Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of configuring an aperiodic sounding reference signal. In an embodiment of the method of configuring an aperiodic sounding reference signal, the parameters of the aperiodic sounding reference signal are categorized into two parts. The first part of parameters can be configured by radio resource control signaling, and the second part can be configured dynamically via the indication in downlink control information format 4. The second part of the parameters includes at most three of the following parameter set: cyclic shift, the number of antenna ports, carrier aggregation, sounding reference signal bandwidth, frequency-domain position, sounding reference signal hopping bandwidth, multi-shot sounding reference signal duration, and transmission comb. The first part of the parameters includes sounding reference signal configuration index and the remaining part of the parameter set.

  • Patent number: 9348780
Abstract: Method and apparatus for controlling a digitized analog audio device from a control circuit communicating with the digitized analog audio device with a serial digital analog audio protocol on a serial communication medium multiplexes command data words within digitized analog audio data frames. The digitized analog audio device extracts the command data words from the digitized analog audio data frames. The command data word includes a keyword packet, a command packet, an optional address packet, and an optional data packet. The keyword packet, a command packet, an optional address packet, and an optional data packet are each inserted into a separate number of truncated digitized analog audio data frames for iterative and successive transmission. The iterative transmission of the packets of the command word decreases the likelihood that digitized analog audio frames would contain packets of the command word.

  • Patent number: 9282026
Abstract: A system and method for improved routing in autonomous systems includes identifying one or more first edge routers for an autonomous system, selecting one or more second edge routers from the one or more first edge routers, determining a third edge router, forming a first edge router list including all of the one or more second edge routers except for the third edge router, forming a first reachability message, and transmitting the first reachability message. A first prefix is reachable using the one or more second edge routers. The third edge router is associated with a first path for reaching the first prefix. The third edge router is selected from the one or more second edge routers. The first path is a best path for reaching the first prefix. The reachability message includes the first prefix, information associated with the first path, and the first edge router list.

  • Patent number: 9270568
Abstract: A method and device for determining the presence of a rate limiting mechanism arranged between a sending and a receiving data communication node in a data transfer path of a communication network is presented. The method includes determining time difference values for probe packets in a train of probe packets sent from the sending node and received in the receiving node after having traversed the data transfer path during real-time operation of the data transfer path. The method further includes determining the presence of a rate limiting mechanism in the data transfer path upon detecting that an increase in the time difference value between received probe packets in the train of probe packets exceeds a threshold criterion. Other methods and devices for determining the absence of a rate limiting mechanism and corresponding computer program products are further disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9253683
Abstract: In a mobile data network with a breakout system, when data is broken out, the RLC function is split into two different flows, between the UE and the breakout system and between the breakout system and the RNC. These two flows are processed by different RLC functions that may drift apart and become out of synchronization resulting in errors that diminish the user's quality of experience. Other errors may also occur in communication on these two different flows. The breakout system attempts to correct these errors using data stored locally in communication data structures for the two data flows. If the errors cannot be corrected, the breakout system can initiate an RLC reset into both of these flows to resynchronize the data communication.

  • Patent number: 9252869
Abstract: A satellite telecommunications system has a global coverage area and a plurality of user terminals distributed in the global coverage area. The global coverage area is covered by a first set of spots which form a regular cellular mesh, and by at least a second set of local spots, irregularly distributed and superimposed geographically on spots of the first set. The spots of the first set of spots have allocated channels with the same frequency capacity, the same channel being re-used by a plurality of different spots, and the local spots of the second set of spots have a special allocated channel having an increased frequency capacity.

  • Patent number: 9191886
Abstract: A device joining a wireless network performs a scan and acquire procedure to discover the optimal node in the desired network. The joining device scans all desired channels for a predetermined amount of time. During the scan, the joining device builds a table of discovered networks ranked and truncated according to proximity. Additionally, the joining device curates the list to ensure that only the optimal node from each network is listed. The joining device then attempts to join networks according to the table of discovered networks.

  • Patent number: 9148842
Abstract: Embodiments of a user station (STA) and methods for device-to-device discovery and advertisement through broadcast beacon signals are generally described herein. In some embodiments, group information, including a list of STAs in an advertising group, is transmitted in a beacon. A STA may transmit a request to join the advertising group. The request may be transmitted to an upchain STA, the upchain STA being determined based on inspection of the list of STAs of the advertising group. After receiving a response to the request, the STA may periodically broadcast the beacon and the STA may transmit acknowledgements to the upchain STA upon receiving beacons from the upchain STA.

  • Patent number: 9148849
Abstract: The coverage, connectivity and communication (C3) protocol method for wireless sensor networks is an integrated and energy-efficient protocol for Coverage, Connectivity and Communication (C3) in WSNs. The C3 protocol uses RSSI to divide the network into virtual rings, defines clusters with clusterheads more probably at alternating rings, defines dings, which are rings inside a cluster, uses triangular tessellation to identify redundant nodes, and communicates data to sink through clusterheads and gateways. The protocol strives for near-optimal deployment, load balancing, and energy-efficient communication. Simulation results show that the C3 protocol ensures partial coverage of more than 90% of the total deployment area, ensures 1-connected network, and facilitates energy-efficient communication, while expending only ¼th of the energy compared to other related protocols.

  • Patent number: 9137787
Abstract: In one aspect, the teachings herein provide a method and apparatus for extending certain HARQ feedback procedures introduced in LTE Rel-10, which were defined for CA configurations involving TDD serving cells of the same UL/DL configuration, to the new, more complex CA configurations introduced in Rel-11, which involve the aggregation of interband TDD serving cells with differing UL/DL configurations. Such reuse enables reliant and efficient HARQ feedback signaling in LTE Rel-11, without substantially increasing the specification or implementation complexity of HARQ feedback signaling in LTE Rel-11, despite the decidedly more complex CA configurations introduced in LTE Rel-11.

  • Patent number: 9001657
Abstract: A device may receive a packet, may identify a first packet characteristic associated with the packet, may identify a second packet characteristic associated with the packet, and may store information associated with the packet in a queue based on the first packet characteristic and the second packet characteristic. The device may service the packet from the queue based on an automatic repeat requester (“ARQ”) mechanism. The ARQ mechanism may specify a maximum quantity of times that the packet should be serviced before being dropped, when a packet acknowledgement is not received, may specify a time period between packet service attempts, and may be based on the first packet characteristic and the second packet characteristic.
