  • Patent number: 5366129
Abstract: A tape dispenser has a housing in which a roll of adhesive tape is rotatably supported, a cutter provided on the front of the housing for cutting the adhesive tape to desired lengths, an adhering member for adhering the tape dispenser to a supporting surface, and both a support rod rotatably mounted to the housing, and a ring-shaped support disposed at an end of the support rod and rotatably supported by the adhering member. Thus, with the adhering member adhering the tape dispenser to a supporting surface, the housing of the tape dispenser can be rotated about the support rod so as to be movable between vertical and horizontal orientations. Also, the housing can be rotated 360.degree. about the adhering member such that the cutter of the tape dispenser can be moved to a desired angular position while the tape dispenser remains adhered to the supporting surface.

  • Patent number: 5361660
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for feeding oil to a turret punch press in which an upper tool is adapted to be repeatedly moved vertically relative to a lower tool formed at the upper end of a cylindrical die. Conventional hand lubrication or the like can be carried out in order to feed lubricating oil to the contact surfaces at which the upper tool and a supporting member therefor make sliding contact with one another. A material is positioned on the upper face of the cylindrical die so as to mask the cylindrical die. Atomized cutting oil is periodically fed to the inside space of the cylindrical die, and is prevented from escaping therefrom due to the presence of the material before punching of the material and due to the extension of the upper tool into the lower tool after punching of the material has been carried out.

  • Patent number: 5355753
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for cutting cold pilgered tubes during rolling on a cold pilger rolling mill with reciprocating rolling stand and with intermittent advance and/or intermittent rotation of the tube in the area of one of the two dead centers of the rolling stand. The method includes imparting on the tube along a distance range thereof behind the rolling zone a constant rotation corresponding to the average speed of rotation of the tube such that the tube is temporarily elastically twisted. The distance range is selected in accordance with parameters determined by the material and dimensions of the tube. The tube is cut within the distance range during the constant rotation. The arrangement for carrying out the method includes a cutting unit with a cutting tool and a clamping sleeve which clamps the tube circumference and is constantly driven for rotation. The cutting unit is arranged at a distance from the rolling stand which facilitates elastic torsion of the tube.

  • Patent number: 5350099
Abstract: A device for dispensing one or more rolls of adhesive tape bearing indicia, and a method of applying such tape to a food container to maintain the container closed. The device includes a stand supporting a tube upon which rolls of indicia bearing tape are located. The tape may be drawn from the roll and laid across a platform located laterally of the tube. A first end of the platform is a biased hold down bar to maintain the tape in proper alignment. A second end of the platform includes a severing blade. The rolls of tape are oriented upon the tube such that the adhesive side of the tape is located furthest from the display platform to prevent sticking of the tape to the platform. The length of the platform is such that the indicia upon the tape is visible to the user. In use, the user will move the top and bottom trays of a food container to the closed position and secure the container using any integral fixing elements.

  • Patent number: 5349890
Abstract: A heated knife has a motor adapted to drive the knife against a cutting block with the web inbetween. The knife body is metal and has a cutting edge with side surfaces at an obtuse angle to each other. The knife is formed with a lengthwise bore which houses a Calrod capable of heating the knife up to about 950.degree. F. The knife body has relatively thin lateral ears spaced from the heater and which receive support bolts from the opposite ends of a driving yoke by which the motor drives the knife. This arrangement reduces the amount of heat withdrawn from the knife.

  • Patent number: 5347901
Abstract: An inventive tube cutting apparatus includes spaced plates which allow modular mounting of the main components of the tube cutting apparatus. The various components can be replaced and matched with other components by either changing the position that the components are mounted on the plates, or replacing the plates. An accelerator utilizes an eccentric connection to a rotary motor to provide a relatively simple drive for the die set. In an alternative accelerator, a steel belt is reversibly rotated and is fixed to drive the die set. In a powerhead assembly for actuating the die set, a pair of spaced shafts are connected through two offset links to synchronize the shafts, and maintain parallelism of the ram as it is forced downwardly into the die set.
