  • Patent number: 5303515
Abstract: The device for sharpening a cutting blade presenting a sharp edge includes at least one grinding wheel provided at least on the surface with abrasive material. The grinding wheel has a cylindrical body presenting a V-sectioned peripheral groove, and is mounted to rotate freely about an axis contained in a plane generally parallel to the sharp edge of the blade and perpendicular to the median plane of the blade, with the axis being inclined by a predetermined angle with respect to the normal to the median plane of the blade. The sharpening device is further constructed to place the blade and the grinding wheel in contact and to provide for relative displacement of the blade and the grinding wheel in a direction parallel to the sharp edge of the blade.

  • Patent number: 5299744
Abstract: A rubber tire component reclamation technique which provides tire rubber fragments classified according to size. Preferred apparatus for rubber tire component reclamation includes a feed hopper for receiving pieces of discarded tires, a granulating chamber coupled to the feed hopper for cutting the received pieces into smaller fragments, and an exit chute providing an output from the granulating chamber through which tire fragments fall. An air flow is induced upwardly through the exit chute to urge the less dense components such as yarn and fabric upwardly against gravity and out of the upper portion of the chute. The air flow is of sufficient force to prevent commingling and compaction of the less dense components with the remaining components of the tire fragments. A magnetized drum is located near the lower end of the exit chute for segregating the ferromagnetic components of the tire fragments.

  • Patent number: 5299480
Abstract: A method for cutting at least one elongated workpiece (13b) with a saw head assembly (10b) having a cutting blade (11b). The saw assembly (10b) further includes a guide mechanism for providing relative guided movement between the cutting blade (11b) and the workpiece (13b) along a cutting line (14b). The method comprises the steps of placing the workpiece (13b) across the cutting line (14b). Further, moving at least one of the cutting blade (11b) and the workpiece (13b) along the cutting line (14b) from a starting position (28b) on one side (27b') of said workpiece (13b) to a parked position (37b) on an opposite side (27b) of the workpiece (13b). In the parked position, the entire cutting stretch is positioned beyond the workpiece (13b). Next, the cut part or portion (32b) is displaced away from the cutting line (14b) using the workpiece (13b), while the cutting blade (11b) is in the parked position (37b).

  • Patent number: 5297711
Abstract: A perforated web transporting and separating system in which two longitudinally spaced drive mechanisms move the web, an upstream drive and a downstream drive. A platen supports and guides the web; the platen has two sections, and one section can be slightly rotated in the plane of the web with respect to the other section. In separating the web along a row of perforations, the web is driven to a point where the row of perforations is between the platen sections. The upstream drive is stopped while the downstream drive continues to attempt to drive the web, creating a tension in the web across the row of perforations. With the web in tension, one section of the guide platen is articulated relative to the other, tearing the web along the tensioned row of perforations.

  • Patent number: 5297710
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for dividing a flat glass panel (14) are described. The panel (14) which is to be divided and which is raised away from its substrate is securely held in its part regions by two clamping devices (10, 12) which are pivoted in opposite directions about a common pivot axle (4) and thus exert on the panel (14) a bending resulting in breakage along the score line (30). Simultaneously exerted on the clamping devices (10) which are, moreover, arranged to be displaceable in the direction of their connection line is a force which presses the clamping devices apart and which at the moment of breakage of the glass panel results in the two part panels moving apart, so that the broken edges cannot strike against one another. The part panels can be deposited again on a substrate after breaking. The invention further provides for marginal strips to be broken off the panel (14) to be divided, in the raised state thereof directly before dividing.

  • Patent number: 5293798
Abstract: A sawing machine having a spindle and circular saws thereon adapted to rotate with and axially slidably mounted on the spindle. A movable joint member or a one-way clutch is provided between the spindle and the saws. While the spindle is rotating at a low speed or is at a stop, the joint member or the clutch is in its inoperative position, keeping the saws disengaged from the spindle so that the distances between the adjacent saws can be adjusted freely. When the spindle begins to rotate at a high speed, the joint member is moved outwardly or the clutch is engaged by centrifugal force, thus locking the circular saws to the spindle.

  • Patent number: 5291646
Abstract: The subject invention relates generally to devices for facilitating the temporary attachment of objects to a steering wheel and has particular reference to a device for removably attaching a fly tyer's vise to a steering wheel or other suitable structure. The preferred embodiment consists of a flat strip of metal bent into the shape of a "U" or a "V" and treated so as to achieve a non-skid, protective surface. Several rubber "spacers" may accompany the device for adaptation to structures smaller in diameter than the standard boat or automobile steering wheel; the device sides may also be indented or expanded to obtain a more secure fit. The device is sufficiently wide to accommodate an optional variety holes and notches for holding fly tying equipment. A piece of impressionable, foam rubber-like material can be attached to the device for stowing completed flies. The device is slipped around a steering wheel, open end facing out.

  • Patent number: 5289750
Abstract: An apparatus for bonding thin film supplied from a continuous roll to at least one bonding surface along the entire length of a discrete printed surface base plate and efficiently cutting the film to a proper length which covers an entire planar surface of the board. Each board is conveyed to a film bonding position and the leading end of the continuous film is transported to the film bonding position that is held by suction. A compression bonding roller moves across the surface of the board and automatically feeds film and bonds the film to the board while leaving a portion of the film loose over the trailing end of the board. A cutter comprising a rotary blade and a fixed blade disposed across the direction of movement of the film and the board is mounted on a slide bed which is moveable towards and away from the film. The rotary blade is obliquely oriented in order to permit the cutting of the film when the blade is rotated in opposition to the fixed blade.
