  • Patent number: 5192195
Abstract: A scroll type compressor has bypass ports which communicate with the compression chambers. The bypass ports are bored in an end plate of a stationary scroll. A capacity control block is contained inside a bypass passage which has the bypass ports communicate with a suction chamber formed in a housing. A valve mechanism which opens and closes the bypass passage is formed separately from the stationary scroll. The capacity control block is engaged with the stationary scroll and installed fixedly in the housing, thereby to control the output capacity of the compressor in a range from 0% to 100%.

  • Patent number: 5181832
Abstract: A housing for a fan motor for a portable paint spray gun has a compartment accessible from the bottom in which an air hose is storable and provides an air path from the fan motor to the air hose having a minimum number of turns or curves between the motor exhaust port and the air hose. The housing enhances portability by providing convenient storage for the air hose when not in use and increases fan motor efficiency by reducing drag on the air flow by providing a relatively low resistance air path from the fan motor to the air hose.

  • Patent number: 5180283
Abstract: A manually operated pump includes a pulley sheave oppositely wound with cord and rotatably mounted on a support element, a two-stage pump, and a reciprocal action shaft. The shaft is mounted eccentrically through the assembled pump, including through a clearance hole and slot in a main piston of the pump. The pump is a cylinder with a double-ended piston slidably mounted within and forming a main chamber at each end of the cylinder. An offset high pressure piston extends into the main chamber from each cylinder end for operation with offset high pressure chambers defined in each end of the double-ended piston. Passageways with differential air pressure valves lead from the slot to the main chambers, from the main chambers to the high pressure chambers, and from the high pressure piston to outlets.

  • Patent number: 5176506
Abstract: An improved lubrication system for a refrigeration compressor is disclosed which lubrication system incorporates filtering arrangement for filtering lubricant supplied to a two stage lubricant pump and unique venting arrangement for venting gaseous refrigerant entrained within the lubricant. The two stage pump incorporates a vent passage in the first stage portion thereof which aids in avoiding a possible interruption of lubricant flow due to gaseous refrigerant within the first stage. A second radially extending restricted vent passage is provided in the drive shaft intermediate the ends thereof which is also designed to vent gaseous refrigerant while resisting the flow of lubricant therethrough so as to avoid priming thereof which could enable the passage to begin pumping lubricant.

  • Patent number: 5174732
Abstract: A viscous fluid pressure-feed apparatus which feeds and drains a slurry of a highly viscous fluid in a casing to a filter press, or the like inside, or outside, an elastic film by pressurizing the elastic film through the feed/drain operation by an oil pressure generation apparatus outside, or inside, the elastic film which is supported by the casing. Particularly, a mechanical press-in apparatus such as a screw feeder is disposed at a suction port of the viscous fluid into the elastic film disposed in the casing so as to operate in synchronism with expansion and contraction of the flexible film and to compulsorily supply the slurry having a high viscosity from a slurry tank. Furthermore, a gas reservoir chamber is added to the casing and a gas exhaust valve is disposed in the gas reservoir chamber.

  • Patent number: 5171135
Abstract: A flexible valve retainer for a piston and suction valve assembly of a reciprocating piston hermetic compressor assembly. In the compressor assembly, the suction valve opens as a result of the fluid pressure generated by the reciprocating movement of the piston in the cylinder. As it opens, the suction valve is axially displaced from a closed position on the top surface of the piston to an open position a fixed distance therefrom, whereupon further axial movement is prevented as the suction valve strikes the valve retainer. The radially outer portion of the valve retainer deflects as a result of the impact with the suction valve. This deflection of the valve retainer lessens the detrimental effects caused by repeated impact between the suction valve and retainer. The valve retainer is formed from a flexible material such as spring steel or Swedish steel. The valve retainer comprises at least one washer coaxial with the suction valve, and spaced said fixed distance therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5171133
Abstract: A reciprocable plunger fuel injection pump has a pump body and a plunger slidable in a bore in the body. The plunger is coupled to an arm extending outwardly from the body and movable about the axis of the plunger in order to vary the angular setting of the plunger. A spring clip partly embraces a cylindrical portion of the pump body. The clip defines an abutment surface for engagement by the arm to set the arm and plunger at a predetermined angular position.

  • Patent number: 5171137
Abstract: Valve for a hermetic refrigeration compressor, having a cylinder block (10) with a cylinder (C) and a piston (20). A valve plate (30) attached to the cylinder block (10) has at least one axial gas passage (31, 32) communicating the inside of the cylinder (C) with the front face (30a) of the valve plate (30) through a respective reed valve at the outlet end (31b, 32b) of the respective gas passage (31, 32). The valve has a blade element (60, 80) and a biasing means (70, 90) disposed between the blade element (60, 80) and the valve plate (30) to displace said blade element to a partial opening position of the valve upon occurrence of pressure balance between the upstream and downstream regions of the valve, the biasing means (70, 90) itself being elastically deformed by the blade element (60, 80) when the valve closes, whenever the gas pressure downstream the valve exceeds the gas pressure upstream thereof.

  • Patent number: 5163827
Abstract: A compressor includes a cylinder, and a rotating body located in the cylinder, and a helical groove formed on the outer periphery of the rotating body. A helical blade is fitted in the groove and divides the space between the inner periphery of the cylinder and the outer periphery of the rotating body into operating chambers which have volumes gradually decreasing with distance from one end of the cylinder. • Patent number: 5163819
Abstract: A swash plate compressor is disclosed having double acting pistons that reciprocate in aligned sets of horizontally extending bores of a cylinder block to compress gaseous refrigerant. An improved asymmetrical arrangement of suction or intake ports is provided in at least the bottommost piston. The ports extend longitudinally through the operating heads of the piston and are connected by an open channel so as to provide fluid communication through the piston. A matching valve disc with a flexible ring is included so as to provide unidirectional flow through the suction ports during the intake stroke. The suction ports are on a constant radius arc spaced 30.degree. apart and are excluded from the lower 120.degree. portion of the piston to form the asymmetrical arrangement. Liquid lubricant in the reservoir pool adjacent the bottom of the crankcase is sufficiently spaced from the ports so that it is prevented from being drawn through the suction ports and into the cylinder bore, thus eliminating slugging.

  • Patent number: 5152676
Abstract: An aspirator fan is disclosed, which comprises a rotating shaft press-fitted in an impeller, a support member having an urging means and receiving one end of the rotating shaft for supporting the rotating shaft as a cantilever, and a shaft abutment member disposed in a casing and having a shaft abutment portion against which the opposite end of the rotating shaft is urged by the force of the resilient means. The aspirator fan is free of an alignment adjustment between the rotating shaft and bearings which is required in the casing of conventional aspirator fans. The shaft abutment member is structurally separated from the casing, so that even when the casing is deformed, a deformation of the casing has no effect on the rotation of the rotating shaft. The aspirator fan can, therefore, be operable with an improved reliability.
