  • Patent number: 8493953
Abstract: A method and apparatus for mitigating multi-user interference in reception of a code division multiple access (CDMA) signal is described. The CDMA signal has a plurality of spread user symbol streams, each spread by a corresponding one of a plurality of spreading codes. Estimated symbols are iteratively improved by forming a reconstructed signal from the estimated symbols, subtracting the reconstructed signal from the CDMA signal to create a difference signal, and adjusting the estimated symbols based on a combination of the difference signal and the estimated symbols.

  • Patent number: 8488585
Abstract: There is provided a mobile station that minimizes a pause or a silent period during communication at the time of a reconnection process of communication, thereby to improve the user's convenience and achieve the reduction in the load applied onto the communication network or the mobile station. When an out of synchronization detection unit 4 of a mobile station 2 detects out of synchronization, an individual timer value determination unit 53 selects two or more timer value change triggers from timer value change triggers stored in a timer value change trigger memory 51, and then determines the timer values respectively for the timer value change triggers that have been selected, based upon the determination rules stored in an individual timer value determination rule memory 52. A reconnection timer value calculation unit 54 calculates an appropriate reconnection timer value based upon the two or more individual timer values that have been determined by the individual timer value determination unit 53.

  • Patent number: 8489690
Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium for providing a subscription to an e-mail message thread via a mobile device. A user may subscribe to an e-mail message thread utilizing a mobile device, based on a unique e-mail thread ID associated with the e-mail thread within the e-mail message itself. Updated data regarding the e-mail message thread can then be provided in response to activity associated with the e-mail message thread. The updated data can be provided in the form of, for example, a text message, a text-to-speech voicemail message, and so forth. Additionally, a telephone number associated with the mobile device can be added to a database stored in an e-mail server that manages the e-mail message and the e-mail message thread in order to subscribe to the e-mail message via a mobile device. SMS data associated with the user can also be added to the database.

  • Patent number: 8488530
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for dynamic channel assignment (DCA) in a wireless network, which describes the complex channel assignment problem with a decoding problem. The invention describes the decoding problem with a normal graph and specifies all the local rules enforced by all the nodes at access point sides and subscriber sides. Then, the invention carries out the sum-product algorithm to solve the DCA. It is not only a fully-distributed low-complexity DCA technology, but also significantly increases the network throughput. The invention further adopts the concept of subscriber exclusive region to guarantee the link quality between a subscriber and an access point.

Abstract: Method for received signal strength-based direction-of-arrival location estimation for wireless target in an indoor environment is disclosed. The method can use just one DOA sensor node with three antennas, configured substantially in the center of a predetermined confined indoor space. Packet signals can be transmitted by DOA sensor node to the wireless target, and vice versa, where each packet comprising of a fixed sensor node cover range. RSSI values are obtained for the respective RSSI states received from the wireless target at incident angles ? using the triangular antenna array, a 1P2T switch, and a vector signal deconstructor (VSD). A location (?, ?) of the localized object is calculated using a RSS-based DOA algorithm. A RSS to DOA localization system using the above method is also disclosed.
