Abstract: A solution for providing an instant messaging (IM) space, such as for a chat session, is provided, which includes provisions for spinning off of chat threads. An embodiment of the invention provides a method of providing an IM space, the method comprising: providing a first graphical user interface (GUI) space for an IM conversation; obtaining a selected portion of the IM conversation represented on the first GUI; and creating a second GUI space for a second IM conversation based on the portion selected.

Abstract: Systems and method are provided for providing a playlist transport bar. The playlist transport bar provides an overlay which graphically represents assets (e.g., programs) of a playlist in a manner that enables a user to simultaneously ascertain a playback position within the playlist and a particular asset. The playlist transport may include asset regions which each correspond to an asset in a playlist and a position indication region which may provide information relating to a playback position.

Abstract: One or more embodiments of the disclosure include methods and systems that allows for improved user navigation within a group of content items. For example, a content navigation system can identify a content item within a group of content items to provide to a user in response to a user interaction. In some embodiments, the content navigation system can identify a content item to provide to the user based on one or more factors, such as a characteristic of a user interaction and a relevance of a content item. In addition, the content navigation system can strategically provide advertisement content items to a user by adjusting one or more factors with respect to advertisement content items.

Abstract: A display/input device has a display portion and a touch panel portion. The display portion displays selection keys and displays a setting screen of a selected setting item. The touch panel portion is provided for the display portion to detect a touch position of user input and a tap-and-drag operation in which while a touch is maintained the touched position is moved. When a tap-and-drag operation is detected within the display position of a selection key, the display portion displays a setting item explanation screen that explains the setting item corresponding to the selection key at the position where the tap-and-drag operation has been made.

Abstract: A machine can be accessed and controlled with the help of an interface device. The customizable interface device contains device elements that define features relating to the external representation and internal functionality of the interface device, as linked to one or more machines. An operator can use a configuration station to implement single or reoccurring queries that interact with the interface device and corresponding machines. In particular, the queries target the configuration of device elements in the interface device. The process can include temporarily unloading unused features from active memory and mirroring property changes initialized by a source. An emulator can assist in the configuration process by providing a preliminary software representation of the interface device hardware. A user can develop, test, and reconfigure functions on the emulator before loading the finalized platform to the interface device.

Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a method performed by a computing device. The method includes (1) receiving a command from a user to display a current GUI page of a set of GUI pages on a client device, the set of GUI pages providing the user with control over a system, (2) selecting, with reference to a proficiency level associated with the user, a version of the current GUI page from a plurality of versions of the current GUI page, and (3) causing the selected version of the current GUI page to be displayed to the user on a display of the client device. Other embodiments are directed to a computerized apparatus and a computer program product for performing a method similar to that described above.

Abstract: Systems and methods for rendering an annotation graphic user interface (GUI) that encompasses external information related to a book term in a structured frame. An ebook includes pre-selected terms embedded with hyperlinks directing to an article contained by an external information source. Upon a user interaction with such a pre-selected term, raw information from the one or more articles is accessed and fed to a wireframe. The raw information is mapped to respective sections of the wireframe based on the field identifications attached to different segments of the raw information. As a result, an annotation GUI including the external information can be displayed in a consistent and orderly format.

Abstract: Methods, system and computer-readable media are disclosed to facilitate presenting a plurality of digital images in a user interface window that includes an image display region and at least one other region available for re-use, receiving input from a user indicating a selection of at least one of the digital images, and modifying the presentation of the user interface window to present the selected at least one digital image in the image display region and to present the non-selected digital images as thumbnail images displayed within the at least one other region available for re-use. The thumbnail images displayed in the re-use region may be selectively displayed in a more prominent manner to facilitate user interaction.

Abstract: Dynamic display of hierarchical data in the form of a treemap. A first instance of an object representation is selected in a first visualization of a hierarchy encoded by containment. A second instance of the object representation is designated, wherein each instance is a tier for object occupation. An object within the hierarchy is displayed as a shape comprising at least two opposing surfaces, and the object is selected through the opposing surfaces. The hierarchy is dynamically re-ordered in response to the selection and designation, and the second representation of the hierarchy is displayed based on the dynamic re-ordering.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to techniques for creating policies. A plurality of objects representative of semantic objects are provided to a user. An arrangement of a subset of the objects, the arrangement representative of a policy, is received. The arrangement is converted to instructions for implementation by an application configured to implement policies. One or more of the objects may include fields and/or controls for specifying criteria of semantic objects represented by the objects.

Abstract: A handheld electronic device includes a reduced QWERTY keyboard and is enabled with disambiguation software. The device provides output in the form of a default output and a number of variants. The output is based largely upon the frequency, i.e., the likelihood that a user intended a particular output, but various features of the device provide additional variants that are not based solely on frequency and rather are provided by various logic structures resident on the device. The device enables editing during text entry and also provides a learning function that allows the disambiguation function to adapt to provide a customized experience for the user. The disambiguation function can be selectively disabled and an alternate keystroke interpretation system provided.

