Abstract: A method of controlling a user interface of a device responsive to user input by a user comprising: displaying on the user interface of the device a plurality of objects displayed in an arrangement, each object having one or more characteristics; providing an array of selection detection areas, and associating each of the selection detection areas with a respective object on the user interface so as to enable detection of selection of one or more of the objects by the user; following a selection of one of the plurality of objects by the user, predicting a subsequent object to be selected by the user in dependence on one or more selection criteria; and enlarging a selection detection area associated with the subsequent object.

Abstract: An electronic device for running an application can include a display to visually present a user interface corresponding to the application. The electronic device can also include a processor to determine whether the application is an originally-installed application and cause the display to include a visually identifiable feature in the user interface indicating that the application is not an originally-installed application responsive to a determination that the application is not an originally-installed application.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for interface presentation, a method and apparatus for user interface interaction, and a computer readable storage medium are proposed. The method for interface presentation includes determining a logic relationship between a main interface to be presented and respective sub-interfaces according to functionality; constructing a multiple-face structure according to the logic relationship, wherein each face of the multiple-face structure corresponds to an interface, and, when an interface has a sub-interface, the interface is adjacent to each sub-interface thereof; presenting the main interface in the multiple-face structure; and, after detecting that function of one sub-interface is triggered, determining every sub-interface from the one sub-interface to the main interface according to the logic relationship in the multiple-face structure and presenting the every sub-interface.

Abstract: Techniques for navigating a virtual environment are provided. A first portion of the virtual environment is displayed on a touchscreen of a mobile device. The virtual environment comprises multiple portions that includes the first portion. While the first portion is displayed, input that comprises a movement in a particular direction is received via the touchscreen. In response to receiving the input: (1) a second portion, of the plurality of portions, that is different than the first portion is identified based on the particular direction; (2) the second portion of the virtual environment is displayed on the touchscreen; and (3) a virtual object that was displayed on the first portion is automatically moved to a position on the second portion.

Abstract: The invention provides for a system and method for activity-entry reporting and activity-entry report generation by utilizing a drag and drop mechanism that allows users to merge submitted activities in order to generate new activities. These activities are contained within activity reports that can be modified and merged by other users in an effort to develop combined activity reports that maintain the traceability of the merged activities.

Abstract: Methods and systems may provide for detecting a manual addition of first content to an interactive display and defining a content boundary around the first content. Additionally, a first automatic rescaling of the first content within the content boundary may be conducted in response to one or more of a manual modification of the first content or a trigger related to a characteristic of the first content. In one example, a manual reposition request is detected with respect to the first content, the first content is moved to a new position on the interactive display based on the reposition request, and a second automatic rescaling of the first content is conducted based on a state of second content that is adjacent to the new position.

Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for invoking user interfaces in graphical computing environments involving “hooking” gestures applicable to an edge of a display. These gestures involve positioning a pointer near an edge of the display depicting the environment, and then moving the cursor to a second location that is distanced from but near the first location (e.g., moving the pointer into a corner of the display, and then toward the center of the display, or to a midpoint of an adjacent edge of the display), resulting in the presentation of the user interface under the pointer at the second location. Variations include presenting a preview of the user interface (e.g., a subset of a user interface menu) at the second location while the pointer is in the first location, and refraining from presenting the user interface upon failing to complete the gesture or receiving extraneous input before completing the gesture.

Abstract: Provided is a method of providing an instant messaging service and multiple services expanded from the instant messaging service, the method including displaying a chat window for a chat room related to an instant messaging service, receiving a touch event input by a user on the chat window, selecting one service among a plurality of services expanded from the instant messaging service in response to the touch event, and displaying a window related to the selected service.

Abstract: The proper visualization of a business process plays a key role in analyzing, changing, simulating and monitoring the business process. Most BPMS systems today, provide a modeling environment where the business user can define and visualize business processes as BPMN diagrams. Some more advanced systems (such as Savvion Business Manager) enable monitoring of the business process at run-time via a color-coded view of the process diagram. While process diagram is an important view of the process, it lacks the level of abstraction needed to provide information in an optimal way to the business users. The proposed visualization, called the 360 degree view provides an optimal view of a business process without losing important details about the process.

