  • Patent number: 8189556
Abstract: Disclosed in a mobile communication system, and more particularly a method of re-transmitting data through a reverse link in a packet data system using ARQ (automatic repeat request) and a packet transmitting method and apparatus by which transmission efficiency is enhanced. The present invention discloses a method for re-transmitting data through a reverse link in Packet Data communication system using automatic repeat request (ARQ) adjusting data retransmission energy to be reduced at a predetermined ratio of one receiving energy for an initial data transmission to other receiving energy for a data re-transmission. The present invention also discloses a hybrid automatic repeat request system for packet transmission in which separate traffic-to-pilot power ratios are assigned to sub-packets when transmitting the sub-packets formed from one packet.

  • Patent number: 8190163
Abstract: Efficient coding and communication is accomplished by transmitting first and second sets of information using a relatively large transmission block including a plurality of minimum transmission units (MTUs), each MTU corresponding to a unique combination of resources. A first set of MTUs is used in conveying the first set of information, the first set including at least a majority of the MTUs in the transmission block. A second set of the MTUs is defined, e.g., selected, for use in conveying the second set of information, the second set of MTUs including less MTUs than the first set and at least some MTUs included in the first set. The first and second sets of information are communicated by transmitting at least some MTUs included in the first and the second sets of MTUs with the corresponding information modulated thereon.

  • Patent number: 8145201
Abstract: The invention relates to communications devices for reduced energy communications in an ad hoc network. The communication device includes a first low-powered transceiver for initiating communications with other communications devices and a second transceiver for transmitting data messages to the other communications devices once communication is initiated. The communication device also includes a communications control processor for determining times at which the other communications devices will be available to receive communications based on scheduling data received from those communication devices. The communications control processor can also take into account requests for reserved bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 8130692
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for data handling in a distributed communication network includes a data-handling node (DHN) residing at a mission management center (MMC). The MMC manages operations of one or more remote units. The DHN receives a stream of data units from a routing system. The stream of data units includes both stored mission data (SMD) and telemetry data having originated at the remote units. The DHN, in near real time, extracts the telemetry data from the stream of data units, identifies one or more subsystems of the MMC for receiving the extracted telemetry data, and communicates the extracted telemetry data to the identified subsystems of the MMC for processing.

  • Patent number: 8103257
Abstract: A data transmission method and system. The method includes transmitting by a first wireless communication device to a second wireless communication device, first voice data associated with a first user. The first wireless communication device receives from the second wireless communication device, a verbal request for receiving text data. The first wireless communication device retrieves the text data. The first wireless communication device generates a transaction data object comprising the text data and a command for executing an executable program for performing an action with respect to the text data on the second wireless communication device. The first wireless communication device simultaneously transmits second voice data and the transaction data object to the second wireless communication device.

  • Patent number: 8073453
Abstract: Apparatus and method for handling system information in mobile telecommunications system user equipment, wherein updates are applied in a defined order. In particular, in 3G UMTS systems, when System Information Block (SIB) SIB 11 and SIB 12 are received with information elements relating to cell information list (e.g. “intra-frequency cell info list”, “inter-frequency cell info list” and “Inter-RAT cell info list”) then the system information associated with the system information block information element in SIB 11 is applied before the system information associated with the system information block information element in SIB 12.

  • Patent number: 8023995
Abstract: There is provided a radio frequency circuit device for multi-band and multi-mode which is low in a circuit loss, and a mobile communication terminal using the radio frequency circuit device. The radio frequency circuit device has a first path 110 that includes an amplifier 10a that amplifies signals of at least two modulation techniques in power, a matching network 20 that is connected to the amplifier and a duplexer 50 and allows the matching network to be coupled with an antenna, and a second path 111 that does not include the duplexer and allows the matching network to be coupled with the antenna. The first path is selected when the amplifier amplifies one of the signals of at least two modulation techniques, and the second path is selected when the amplifier amplifies another signal. An output impedance of the amplifier is matched with an impedance when viewing the antenna side from the amplifier in the first path and the second path.

  • Patent number: 8010080
Abstract: A method and system for managing subscriber payments is disclosed. When a subscriber account reaches a threshold state, the subscriber may be directed to a payment platform that requests the subscriber to make a payment in order to continue using telecom service. As described, a billing system determines the subscriber's rate of usage of telecom service so far in a current billing period and then applies the determined rate of usage to predict a quantity of telecom service that the subscriber will use in the remainder of the billing period. The billing system then computes an overage charge for at least a portion of the predicted quantity of telecom service and conveys at least that overage charge to the payment platform. The payment platform then requests the subscriber to pay at least the computed overage charge, preferably as a condition to the subscriber using further telecom service.
