inactivated position and a second activated position. The outwardly facing peripheral edges of the blade parts are arcuately shaped so that when the blades are actuated to the second activated position, a thin circular transverse cut may be made internally of the piece of fruit after penetration of the blade assembly therein.
