  • Patent number: 4241924
Abstract: A board game which simulates olympic athletic events by utilizing a pair of dice for selecting one of a set of cards which determines the number of points scored for a particular athletic event. The game includes a playing board having a plurality of concentrically increasing scoring areas, one of which represents a penalty area and the other of which represents multiplier areas. A series of event playing stations are formed peripherally around the playing board with each playing station identified by a particular athletic event. A set of cards is associated with each of the event playing stations. Each card within a set has one side identified with the particular athletic event of the associated station. The other side of each card within the set contains a particular playing condition and point achievement score. A pair of dice is used to select one of the cards from a particular set. Scoring sheets are utilized for tabulating the scores. The events are listed on each one of the scoring sheets.

  • Patent number: 4231577
Abstract: Two playing boards with a matrix array of apertures are positioned so that one board only is displayed to each player. Electric circuitry including contacts are printed on one side of a flexible sheet which is folded so that contacts face each other adjacent each of the apertures. The circuitry is arranged so that the insertion of plugs into corresponding apertures of the two boards moves the contacts carried on the sheet towards each other to close a circuit energizing an audible signal generator.

  • Patent number: 4227696
Abstract: A board game comprises a board containing a plurality of playing areas which contiguously form diagonal rows. A plurality of sets of pieces are positioned on the playing areas and are movable thereon. Each piece includes an indicator which, when oriented in the direction of one of the rows toward a piece of the other set, places the latter piece under attack. Each piece originally is oriented on its associated playing area out of the direction of the rows so as to be unable to place a piece of the other set under attack. Each playing area has a smaller attack area therein oriented at an angle relative to the playing area and corresponding in shape to the pieces. Accordingly, when a piece is turned to an attack position, it is aligned with the attack area. The sets of pieces are initially set up on the playing areas to form mutually facing pyramids with the front piece of one pyramid laterally offset relative to the front piece of the other pyramid.

  • Patent number: 4226419
Abstract: A chess type game played by two players on a playing board having 64 squares. Each player has four rectangular pieces called North, South, East, and West and a number of three different colored pins. Each piece has four directional vectors, an orientation indicator, and five pin openings in its head. Each piece can move in four directions as indicated by the vectors and the movement of each piece is different from the movement of another piece. Three basic play actions are score, restrict movement, and force movement. A game objective of scoring a specified number of time on the playing pieces of the opponent, scoring one time on opponent's special playing piece, or capturing the opponent's special playing piece is selected before play by the players. Special rules to accompany the selected game objective may also be selected before play by the players. The game may vary depending on the selected game objective and the special rules selected for the game by the players.

  • Patent number: 4225138
Abstract: A gameboard which has a circular path defined thereon for a tortoise with a guide ring to guide the circular travel path of the tortoise. In addition, a tortuous path is provided for movement of rabbits. The tortuous path is composed of plural sections or spaces of different colors, the path also including reward and penalty spaces. The tortoise includes an interior standard spring motor which when wound drives a shaft which includes a drive wheel at one end positioned beneath the tortoise and a ball tumbler including a plurality of different colored balls and a window or windows positioned above the tortoise. The tortoise also includes a depending plate so that the tortoise is supported by means of a pair of spaced dimples on the plate and the drive wheel. When the spring motor has been wound up and the tortoise place on its path, the drive wheel will rotate and cause the tortoise to traverse the circular path, guided by the guide ring.

  • Patent number: 4224996
Abstract: A "dead man" control mechanism for controlling the propel and tiller drive of a walk-behind rotary tiller includes a flexible control element which extends between and has opposite ends looped about respective Z-shaped crank portions of a control rod and of a belt drive idler pulley arm. When the control rod is operator-held in a drive-engage position, wherein a grip portion of the control rod is gripped together with a grip portion of a handle of the tiller, the control element is tensioned such as to hold an idler pulley, carried by the idler arm, in slack-removing engagement with a slack run of a belt trained about drive and driven pulleys. Upon the operator releasing the grip portion of the control rod, the latter gravitates to a drive-disengage position wherein the control element is slackened such as to permit the idler pulley to move to permit the slack run of the drive belt to slacken to the extent that torque is no longer transferred between the drive and driven pulleys.

  • Patent number: 4221389
Abstract: Game apparatus for a game which has a board representing a battlefield divided into a plurality of spaces to receive game pieces. The spaces are in a rectangular grid having a first pair of oppositely disposed margins having adjacent spaces representing trenches, and a second pair of oppositely disposed margins having adjacent spaces representing gun positions. Gun pieces located in the gun positions are oriented before firing so that their range is unknown to the opponent and pairs of guns can be interchanged before the guns have been fired, which is a realistic representation of a battlefield situation. Some spaces on the board are designated as being within range of a particular type of gun and tank pieces moving along the board from one trench towards the other trench are subjected to gun fire from an opponent's guns, if he so desires, when positioned on a particular space within range of a particular gun.

  • Patent number: 4211408
Abstract: A figure unit for a game has a figure disposed on a disc that is secured to a self-righting cup. The disc is connected to the cup by a connection that is concealed within the cup. For that purpose, the disc is provided with a spigot that protrudes down into the cup and engages a socket inside the cup. Preferably the socket is a hollow cylinder that extends upwardly from the cup's bottom and preferably the socket is split longitudinally to form flexible segments that grip the spigot. In one embodiment, an annular metal ring is placed around the socket near the bottom of the cup to limit spreading of the segments when the spigot is engaged in the socket and to act as a ballast weight for righting the cup. To cause the segments to more firmly grip the spigot, a spring clip can be placed around the socket to make the segments clamp around the spigot.
