Abstract: A sports band for absorbing perspiration and for cooling the wearer is comprised of a band of elastic absorbent material, generally toroidal in shape, and is configured to be worn upon a person's head or wrist. The sports band has a slit formed upon its inner surface such that a flexible cold pack may be received thereby and disposed within the band. The sports band may alternatively be generally comprised of a comparatively inelastic material and have a strip of elastic material inserted as a portion of the band to provide the required stretchability. A layer of insulating material may optionally be formed along the inner layer of the generally toroidal band to reduce the rate of heat transfer between the wearer and the cold pack such that the sensation of cold is reduced and the useful life of the cold pack is increased.
Abstract: A sweatband and earphone system utilizing a head sweatband preferably formed of an elastic fabric having internal pockets defined therein for receiving earphones connected to a radio or tape player. The sweatband comfortably and securely maintains the earphones upon the wearer's ears, and the sweatband includes stretchable openings permitting the earphones to be readily inserted and removed.

Abstract: A protective plastic insert is provided for a conventional golf cap. The insert is substantially hemispherical and is engagable within the cap. The cap is size adjustable. The insert adapts to the size change of the cap. Thus a single size insert fits most golf caps. The shape and hardness of the plastic protect the wearer against the impact of a stray golf ball.
Abstract: A fabric-covered foam rubber pad that is in a semicircular shape with a small slot gap in the center of the foam rubber pad that provides a hinge to allow it to easily fold in half and provide room for the sizing strap of a baseball-style cap. Hooh-and-loop fasteners are attached to one side of the structure so that when placed up, under, and over a baseball-style cap's sizing strap it can be folded in half and secured in place.

Abstract: A fabric hat which is usable as such by a child and is also convertible into a flying play object that can be thrown and caught in the manner of a Frisbee. The fabric hat is formed by a pair of dome-shaped sections, one nested within the other to define the crown of the hat, the circular rims of the sections being joined to an annular disc defining the brim of the hat. To convert the hat into a flying object, a toy balloon in its collapsed state is inserted through a port in one of the sections into a space between the sections. The balloon is then inflated to transform the crown into a ball encircled at its equator by the annular disc, whereby the resultant flying object can then be thrown and caught. The hat is packaged in a two-ply display card whose front ply has a circular opening therein through which the crown projects, the shorter rear ply having an arcuate indentation that matches a corresponding portion of the opening.
Abstract: The including of an engagable flange with an article of human wearing apparel, such as a cap, that has a specific exterior ornamental configuration. An elongated, illuminatable, plastic, light tube, which includes an elongated resilient gap, is to be snapped onto the flange formed on the wearing apparel and is to be snugly retained thereon. The light tube is to be flexible so as to accommodate to the specific shape of flange. The illuminatable tube includes a liquid which is to be activatable which will cause the tube to glow for a period of time. Also, the body of the tube will contain a separate light activatable substance which can be used to cause the tube to emit light after expiration of the light from the liquid.
Abstract: An emblem bearing cap attachment has a substantially planar, relatively stiff body defining a forward surface and a rearward surface. A primary crease extends centrally across the planar body defining an upper facing panel and a lower backing panel. The primary crease facilitates folding of the body about and capturing the band of a baseball style cap to position the rearward surface of the facing panel in confronting relationship with the inside surface of the crown rearward portion whereat are fastening means to secure the backing panel to the cap. The facing panel allows the display of emblems or other indicia thereon whether the facing panel is folded upwardly or downwardly.
Abstract: A garment in the form of a vest of jacket comprises a pair of front panels attached to either side of a back portion. The panels define a pair of opposed front edges, each of which is contiguous with one of two bottom edge segments. A vertical bifurcation is formed in the lower part of the back section, defined between a pair of bifurcation edges, each of which is contiguous with one of the bottom edge segments. A first zipper is provided, which, when closed, joins the front panel edges to each other, the bottom edge segments to each other, and the bifurcation edges to each other. When the first zipper is so closed, and the garment is turned inside-out, a bag is formed, with the closed zipper defining a closed bag bottom and closed bag ends, the bag having a top opening defined between a pair of opposed top edges.
Abstract: A detachable plaque for a cap having a visor and an adjoining crown portion is provided. The plaque generally comprises a flexible plastic sheet-like member having a live hinge or crease which defines a boundary between an upper portion of the sheet-like member and the lower portion of the sheet-like member, a first coupling or mating device incorporated on the upper portion of the sheet-like member for detachably engaging a mating member on the crown portion of the cap, and a second coupling or mating device incorporated on the lower portion of the sheet-like member for detachably engaging a second mating member on the visor of the cap. The first and second coupling means may be snaps and/or snap receivers, sockets and/or domed plugs, Velcro hook and/or loop fasteners, etc. In accord with one embodiment of the invention, the flexible plastic sheet has an aperture in at least the upper portion for receiving a piece of cardboard or paper on which a message or information is printed.
Abstract: A firefighter coat having an outer shell which includes body and collar portions, an inner thermal liner having body and collar portions, and a hood including a rear portion having strips of hook and loop fastener material, located on opposing surfaces, for engaging complementary strips of hook and loop fastener material located on adjacent surfaces of the outer and inner collar portions. The hood includes a front bib for protecting the neck of the wearer and which includes tabs of fastener material for attachment to the outer collar portion. The hood may be carried on the back of the coat when not worn, or removed from the coat entirely, wherein the strips of fastener material on the inner and outer collar portions join the collar portions together to make a complete collar for the coat.
Abstract: An improved camouflage system is provided which consists of a garment worn by a person, and a structure is for producing an effective camouflage. A mechanism is for attaching the camouflage structure in slightly overlapping rows to the garment for concealment of a body part of the person wearing the garment which will create the illusion of trees, shrubs and other foliage in a three dimensional effect to blend into the terrain environment.
Abstract: An athletic support short is made of resilient, stretchable fabric and has an interior pouch extending between a waistband and the bottom of the crotch to receive a hard, protective cup. The pouch has an opening at its top and a releasable closure for retaining the cup. The top and bottom of the pouch are secured to the rest of the short, but the pouch is free of attachment to the rest of the short between the top and the bottom of the pouch.
Abstract: A firefighter's garment as disclosed herein may be a coat or trousers or a vest. The garment has an outer layer, an intermediate layer, and an inner layer. A spacer element or elements are positioned between two of the layers of the garment. The spacer element or elements in the firefighter's garment establish and maintain an air space or air spaces between the layers of the garment, even when localized pressure or weight is applied to portions of the garment. Thus, the firefighter's garment has excellent heat insulation qualities without being heavy and/or bulky. Thus, a firefighter wearing the garment is continually protected and is subject to minimum stress and is able to work more effectively than a firefighter wearing a firefighter's conventional garment.
