  • Patent number: 4340232
Abstract: A game is played by opposing players on an apparatus having a plurality of sets of movable playing pieces. The game board may have an abacus-like structure. The method of using the game board assigns hierarchical values to playing pieces on either side of a central divider, the playing pieces being movable from an open to an active position and vice versa. The board structure provides means for withdrawing a number of playing pieces from a set in an active position subsequent to a confrontation with an opposing set in accordance with the established hierarchy. At the conclusion of play the player having the largest number of remaining active playing pieces is determined to be the winner.

  • Patent number: 4327919
Abstract: A board game is described comprising a playing board and a set of playing pieces for each player. The playing board is divided into a rectangular matrix of squares having a central undivided rectangular area which is of such dimensions that the spaces between the outer boundaries of the central area and of the matrix squares are occupied by rows of at least two matrix squares. A set of playing pieces is provided for each player, each set including at least three different types of playing pieces carrying markings indicating different strengths relative to each other. Thus, one type indicates "scissors" which is stronger than the second type indicating "paper", which is stronger than the third type indicating "stone", the third type being in turn stronger than the first type (scissors).

  • Patent number: 4323248
Abstract: A board game includes a board and chance-taking means for determining in random manner the play of game cards. Four separate chance-taking means are included as part of the game apparatus, each chance-taking means dealing with a separate category such as shape, color, number, or letter. A plurality of directional cards are placed at the center of the game board and, when drawn, control the direction of player movements about the board. The board includes indicia indicative of various directions in which player movements can be made. Each player is dealt a plurality of play cards having indicia on their faces representative of different shapes, colors, numbers, and letters. The basic object of the game is to rid oneself of all play cards. By sequential activation of the separate chance-taking means, each player moves to different positions on the board where the taking or discarding of additional cards is required.

  • Patent number: 4323126
Abstract: A method for preparing a field which has crop residue rows for subsequent row crop planting comprises cutting a plurality of furrows between crop residue rows and lifting and turning over the soil from the furrows into ridges, and simultaneously scraping over a plurality of crop residue rows and transferring the residue into the furrows which are being simultaneously cut, and wherein the former step forms the ridges on surfaces that are simultaneously being cleared by the latter step. The method is accomplished by tillage apparatus including a horizontal frame, a plurality of furrow cutting moldboards affixed to the frame and being curved to lift and turn over the soil cut from the furrows into ridges, and a plurality of trash boards affixed to the frame diagonally to the crop rows and in alternate relation to the moldboards and being curved to transfer the crop residue removed thereby into the furrows being simultaneously cut by the moldboards.

  • Patent number: 4319754
Abstract: The specification of the present invention discloses a game board apparatus which allows two parties to efficiently play numerous games in which both parties move simultaneously and the observation of the opponent's playing surface is limited. The apparatus includes two parallel upright members with a removable shield disposed between these members. Blocking means are also provided for each upright member to selectively limit the observable area of the opposite upright portion when the shield is removed. According to an aspect of the invention, specialized playing pieces are provided which co-operate with said blocking and are engagable with the upright members such that a portion of the playing piece is visible when the blocking means is closed, thus simplifying the recordal of game data.

  • Patent number: 4314552
Abstract: The chiropractic table of the present invention includes a base frame, an intermediate frame above the base frame, and a table frame above the intermediate frame. A plurality of independently movable support pieces are mounted to the table frame and extend above the table frame to provide a support surface for the patient. The table may be tilted about a horizontal axis from a horizontal position to a near vertical position. It may also be elevated or lowered when in its horizontal position. One or more of the support pieces include a cock and drop feature which permits the chiropractor to elevate the piece to a predetermined height. The chiropractor then places downward pressure on the patient at a point directly above the support piece which has been elevated. A system of cams and cam followers hold the elevated piece in its upper position until the pressure reaches a predetermined magnitude, at which time the support piece is released and drops to its original position.

  • Patent number: 4309037
Abstract: A game to be played by two players using a board and various pieces. The board is comprised of 3 similar areas, each area a 10.times.10 grid. One board is a "battlefield" over which each player moves a plurality of pieces in an attempt to capture those of the opponent. Each of the other two boards is a "palace", one "palace" belonging to each player. One of each player's pieces moves over each "palace" area, these pieces moving simultaneously with the movement of certain pieces over the "battlefield" area. Paths are designated on each area to limit piece movement. To win, a player must capture his opponents piece within the player's "palace".

  • Patent number: 4306724
Abstract: A board game apparatus is provided which combines advantageous features from business and crossword games, as well as other games. A board is provided which includes an inner area divided up into spaces for accommodating formation of words from letter pieces. Surrounding the inner area are a plurality of spaces defining a travel path for player pieces, which spaces include indicia referring the players landing thereon to respective bonus, penalty and category cards which will control their next step in forming words in the center area. Play money certificates are utilized to accumulate the player's scores, based upon the letter value of words formed, and also to accommodate purchase of additional letters under certain conditions, as well as penalty payments. The throw of dice control the movement of the player pieces along the outer portion of the board.

  • Patent number: 4302016
Abstract: A board game method involving community development skills between parcels of land and diverse structural improvements thereon with respect to income, expense, and financing thereof during successive time periods of indefinite duration wherein selective positional association of markers of varying sizes and characters upon uniform land areas has a direct bearing on relative success or failure in boom or bust periods. The periods during which action is taken vary randomly throughout utilization of the game device, thus enabling continuous application of strategy and skill in acquiring and arranging land parcels and markers thereon to cope successfully with the unexpected end of a time period.

  • Patent number: 4296928
Abstract: An interplanetary conflict game comprises a game board having first indicia thereon which are symbolic of the solar system and include planets, stars, and travel routes between the stars. The gameboard also includes a second indicia to determine the distance between the stars. A plurality of rocket markers for each player are manually moved by a player between the stars and planets and are used to fire at an opponent player's rocket or to capture an opponent's planet. A group of rating spheres used in conjunction with each rocket marker indicate the numerical rating of the rocket markers. A firing chart determines a firing range between a players rocket and an opponent's rocket. A promotion chart is used for determining the proper rating sphere for the rocket markers. A legend chart indicates the number of moves for a rocket marker as indicated by its rating sphere.
