Abstract: This document describes tools that forward data packets having tags conforming to different formats. In one embodiment, the tools receive a data packet on each of a plurality of ports, each data packet comprising a tag conforming to a different format. The tools relay the data packets to a port capable of transmitting tags conforming to a plurality of formats. In another embodiment, the tools receive a plurality of data packets on a source port comprising a plurality of logical source ports, each of which is associated with a unique tag. At least one data packet is received on each logical source port. Each data packet includes the tag associated with the logical source port on which the data packet is received. The tools map each data packet to one of a plurality of virtual switches based on the logical source port on which the data packet is received.

  • Patent number: 7782799
Abstract: A Join message load control system in a network using a Protocol Independent Multicast-Source Specific Multicast (PIM-SSM) protocol, the Join message load control system including a source access hop router creating a SOURCE-INACTIVE message and transmitting the created SOURCE-INACTIVE message when a multicast traffic is not received from the multicast server during a set Keep-Alive Time (KAT), and the SOURCE-INACTIVE message including information on an update set time of a PIM Join message; and a group access hop router resetting the update set time of the PIM Join message when the SOURCE-INACTIVE message is received from the source access hop router. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce the periodical transmission of unnecessary Join(S, G) messages and thereby reduce traffic load in a network by adjusting a JP timer of the Join(S, G) message depending on whether a channel(S, G) is active or inactive.

  • Patent number: 7706288
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate monitoring RF channels in a wireless communication environment to determine whether one or more channels comprise a forward-link-only (FLO) signal. A receiver can receive a first RF channel with a FLO signal and can monitor other RF channels for FLO signals. Upon a determination that a monitored RF channel comprises a FLO signal, the receiver can switch between the first RF channel and the monitored RF channel to facilitate providing seamless reception of the FLO signal, which can be superframe synchronized between RF channels. FLO signal detection can be performed using one or more of a wide-area identification channel energy detection protocol and a wide-area overhead information symbol decoding error detection protocol.

  • Patent number: 7680135
Abstract: In an audio network system connecting a plurality of nodes in a ring form, a master node transmits a packet of frame data regularly every sampling cycle, such that the packet circulates through the nodes during the sampling cycle. The packet is provided with a plurality of regions for containing audio sample data in correspondence to a plurality of channels. A first node reads audio sample data from a particular region of the packet, which corresponds to a particular channel allocated to the first node, and stores the read audio sample data in a buffer. The first node acquires positional information indicating whether a second node which has written the audio sample data into the particular region is located upstream or downstream of the first node. The first node reads and outputs a previous one of the audio sample data from the buffer if the second node is located upstream of the first node, and outputs a current one of the audio sample data if the second node is located downstream of the first node.

  • Patent number: 7664113
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for system multiplexing and program element identification is disclosed. A multiplexer generates a sequence of transport packets and associated program element information tables (PEIT). The header of a transport packet carrying the PEIT includes a unique PEIT indicator. A de-multiplexer first locates the PEIT by the unique PEIT indicator in the transport packet header. The de-multiplexer utilizes the corresponding program element identifier (PEID) of the program specific information (PSI) to search for the required transport packet that contains the PSI. The de-multiplexer then locates and extracts the needed elementary streams by searching for the associated PEID in the PEIT. The elementary streams are then sent to decoders for further processing.

  • Patent number: 7664053
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and a system for implementing multicast using a slave block in DSL access technique. Several slave blocks are cascaded with a master block accessed to the DSL. The master block and slave block are respectively connected with DSL users via RTUs, and access an uplink via a network interface of the master block. The slave block is configured to support the IGMP proxy or the IGMP snooping so as to implement multicast function independently. This invention overcomes the shortcomings including the heavy burden on the master block, low efficiency and serious waste in bandwidth resulting from the fact that the operation of the slave block multicast member is implemented in the master block, thus increasing the efficiency of multicast and saving bandwidth of the master block.

  • Patent number: 7652975
Abstract: A method for verifying interoperability of an implementation of a communication standard includes monitoring a symbol comprising a set of subcarrier symbols in a communication stream, in which some of the subcarrier symbols of the symbol are generated from pilot symbols, transmitted on subcarriers in accordance with the standard. For a given implementation and a given symbol, it is known which subcarriers will be pilot symbols, and what their pilot symbol values will be. A communication stream, generated by an implementation that is interoperable with the standard, will contain expected pilot information. Using the implementation to be verified, a communication stream is generated, containing pilot information. The generated pilot information is compared with the expected pilot information, and interoperability is determined based on the result of the comparing.
