  • Patent number: 11768800
Abstract: Exemplary systems and methods for archiving data objects using secondary copies are disclosed. The system creates one or more secondary copies of primary data that contains multiple data objects. The system may maintain a first data structure that tracks the data objects for which the system has created secondary copies and the locations of the secondary copies. To archive data objects in the primary data, the system identifies data objects to be archived, verifies that previously-created secondary copies of the identified data objects exist, and replaces the identified data objects with stubs. The system may maintain a second data structure that both tracks the stubs and refers to the first data structure, thereby creating an association between the stubs and the locations of the secondary copies.

  • Patent number: 11726669
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for coherency locking are described in which different types of writes have different coherency locking schemes. The types of writes can be associated with different sources of write commands, such as external commands from a host system or internal commands from a garbage collection procedure. Coherency locking can be performed for external write commands received from a host system, while coherency locking is not performed for internal write commands. If an internal write is received for data that has been previously written at a prior location, a write to one or more physical memory devices can be performed and, once an acknowledgment is received that the write is complete, an update to a mapping table with the new location of the data is performed.

  • Patent number: 11698734
Abstract: Method and apparatus for managing data in a storage device, such as a solid-state drive (SSD). In some embodiments, a main memory has memory cells arranged on dies arranged as die sets accessible using parallel channels. A controller is configured to arbitrate resources required by access commands to transfer data to or from the main memory using the parallel channels, to monitor an occurrence rate of collisions between commands requiring an overlapping set of the resources, and to adjust a ratio among different types of commands executed by the controller responsive to the occurrence rate of the collisions. In further embodiments, the controller may divide a full command into multiple partial commands, each of which are executed as the associated system resources become available. In some cases, the ratio is established between read commands and write commands issued to the main memory.

  • Patent number: 11645006
Abstract: A memory controller managing a memory device receives a memory read command from a host device that is communicably coupled to the memory device. The memory device includes a storage memory comprising a first type of memory cells and a cache memory comprising a second type of memory cells. The memory controller determines, from the memory read command, a physical address of a target memory location in the storage memory indicated by the memory read command. The memory controller executes a read operation on the target memory location corresponding to the physical address. The memory controller determines a read attribute of the target memory location. Conditioned on determining that the read attribute satisfies one or more threshold conditions, the memory controller programs an entry in the cache memory with information corresponding to the target memory location.