Abstract: In a method for redrawing a two web page windows that are being moved from a first display screen to a second display screen, an indication is received that each respective web page window is being moved from a first display to a second display. A processor identifies different scaling factors corresponding to uniform resource locators (URLs) of each respective web page window for scaling the web page windows for display on the second display screen. The processor causes the first web page window to be scaled according to the first scaling factor and the second web page window to be scaled according to the second, different scaling factor, wherein each web page window is scaled differently relative to the other on the second display screen than on the first display screen.

Abstract: In the proposed approach cluster elements (bins) are made available as a keypad in the form of a cluster map. The user directly selects the cluster element (bin) with a mouse, touch or actual keypad. For each of the associated attributes, a cluster map is available that orders the attributes from high-to-low by color or shade intensity. When a cluster element is selected in one cluster map, that same cluster element is also highlighted in other cluster maps. For each of the cluster maps, a value axis is available which shows the value of the parameter for the selected cluster element. In the case of numerical values, the high/low attribute pattern across the cluster maps is easily visible. The selected data objects in the cluster map are displayed in a separate widget.

Abstract: Managing the delivery of a presentation in real-time includes receiving a presentation including a plurality of slides, wherein each slide of the plurality of slides is allocated an amount of time for display during delivery of the presentation and is associated with a slide subject, determining subjects of interest for an audience of the presentation from a social media website, and correlating, using a processor, the subjects of interest with the plurality of slides of the presentation. A recommendation is generated using the processor. The recommendation specifies a modification to the presentation according to the correlation of subjects of interest with the plurality of slides of the presentation. Further, the recommendation is indicated using a display.

Abstract: A command center system includes forms to receive incident data describing an incident and at least one incident list that is populated with incident data from the input forms. The system also includes a status page that includes a list of links to incident pages, each incident page constructed from incident data in the at least one incident list. The status page also includes a daily briefing link to a daily briefing page that is constructed once per day from incident data in the at least one incident list such that incident data added after the current daily briefing page is constructed are not included in the daily briefing page. The status page also includes an incident content feed link for a content feed of incident data added to the at least one incident list and a daily briefing content feed link for a content feed of daily briefing pages.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for displaying geographical locations with the one or more annotations. In a particular embodiment, a language model is used to obtain the probability distribution of the locations over one or more annotations. Further, the system and the method utilizes the probability data obtained from the language model to determine a probability score for each location over the one or more annotations. Subsequently, one or more geographical locations are displayed on a world map, based on the probability score of the geographical locations over the one or more annotations. In one embodiment, geographical locations may be highlighted using a color code on a heat map overlaid on the world map. The color code may represent the ranking of the geographical locations based on the calculated probability score for each identified geographical location.

Abstract: A method for demonstrating a domestic appliance, the domestic appliance having a controller, a display, and at least one user input component, the method comprising: displaying a plurality of images in accordance with a predetermined order on the display; while displaying a first image of the plurality of images in accordance with the predetermined order on the display, detecting at least one user input that is provided to the at least one user input component; responsive to the at least one user input, displaying a second image of the plurality of images that is associated with the at least one user input on the display for an amount of time; and subsequent to the amount of time, displaying the plurality of images on the display in accordance with the predetermined order resuming with a third image, said second image being different from said first image and said third image.

Abstract: A system, method and various user interfaces provide an embedded web-based video player for navigating video playlists and playing video content. A website publisher can create and store a video player with customized parameters (e.g., player type, appearance, advertising options, etc.) and can associate the player with a playlist of selected videos. The stored video player is associated with a player ID in a player database and can be embedded in a website using an embed code referencing the player ID. A user interface for the embedded player provides controls for controlling video playback and for controlling the selection of a video from the playlist.

Abstract: A video display apparatus for displaying a catalog of one or more candidate video items for replay, each video item being represented in the catalog by a catalog entry having at least one displayed representative image comprises a user control device operable to resize a displayed catalog entry by a select-and-drag operation; and means responsive to a resizing of a catalog entry to select a number of distinct representative images, for display in respect of that video item, so that the number displayed increases with increasing size of the catalog entry while the display size of each representative image stays substantially constant with respect to changes in the catalog entry size.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for scrolling a virtual keyboard on a touch screen device including a display. A first aspect allows detecting a user contact swipe motion in a predetermined direction along said keyboard, scrolling said keyboard across said display in accordance with said motion, and stopping said scrolling upon termination of user contact swipe motion. A second aspect allows scrolling of a virtual keyboard to snap to an intelligent position based on a song key or relative minor of the song key. A third aspect allows a note to be held when a user's finger remains in contact with the display even though the finger is no longer in contact with a key linked to the note on the keyboard as a result of scrolling.
