  • Patent number: 7020456
Abstract: A method of granting, to a user communications device, access to a service provided by a plurality of service communications devices where an access key code is generated during an initial communications session between the user communications device and one of the service communications devices. The established access key code is subsequently stored in the user communications device and made available to the service communications devices for use in subsequent communications sessions between the user communications device and any one of the service communications devices. The invention further relates to a communications system and a user communications device.

  • Patent number: 7015836
Abstract: An EFM data decoding method and apparatus thereof for optical disk system is provided. According to the method, a 14-bit data complying with the EFM modulation criteria but failing to correspond to a 8-bit data based on an EFM decoding table is transformed successfully by looking up an expanded EFM decoding table. The expanded EFM decoding table includes probable 8-bit data corresponding to the erroneous data complying with the EFM modulation criteria. Reliability of data reading is thus enhanced in the present invention.

  • Patent number: 7016706
Abstract: An image processing section reads out moving picture data from a memory section in accordance with an instruction from a control section, and subjects the moving picture data to a predetermined data process and converts it to image data and voice data. Based on the image data, a driver drives a display section for display control. The control section controls respective parts of a mobile radio terminal. Even while a moving picture is being reproduced, if call reception occurs, the control section temporarily suspends the reproduction of the moving picture and indicates the occurrence of call reception. If the call ends, the control section resumes the reproduction of the moving picture.

  • Patent number: 7013157
Abstract: A packet format for multicast messages which designates a single receiver to send an acknowledgment to the multicast message. The designated receiver responds to the multicast message with an acknowledgment. If the designated receiver does not respond to the multicast message, the message is resent. • Patent number: 7012466
Abstract: A load responds to a voltage-to-current converter including a differential amplifier. A sensing resistor is series connected with the load and first and second feedback resistors, respectively included in first and second voltage dividers having taps connected to non-inverting and inverting inputs of the amplifier. One divider is connected between a first terminal of the sensor resistor and one voltage responsive input terminal of the converter. Another divider is connected between the second terminal of the sensor resistor and a second converter input terminal, that can be grounded or voltage responsive. The feedback resistors have the same value that is much greater than the sensor resistor value. The first divider can be connected to the first or second terminal of the sensor resistor and vice versa for the second divider.

  • Patent number: 7009532
Abstract: The DVD recording method is intended to increase the number of cycles allowed for recording on the disk an enormous number of times. This method comprises generating two data streams by using a plurality of code mapping variants prepared for coding input data, quasi-randomly selecting one of the plurality of code mapping variants, if absolute DSVs of the two streams are substantially equal, and converting into recording code sequences. This method prevents deterioration of the disk particularly in the management area and increases the number of cycles allowed for rewriting.

  • Patent number: 7009538
Abstract: A high-speed digital-to-analog converter (DAC) measurement method acquires and quantizes an analog ramp output by the DAC corresponding to a digital ramp input to produce a quantized ramp, determines a start and end of the quantized ramp, obtains a difference between the quantized ramp and an ideal ramp to produce a quantized periodic signal (triangular or sinusoidal), determines a frequency for a qualified peak from an FFT of the quantized periodic signal, produces a mask filtered periodic signal from an iFFT around the qualified peak, and determines a sample window spanning a local maximum and minimum for each period of the quantized periodic signal. The ramp step levels are the averages of the samples within each sample window. From the step levels in DAC LSB's, resolution, monotonicity, differential lineary and integral linearity are determined for the DAC.

  • Patent number: 7009539
Abstract: A ?? modulator modulates only an error component separated by a component separating portion. Therefore, even if the number of order of the ?? modulator increases, an amplitude of an output of an integrator in the final stage does not excessively increase, and the stability of the modulator can be achieved. Since the signal component separated by the component separating portion does not pass through the ?? modulator, an intensity of an input signal can be maintained as it is, and the modulator can have high precision.

  • Patent number: 7006821
Abstract: A method for allowing a mobile station (MS) to dynamically adjust its T_ADD_R and T_DROP_R pilot signal strength thresholds (established by pilot Ec/Io values) used to add or drop pilots from the MS's active set during rescue. Dynamic adjustment of T_ADD_R and T_DROP_R allows the MS to select and add BSs (sectors) with sufficient forward link quality into their active sets and drop BSs (sectors) with poorer forward link quality during a call recovery procedure to recover an active connection before it is dropped. In addition, the effectiveness of recovering an active connection is improved through corresponding actions at the BS. The BS may use the signal strength measurements, active set information, and other pilot information to update its own active set for use in generating a forward rescue channel.

  • Patent number: 7003321
Abstract: When a signal is sent from a wireless base station 3-1, a wireless modem 10-1 converts the signal to a signal of a unified transmission form. The switch 11-1 switches the signal to one of wireless transceivers 12-1, 12-2 and the optical transceiver 13-1. The wireless transceiver 12-1 or 12-2 sends the signal to a control station 4 or a wireless base station 3—3 via a wireless circuit 20. The optical transceiver 13-1 converts the signal into an optical signal and sends the optical signal to a wireless base station 3-2 via an optical fiber circuit 30.

  • Patent number: 7003279
Abstract: A method and apparatus allow use condition determination in a wireless device. A wireless interface is coupled to a processor configured to input subscriber rate plan parameters associated with a service provider. Rate plan parameters include data associated with peak time charges. Rate plan parameters are compared with current parameters to determine if peak time charges are in effect. An indication that the peak time charges are in effect is then generated.

  • Patent number: 7003309
Abstract: A communication system has a master device and a slave device clocked by the system clock generated by the master device for data transfer between them. When no data transfer takes place between them for a predetermined period, the slave device goes into a sleep mode. The slave device in the sleep mode can return to the active mode when it receives a system clock. Thus, the slave device can be placed in the sleep mode and return to the active mode without any additional signal lines. The communication system can save a large amount of power during the sleep.
