  • Patent number: 11076467
Abstract: The described embodiments relate to systems, methods, and apparatuses for establishing a network of sensor-responsive lighting units using an interface of each lighting unit. The interface of each lighting unit can include a channel selector switch for selecting a channel to which each lighting unit will be connected. In this way, the creation of a network can be created by placing the lighting units proximate to each other and selecting the same channel at the interface at each lighting unit. The lighting units can include sensors for detecting events occurring at each lighting unit, and information related to the detected events can be shared among other lighting units in the network. Each lighting unit can operate in different operating modes such as a testing mode for testing communications channels and a manual mode for allowing a lighting unit to operate independently of the information shared over the network.

  • Patent number: 11065941
Abstract: A vehicle intake air filter is provided forming an inner conduit formed between an upper orifice and a lower orifice. In addition to an outer filtering layer, a secondary filtering layer or layers are provided spanning the upper orifice. A monitoring mechanism for measuring and communicating a function of the air filter is further located within the upper orifice. The monitoring mechanism measures and communicates the function of the air filter. A plurality of sensors measure a differential pressure between the outer and inner surfaces of the filter. A remote communication system transmits sensor data from the sensors via a wireless communication protocol to a remote electronic monitor device, such as a cell phone. Increased pressure differential or filter performance or efficacy may thereby be displayed to the user on a real-time basis. The instant abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in this specification nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

  • Patent number: 11062190
Abstract: RFID tags capable of transitioning between a private state and one or more public states are provided. In the private state, tags may participate in an inventory round without restriction. In a public state, tags may be prevented from participating in an inventory round, allowed to participate without providing actual identifying information, or allowed to participate providing an alternate identifier. Whether and how the tag responds in a public state may depend on certain conditions including if one or more of the tag's flags are asserted or deasserted. A reader may select a public tag for inventorying by verifying itself, and the tag then asserting or deasserting one or more of its flags accordingly. The asserted or deasserted flag(s) may be used to determine whether and how a tag in a public state participates in an inventory round.

  • Patent number: 11043094
Abstract: An intelligent entrance detection system is provided where, primarily, any authorized or unauthorized entry to an area of a residential (or small industrial) unit covered by a wireless network is automatically detected from active off-the-shelf devices in that area. After the detection, an identification algorithm is employed to verify if this entry is a legal or illegal action. Based on this verification, either the routine smart home system is activated or a hazardous monitoring period begins to further investigate the suspicious event. If the illegal entrance is confirmed during the hazardous monitoring period, the owner of the property is informed through an intruder alarm protocol. In this invention, all of the analytic and processing steps, including entrance detection, owner identification, and device-free authority verification are designed based on monitoring and quantification of changes in surrounding wireless signals originated by human or object movements within the sensing area.

  • Patent number: 11009091
Abstract: A method of clutch wear notification comprises detecting engaged clutch positions at a first interval and storing the values of the engaged clutch positions. The stored values of the engaged clutch positions can be averaged at a second interval to create running averages, and the running averages can be stored. The running averages are compared at a third interval to determine a rate of change in the clutch positions. A clutch wear-out is signaled when comparing the running averages indicates that the rate of change in the clutch positions deviates from a normal rate of change. The clutch position during an engaged condition can deviate from the normal rate of change when the axial position of the release bearing begins to increase due to an adjustment mechanism ceasing to adjust.
