  • Patent number: 5815925
Abstract: Simple, inexpensive and efficient tip cutting assemblies for allowing an operator to cut the tip of a fresh cartridge of caulk prior to insertion in the barrel. The tip cutting assemblies are provided in the context of two general types of caulking guns having either a metal enclosed frame or single piece molded plastic open frame. In one embodiment for a molded open-frame gun, the cartridge tip cutting assembly includes a cutting bracket attached to the frame and having an aperture there through for insertion of the cartridge tip. The cutting assembly also includes a blade assembly attached to the trigger and extending a blade outwardly between the frame and cutting bracket. Another embodiment for a closed metal-frame gun includes an aperture through a side of the housing for insertion of a cartridge tip, and a tip-cutting member formed with a through-hole to pass the plunger shaft and riding thereon within the housing.

  • Patent number: 5813305
Abstract: This is a cutter assembly for linerless strip media having an uncovered adhesive backing. There is a cutter mounted for transverse movement across the media and a backing bar with at least two cutting edges. The backing bar can be rotated to place one of the cutting edges in position to cooperate with the cutter to cut the media. The backing bar is rotatable about a transverse axis simultaneously with feed movement of the media at a rotational speed equal to the feed speed of the media. This causes the media to ride up on a pointed portion of a cutting edge without dragging across the cutting edge as the cutting edge moves into a use position in which the media is supported by a support surface of the cutting edge. A cleaning station cleans the previously used cutting edge as the bar is rotated. Rotating and fixed cutters can be used. The cutter is replaceable and can be supplied in combination with an associated media for which it is designed.

  • Patent number: 5806389
Abstract: An EL lamp has a perimeter that is beveled and said rear electrode is smaller in area than said front electrode due to said bevel. The lamp is made by placing an EL panel on a concave die with the rear electrode in contact with the die and shearing the edge of the lamp at an acute angle. The angle is between 30.degree. and 60.degree. and is preferably 45.degree.. The die has a radius of curvature that is 50-150 times the thickness of the panel to prevent deformation of the panel. For circular or nearly circular lamps, the entire perimeter of the lamp can be cut in a single stroke.

  • Patent number: 5806396
Abstract: An automatic fabric pattern-matching apparatus for, a fabric (MA) which has a pattern continuous at least in the lateral direction and which is unwound and spread from a wound fabric (M) and is fed from one end thereof in the longitudinal direction of the fabric in a hanging manner via a feeding mechanism of the fabric pattern-matching apparatus. The surface of the hanging portion of the fabric (MA) fed in the hanging manner is read by a CCD camera functioning as an optical reading apparatus, so that the vertical position of the fabric (MA) is controlled for aligning the fabric pattern so as to form a lateral straight line, based on the read signal. As a result, disadvantageous phenomena such as bias or bowed patterns created by gravity are eliminated, thereby eliminating defective products due to the disadvantageous phenomena noted.

  • Patent number: 5806392
Abstract: Shaped articles are cut from a web by correspondingly shaped cutters on a drum cooperating with an anvil drum. The web is engaged by conveyor bands which pass around the cutter and anvil drums and form a continuing conveying path for the web away from the drums. The conveyor bands are clear of the article shapes cut in the web which can thus be positively separated from the web by pusher means to be drawn away from the web by their own conveying means.

  • Patent number: 5807031
Abstract: The invention is designed to improve a cutting performance and a spiral chip discharging ability. Main cutting edges 16 and auxiliary cutting edges 18 are formed along the respective sides of an upper surface 14 of a negative throw-away tip 12 and along side of bevelled corners, respectively. A rake face 22 of each main cutting edge 16 is gradually inclined toward a lower surface of the tip 12 by an angle of inclination .beta. along the extension of the main cutting edge 16 away from its adjacent auxiliary cutting edge 18 and by a rake angle .alpha. (>.beta.) along a direction perpendicular to the main cutting edge 16. The tip 12 is mounted on a cutter 9 as a rotatable cutting tool so as to discharge spiral chips during cutting. To this end, the tip 12 is mounted such that an axial rake angle, a corner angle, an angle of inclination, and a true rake angle are set in a range of -4.degree. to -10.degree., a range of 25.degree. to 60.degree., a range of 0.degree. or larger, and a range of -20.degree. to -5.

  • Patent number: 5802944
Abstract: A gas cylinder with internal time delay which is entirely self contained within the cylinder. A valve pin that controls communication between the two sides of the piston through one or more a one-way valves in the piston. As each piston is moved by a die into the cylinder body, it exposes a portion of reduced cross section on a valve pin and gas flows through a one way valve such that the effective area of the piston is reduced. When the die moves away from the workpiece, a time delay occurs and the piston is delayed until the piston moves upwardly and closes communication between the sides of the piston.
