  • Patent number: 11444473
Abstract: Various embodiments charges battery for a renewable energy source. In one embodiment, a forecast having a plurality of predetermined time intervals with a predicted energy input level of the renewable energy source corresponding to each predetermined time interval is received. A setpoint is calculated for each predetermined time interval for an amount of power available to charge the battery based on the forecast. The battery is charged during a predetermined time interval according to its corresponding setpoint. An actual energy input level of the renewable energy source is monitored and compared to the predicted energy input level for its corresponding time interval to determine a lesser energy input level. The lesser energy input level is set as the setpoint for the corresponding predetermined time interval.

  • Patent number: 11418029
Abstract: A monitoring system includes in-field measurement devices adapted to generate measurement data of a power supply network, and a processing unit adapted to process the measurement data using a local network state estimation model to calculate local network state profiles used to generate a global network state profile. • Patent number: 11387651
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for coordinating volt-var control between sub-transmission and distribution systems. Distributed energy resources of a distribution system are aggregated into virtual power plants from which reactive power can optimally be dispatched to the sub-transmission system. A sub-transmission controller executes a volt-var AC optimal power flow optimisation function to minimize voltage fluctuations that might otherwise occur when coordinating with a distribution system having distributed energy resources. The distribution system can use a sensitivity matrix for regulating voltage at distribution feeders while fulfilling a transmission or sub-transmission system's demand requests.

  • Patent number: 11362518
Abstract: In one embodiment, a first electrical network includes one or more first electricity producing elements, and a first conductive path electrically couples at least some of those elements to an end user's electrical wiring, which is coupled by a second conductive path to one or more second electricity producing elements of a public utility electrical network. A switch coupled between the first conductive path and the end user's electrical wiring and between the second conductive path and the end user's electrical wiring electrically isolates the first electrical network from the public utility electrical network. Based on a determination of whether an amount of electricity used by the end user exceeds an amount of electricity the first electrical network is capable of providing to the end user, the switch either draws electricity only from the first electrical network or from both the first electrical network and the public utility electrical network.
