  • Patent number: 11894681
Abstract: A system and method are provided for damping power system oscillations in a power system network having one or more local inverter-based generators within a plant, the plant connected to a grid at a point of intersection (POI). The system and method include a plant-level controller or local controller that receives one or more grid signals having a characteristic indicative of a power system oscillation. The plant-level controller or local controller generates an auxiliary signal from the grid signals that is used by the local controller of the inverter-based generators. At the local controller, the auxiliary signal is used to modulate reactive power output from the inverter-based generator to change a voltage at the POI, the voltage change damping the power system oscillations.

  • Patent number: 11881713
Abstract: Advanced Distribution Management Systems not generally optimize over the entire feeder because there are few high-fidelity distribution circuit models and real-time distribution-connected sensors are rare. The limited observability at the distribution level makes it difficult to globally optimize distribution operations and issue control setpoints to power systems equipment or Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to perform grid-support services. For example, setpoints can be issued to DER based on results from an optimization module that incorporates a static or time-series feeder simulation. Feeder simulation initial conditions are populated with photovoltaic (PV) and load forecasts, state estimation results, and/or digital twin measurements or state output. The real-time (RT) digital twin runs a model of the feeder to generate state estimation pseudo-measurements since there are limited live feeder measurements.

  • Patent number: 11874640
Abstract: A wind power prediction method and system for optimizing a deep Transformer network by whale optimization algorithm are disclosed. The sequence data of wind power and related influence factors are taken as sample data which is divided into a training set and a test set, where the data is trained and predicted by a Transformer network model established according to values of the initialized hyper-parameters, and an average absolute error of wind power prediction is taken as a fitness value of each whale group. A local optimal position is determined according to the initial fitness value of individual whale group, and the current optimal position is updated by utilizing whale group optimization, and the best prediction effect is obtained by comparing the local optimal solution with the global optimal solution. An optimal hyper-parameter combination is obtained after multiple iterations of the whale optimization algorithm, and the wind power is predicted.
