  • Patent number: 5217662
Abstract: A method for automatically timely supplying a lubricant to a machine working section driven by a motor and an apparatus therefor. The quantity of increase of the driving current of a mold clamping servomotor (12) during the process in which a mold clamping mechanism (10) of an injection molding machine shifts from a proper lubrication state to an improper lubrication state is previously decided for each combination of the type of the injection molding machine, injection molding conditions, and the type of grease. While a normal injection molding cycle in the proper lubrication state is being executed, a reference value for the motor driving current is decided on the basis of the normal motor driving current in a specific moved position of a movable platen (14), at which the motor current is measured for the aforesaid decision, and the increase of the motor driving current, the reference value and the specific moved position of the movable platen being loaded into a memory of a numerical control device (50).

  • Patent number: 5074237
Abstract: A painting apparatus selectively sprays a plurality of different color paints by a pair spray gun at a desired discharge rate. A thinner is discharged into a pipe communicating the spray gun so as to force out a selected color paint remainiung in the pipe for continuously spraying the color paint. A flow meter is disposed in the pipe to measure the color paint flowing therethrough so as to detect its flow rate. A thinner discharge rate at which the thinner is discharged, is controlled according to the flow rate so as to spray the color paint at a substantially constant rate before and after the discharge of the thinner into the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5067887
Abstract: A system for recovering hot-melt materials for reuse in a glue gun includes a flexible mold form mounted in a carrier and having an internal cavity that approximates the dimensions of the preformed hot-melt sticks. In order to change from one type hot-melt material to another, the sticks of the desired material are loaded into the gun while the heated, hot-melt material in the gun is discharged into the mold form. The hot-melt material flows into the mold form and assumes the shape of a conventional preformed stick. After cooling and solidification of the material, the mold form is removed from its carrier and the cooled, cast stick is removed from the mold form for reuse. The mold form is fabricated from a flexible, heat-resistant material, such as a silicone rubber, and includes an elongated tubular portion having a tapered exterior to facilitate removal from its carrier and an internal bore dimensioned to produce a cast stick having the dimensions of the preformed stick.

  • Patent number: 4988272
Abstract: A tool for compressing and finishing the grout in joints between ceramic and mosaic tiles and the like. The tool includes a handle portion for gripping the device and a flexible yet resilient elongated shaft portion extending linearly therefrom. The shaft portion is bent about 20 degrees at a point approximately midway the length of the rod thereby forming two straight and distinct portions. The portion furthest from the handle, that is, the distal portion of the rod is placed atop the unhardened, exposed grout in the joints between tegular elements applied to a surface such that the entire distal portion is in contact with the grout material while the proximial portion of the rod assumes an approximately 20 degree angle with the surface. In this manner the user moves the tool along the grout joint while applying a desired amount of pressure such that the grout is compressed within the joints between tegular elements while it is also topically smoothed in an aesthetically appealing manner.

  • Patent number: 4943222
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for the shaping of a sheet of preform material. A flat planar (heated) sheet of preform material is held tightly between two elastomeric sheets of the apparatus, the sheets and preform material forming a laminate assembly. The laminate assembly is then formed about a mold having the desired contours. The elastomeric sheets maintain the preform material parallel to the surface contours of the mold as the molding process proceeds. A fluid such as air is flowed between the mold surface and the laminate assembly during the forming process to prevent the elastomeric sheets from binding on the mold surface. Wrinkles are eliminated in the final shape of the preform material, and fiber distortion or tears or rips in the material are minimized due to the fluid lubrication between the mold surface and the laminate assembly.

  • Patent number: 4938679
Abstract: A male mold member includes a base or body having a central projecting core with an intermediate peripheral tapered seat between the core and body. The body, seat and core are intercepted by a plurality of cylindrical bores spaced uniformly about the male mold member and inclined toward the core axis. The bores receive core blades having cylindrical bodies. The core blades are exteriorly shaped in the area of the core to form sections which continue the contour of the core and seat. The blades may each have a thread matrix in the core area. After molding, a stripper bushing, engaging the molded product, pushes the product along with the core blades to a position at which the core blades are collapsed so that the product may be stripped. In the molding position the stripper bushing has a tapered bore opening which fits snugly against the tapered seat portions on the blades to orient the blades to proper position and immobilize them.

  • Patent number: 4936762
Abstract: This disclosure illustrates and describes a test mold for the quantitative measure of the effects of formulation and/or process variable changes on some kinds of surface problems of a molded part caused by different degrees of imperfection or voiding underneath the part surface. The molded part can be single component or composite, solid or foamed. One example of the surface problem is the so-called "measles or cellulite" problem observed on the vinyl surface of a vinyl/foam composite due to the voids or rattiness within the foam. To accomplish this result, the mold has various sized, spaced apart, aligned openings formed in each of the front and rear walls of the mold, but with the centers thereof at different elevations in the respective front and rear walls. Removable rods inserted through the aligned mold wall openings produce longitudinal openings through the part which is molded around the rods, permitting the effect thereof on the surface of the molded part to be evaluated.
