Abstract: A method for providing control signals may include, but is not limited to: detecting a first user input associated with at least one graphical user interface element; transmitting one or more control signals associated with the at least one graphical user interface element in response to the first user input; detecting a second user input associated with a grouping of two or more graphical user interface elements; and transmitting one or more control signals associated with the grouping of two or more graphical user interface elements in response to the second user input.

Abstract: A system and method are described for storing and transmitting a sequence of presentations for display on a viewer's computer. A viewer interface is configured to receive a request to access the presentation and to transmit a script to the viewer's computer responsive to receipt of the request. An output module is configured to establish a state where a current presentation in the sequence is presented. The output module presents the first item to the viewer's computer in response to the request to receive the current item. The viewer interface is further configured to present the second item to the viewer's computer. The first presentation item corresponds to a first content of a first content type and the second presentation item corresponds to a second content of a second content type, the first content type being different from the second content type.

Abstract: Various techniques for adaptively varying audio feedback data on an electronic device are provided. In one embodiment, an audio user interface implementing certain aspects of the present disclosure may devolve or evolve the verbosity of audio feedback in response to user interface events based at least partially upon the verbosity level of audio feedback provided during previous occurrences of the user interface event. In another embodiment, an audio user interface may be configured to vary the verbosity of audio feedback associated with a navigable list of items based at least partially upon the speed at which a user navigates the list. In a further embodiment, an audio user interface may be configured to vary audio feedback verbosity based upon the contextual importance of a user interface event. Electronic devices implementing the present techniques provide an improved user experience with regard to audio user interfaces.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus associate a computed trust level to avatars that interact with one another in a simulated environment. The avatars may represent legitimate users of the virtual world or spammers. System monitoring of each avatar provides ability to recognize potential spammers and create an alternate indication of the spammers. A user index may be used to store data describing attributes of each avatar for analysis using programs stored in memory.

The method also includes detecting at least one gesture from the second user, where the detecting of the at least one gesture indicates that the second user intends to be a current presenter. The method also includes causing the user interface to display the second user video stream in the current presenter position and to display the first user video stream in the secondary presenter position in response to the detecting.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods, apparatus, systems, and computer readable storage media for interacting with components across different domains in a single user interface in an online social network. The user interface includes a first component and a second component, where the first component exposes content from a first database system at a first network domain and the second component exposes content from a second database system at a second network domain. A first interaction with the first component is received at a computing device, followed by a reference being provided in the second component, where the reference includes information related to the first interaction. A second interaction with the second component regarding the reference can be received at the computing device. Interactions between the components hosted on different database systems can occur through an application programming interface (API).

The computer readable program includes instructions that, when executed by a processing device within a computer, cause the computer to perform operations. The operations include displaying an attraction icon on a display device, moving the attraction icon relative to a user interface control on the display device. The operations further include moving the user interface control from a first position on the display device to a second position to facilitate manipulation of the user interface control by a user, and restoring the user interface control to the first position in response to completion of the manipulation of the user interface control by the user.

Abstract: Training for a multimodal user interface may be organized into a plurality of modules. In embodiment, modules may include data corresponding to a “Push to Talk” tool, a set of data corresponding to navigation through a graphic user interface via voice input, and a set of data corresponding to entering data into a graphic user interface via voice input. Such training may be implemented in a variety of manners, including those which utilize data stored on a computer readable medium. Also, the structure and content of training may be streamlined and directed towards teaching a user to operate a multimodal user interface in an adequate manner. The structure and content of training may be configured to work in conjunction with the operation of a multimodal user interface being used in a real-time setting.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for providing a display of clusters is provided. A plurality of cluster spines is presented in a two-dimensional display. Each cluster spine includes a vector of document clusters. A compass is positioned over at least a portion of the clusters of one or more of the spines. A spine label for at least one of the spines within the compass is placed around a circumference of the compass. One of the spine labels is pinned to the compass at a fixed location. The compass is reoriented within the display and the pinned spine label is displayed at the fixed location on the reoriented compass.

Abstract: A method and apparatus which efficiently inputs characters through a touch screen in a mobile communication terminal is provided. The method, for inputting characters through a touch screen in a mobile communication terminal, includes displaying a virtual keyboard including a plurality of keyboard keys on the touch screen in response to a character input request, inputting an input signal through the touch screen; and inputting a corresponding character, if the input signal is a click signal. If the input signal is a drag signal, the virtual keyboard is moved. Therefore, the character input method and apparatus display a virtual keyboard that is greater than the touch screen and thus reduce the user character input errors.

At least one item of information accessed through the web browser is captured and visually represented in a defined organizational area of a display. A relevance index is calculated for each item of information that is visually represented to a current web-browsing behavior. The relevance index is conveyed for each item of information to the current web-browsing behavior to a user of the web browser.

Abstract: In a mobile phone 1, when displaying content received from a television broadcast receiving section 17 or the like in a display section 19 capable of three-dimensional display, a central controlling section 11 judges the suitability in 3D display of the content based on the reception condition at the time of the content reception, and displays the content in the display section 19 in accordance with display control determined based on the suitability in 3D display. As a result, a suitable display ranging from an easy-to-view 2D display to a realistic 3D display is actualized based on a reception condition of content.
