  • Patent number: 4620463
Abstract: Production of a substantially constant wall thickness in every cross section on cylindrical tubular parts produced for example by extrusion and rolling. The process of the invention comprises determining, by means of a suitable apparatus, the position of the center of the internal contour of a cross section of the tubular part, then rotating one with respect to the other a machining tool and the part about the axis of said internal contour and moving the machining tool towards the part until, over the periphery of said cross section, a constant wall thickness which is equal at most to the minimum thickness is obtained, and then repeating those operations on the successive desired sections of the tube, which are parallel to the first section.

  • Patent number: 4620574
Abstract: A manually-operated terminal wire connecting tool having an eccentric cam pivot for adjusting the degree of contact between gear rack assembly and rotating drive assembly. The eccentric cam allows for selective adjustment of contact between gear rack and rotatable drive assembly. Machining tolerances in manufacture of the tools are thereby increased and, in addition, consumers can compensate for gear wear over the life of the tool.

  • Patent number: 4619132
Abstract: A method of aligning a spring vehicle door without removing the door from its hinge and door frame comprises opening the vehicle door, positioning a prying tool having a head member for engaging the hinge between the door and door frame, engaging a portion of the hinge in the head member, and rotating the tool in a direction of closure of the door so as to bend one of the hinge and door frame to a predetermined alignment position. A vehicle door aligning tool for carrying out the aforementioned method comprises a specialized form of handle and head member. The handle is arranged to extend laterally behind the vehicle door when the head member is fitted on the hinge. The handle includes an elongated handle portion and a relatively much shorter end portion obtusely angled from the handle portion. The head member is J-shaped to define a channel normal to the handle portion for receiving an exposed margin or flange of a vehicle door hinge mount to rigidly engage the hinge mount.

  • Patent number: 4619637
Abstract: In an in-line converting machine, flat carton blanks are thrust into a rotary former. The former includes a mandrel over which the carton is partially formed as the former rotates through 180.degree.. Thereafter, the carton is thrust off the former by a kicker bar and into a hopper where the carton nests with previously-formed cartons. The nesting cams the glued carton panels together, thereby completing the formation of the carton.

  • Patent number: 4618296
Abstract: A cutting tool, for example a milling cutter, capable of omini-directional machining of a workpiece as disclosed. In a preferred form, the cutting tool is embodied as a ball nosed end mill having a cylindrical shank terminating in a spherically shaped cutting end with recesses shaped for receipt of at least two indexable cutting inserts, each insert mounted in lay-down fashion, and providing a portion of an effective overall arcuate cutting edge, the cutting zones of each insert overlapping each other. Each insert has the form of an equilateral polygon bounded by planar flanks, each flank intersecting a convex portion of a major face of an insert to form an arcuate cutting edge. The convex major face portion forms the clearance face and the planar flank portion the rake face for each associated arcuate cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 4618342
Abstract: A machine including a feeding group or station, a first rotative cutting or creasing station, a second rotative cutting or creasing station and a rotative stripping station characterized by a single drive motor driving the various rotating tools of the stations and a feed roll of the feeding station. Each of the first and second stations and the stripping station have a frame with two lateral frame members with each of the lateral frame members having a groove for receiving bearing blocks for the upper and lower rotatable tools and one of the frame members of each groove mounts a drive pinion in a fixed position relative to the groove and in driving engagement with a gear on the shaft of the lower tool. Each of the bearing blocks have the same outer dimensions with the axis of the tool being positioned in the bearing block depending on the size of the tool so that by changing tools, the gears of the tools always engage the same drive pinion.

  • Patent number: 4616682
Abstract: A plurality of filaments are helically wound on a mandrel, with longitudinal portions being formed between the last turn of one and the first turn of the next filament. Winding stresses are removed from a preceding wound filament by heating it. That filament is anchored on the mandrel by the heating step, and the next filament is then wound as similarly freed from winding stress. The mandrel is then drawn out of the preceding filament and is displaced through the next subsequent filament while the mandrel is rotated in a direction opposite that used for winding. The filaments are then separated.