Abstract: Visualization tools, and systems and software underlying such tools, for allowing user to visualize organizations of people. Members of an organization are represented by unabstracted nodes. In some embodiments, visualization diagrams are efficiently created by abstracting the unabstracted nodes in a manner that reduces the number of nodes needing to be rendered, while retaining the visual character of a similar diagram composed of the original, unabstracted nodes. In these embodiments, regions of abstraction diagrams can be selectively de-abstracted in response to a user's selection within the abstraction diagram. In response to such a selection, in some instances only a particular hierarchical reporting chain within the organization, or a portion thereof, is de-abstracted to allow the user to view unabstracted nodes within that chain. Also disclosed are other visualization tools, such as attribute-overlay tools, time-scrubbing tools, and geographic distribution tools, among others.

Abstract: Data values for various items are visualized in real-time or near real-time using radial-based techniques to produce data visualizations bearing some resemblance to, for example, pie charts, radial charts, etc. The data values are shown using indicators that encircle, or at least partially encircle, a central point. One or more characteristics of the indicator reflect the value that corresponds to the indicator. The characteristics may include, for instance, the color of the indicator and/or the distance of the indicator (or more specifically, a given point on the indicator) from the central point. The characteristics of the indicators change over time, in accordance with changes in the current values of the data items. A variety of indicators may be used, including, without limitation, points, icons, pie “wedges,” filled or partially-filled sectors of an ellipse or semi-circle, arcs or lines that span between the sides of such sectors, and so forth.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for assigning times of administration to patient medications are described. A GUI is displayed within a display associated with a pharmaceutical dispensing system. The GUI includes a one day time scale for assigning a time of administration for the medication. One or more daily times of administration for the medication are assigned in response to user input via the one day time scale. A dose of the medication is packaged in each of a respective plurality of pouches according to the assigned daily times of administration via the pharmaceutical dispensing system. The one day time scale may include a time line representative of a twenty-four hour period and one or more time indicators that are positionable by a user. The one day time scale may include a plurality of food consumption times, each selectable by a user for assigning a time of administration.

Abstract: Disclosed are a mobile terminal and a control method thereof. The mobile terminal includes: a display unit configured to output a web page received from an arbitrary web server; a generation unit configured to extract one or more links included in the web page, and to generate a link tree composed of nodes having path information corresponding to the extracted links; a controller configured to select a predetermined range of nodes based on a node corresponding to the output web page, among the nodes included in the link tree, and to simultaneously capture web pages corresponding to the selected nodes with the output web page, if a preset input is detected after the web page has been output; and a storage unit configured to store images of the captured web pages in a single group. With such a configuration, a web page currently-output to the display unit may be captured to be stored simultaneously with an upper page and/or a sub page related to the currently-output web page.

An engine may receive/record context data arising from interactions between a user and the software program. The engine may process that context data to reference a plurality of sources (e.g., official help documentation, user blogs, partner web sites, etc.) and harvest relevant help information. Based upon stored context data and help information available from the plurality of sources, certain embodiments may generate suggested questions allowing further exploration of help issues. Some embodiments may offer help information in the form of an interactive “hotspot” focusing upon a specific UI element (e.g., icon). Processing the context data may allow the engine to assign a particular skill level (e.g., novice/intermediate/expert) to individual users, tailoring the help information to that skill level.

Abstract: Reduced-size user interfaces for providing weather information are disclosed. At an electronic device with a touch-sensitive display, indications of a location and a temperature at the location may be displayed. In some examples, a user may provide input through a touch on the touch-sensitive display and/or through a rotation of a rotatable input mechanism to display additional weather information, such as weather information for another location, another temperature, another time, and so forth. In some examples, the device may obtain data representing an upcoming activity, determine whether the activity is to begin within a threshold amount of time, and display weather information based on the upcoming activity. In some examples, the device may display an affordance at a position to indicate the time of day for which a weather condition is provided.

Abstract: Embodiments of systems and methods for analyzing and visualizing data are described. Data from third party data sources can be collected, parsed, and analyzed to generate graphical elements that can help visualize the analyzed data. These graphical elements can be displayed on remote user computing devices to enable users of the system to visualize the analyzed data.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a mobile terminal capable of implementing a user interface for effectively providing information, and a method for controlling the same. The mobile terminal includes a display unit capable of outputting partial information of a plurality of information, and a controller capable of scrolling the partial information, in response to a user's control command. The controller categorizes at least one of the partial information into a specific category according to a preset condition when the at least one information disappears from the display unit due to being scrolled, and outputs a graphic object corresponding to the categorized specific category.

Abstract: Provided is a display apparatus, which includes a display, an inputter or input device configured to input user commands to execute a function of the display apparatus, a storage configured to store a user experience index matched with each of the user commands where the user experience index represents utilization of the display apparatus by a user, and a processor configured to determine the user experience index corresponding to the input user command based on a previously-stored user experience index, and control the display to display the determined user experience index.
