  • Patent number: 11776042
Abstract: An online system provides options for selection by a user. The online system receives a query entered on a client device. The online system queries an item database to retrieve a set of items related to the query and assigns each item to a product category in a predefined taxonomy that maps items to product categories. The online system inputs each item into a prediction model trained to predict a probability that an item is available at a warehouse location. The online system determines that a first product category has low availability based on predicted probabilities for items in the first product category. Responsive to determining that a first product category has low availability, the online system generates a generic item for the first product category and sends a list of items including the generic item to the client device for display responsive to the query.

  • Patent number: 11727381
Abstract: An implementation of the present specification discloses a method for processing payment in an offline scenario. A collection terminal, when in an offline state, scans an offline code generated by a user terminal in an offline state to obtain offline code information, obtains a payment amount, and saves the offline code information and the payment amount, and if in an online state, uploads the offline code information and the payment amount to a server, so that after receiving the offline code and the payment amount, the server pays a deduction amount from a corresponding payment account based on the offline code information and the payment amount, and thus puts the deduction amount into a payment account corresponding to the collection terminal. As such, the payment function can still be achieved when the user terminal and the collection terminal are in an offline state.

  • Patent number: 11727377
Abstract: A method of using cryptocurrency to transact fiat currency purchases using conventional POS apparatus includes funding by a user of a cryptocurrency account that requires withdrawal transactions to be signed by both the user and a payment platform. Upon purchase initiation, a platform-issued authorization number is entered into a merchant's POS apparatus and transmitted to the platform. Upon verification of sufficient cryptocurrency, the platform transmits payment information to the user, and upon approval thereof by the user, the user transmits a user-signed cryptocurrency transaction to the platform, and the platform remits fiat currency to the merchant. As purchases continue during an aggregation period, each user-signed transaction is sufficient to fund the aggregated purchases. Upon termination of the aggregation period, the most recent user-signed transaction is executed to withdraw cryptocurrency from the user's account.

  • Patent number: 11710172
Abstract: In some examples, a location of a merchant is updated as the merchant moves. A server receives the location of the merchant, and compares that location to the location of a user, so as to determine whether the merchant is located within a first threshold distance or a second, smaller threshold distance from the location of the user. If the user is within the first threshold distance, the server presents a first point of sale (POS) interface to initiate an order from the merchant and present the user with an option to fulfill that order through delivery. If the merchant is located within the second, smaller threshold distance from the user, the server presents the user with a second POS interface that gives the user an option to fulfill the order through pickup instead of delivery.

  • Patent number: 11704982
Abstract: In some implementations, an automated teller machine (ATM) may accept a card. The ATM may eject the card at a first time. The ATM may retract the card based on a determination that a threshold amount of time has elapsed from the first time and that the card has not been removed. The ATM may eject the card at a second time after retracting the card. The ATM may retract the card based on a determination that the threshold amount of time has elapsed from the second time and that the card has not been removed. The ATM may provide the card to a card storage compartment of the ATM after retracting the card and based on a determination that the card has been ejected or retracted a threshold number of times.

Abstract: An option is set on a payment card of a card issuer. A request for payment for a transaction is received by a payment server of the card issuer from a merchant device/server. The payment server requests and receives a one-time token based on the option. An authorization indicating payment was successful is sent from the payment server to the merchant device/server with a flag set, the token, and a network address. Merchant device/server identifies the flag obtains the token and sends an e-receipt for the transaction along with the token to the network address. The e-receipt accessible from the network address by a consumer associated with the transaction. Furthermore, the e-receipt is obtained by the consumer without registering personal information or contact information with the merchant, which preserves the anonymity of the consumer with respect to the merchant.

  • Patent number: 11663586
Abstract: Example methods and apparatus for combining electronic payment and rewards redemption at retail points of sale are disclosed. A point of sale (POS) system may be configured to facilitate contactless payments while securing customer payment data. When a customer with a payment application installed on a mobile device initiates a transaction, the application obtains reference data associated with a customer account from an account services server of the POS. The reference data is then passed from the application of the mobile device to a POS terminal, such as by near field communication. Upon receiving the token, the POS terminal obtains customer payment data from the account services server and rewards program data for the customer from a rewards program server. Available rewards may be automatically applied prior to processing payment using the payment data to complete the contactless payment transaction.
