Patent number: 10825292Abstract: A transaction is facilitated at a business's touchpoint by transmitting from a wireless device (e.g., a patron's cell phone) to a transaction server operated by a transaction-funding business: patron-identifying information for the patron and a touchpoint ID associated with the touchpoint read using the wireless device. The transaction server authorizes the transaction, transmits that authorization to the cell phone and/or the touchpoint business, and the touchpoint business provides goods/services to the patron. In some implementations, the transaction-funding business transfers outgoing funds for the transaction to the touchpoint business and receives incoming funds for the transaction from the patron. In a casino, a patron can use his/her cell phone to purchase gaming credit at a gaming machine without using a paper voucher or currency. The transaction-funding business funds the purchase for the patron without any funds ever residing on or passing through the patron's cell phone.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2018Date of Patent: November 3, 2020Assignee: GLOBAL PAYMENTS GAMING SERVICES, INC.Inventor: Andrew J. Patent number: 10694990Abstract: The majority of cognitive virtual reality (VR) applications have been for therapy, and not cognitive screening/scoring. Provided herein is the BrightScreenerâ„¢ and its first pilot feasibility study for evaluating elderly with various degrees of cognitive impairment. BrightScreener is a portable (laptop-based) serious-gaming system which incorporates a bimanual game interface for more ecological 3D interaction with virtual worlds. A pilot study determined that BrightScreener is able to differentiate levels of cognitive impairment based solely on game performance, as well as to evaluate the technology acceptance by the target population. Subsequent group analysis of the Pearson correlation coefficient showed a high degree of correlation between the subjects' MMSE scores and their Composite Game Scores (0.90, |P|<0.01). Despite the small sample size (n=11), results suggest that serious-gaming strategies can be used as a digital technique to stratify levels of Cognitive Impairment.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2015Date of Patent: June 30, 2020Assignee: Bright Cloud International CorporationInventors: Grigore C. Patent number: 10674131Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are provided to arbitrate network bandwidth that is shared between multiple video players executing concurrently on one or more client platforms that each have at least one video data stream supplied over a data network. An amount of bandwidth available from the data network is determined. An arbitration module calculates whether the selected video players can sustain a video playback quality above a pre-defined threshold using the determined amount of bandwidth available, and a modify playback message is sent to at least one video player when the video playback quality is not sustainable. Various implementations could prioritize bandwidth based upon the content presented so that high-bandwidth scenes (e.g., action sequences) receive more bandwidth than more static scenes.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2019Date of Patent: June 2, 2020Assignee: DISH Technologies L.L.C.Inventor: Mark B.
