Abstract: A data synchronous system synchronizes, between servers each having a shared memory, data which are stored on the respective shared memories. The system includes a data writer which writes data into the shared memory in one of the servers and then generates write state information on the write state of data written in the shared memory; and a data communicator which reads out the written data and positional information about a position on the shared memory of the written data on the basis of the write state information, and transfers the read data and positional information from the one server to another or some other servers.

Abstract: The management of computers connected with I/O switch devices is simplified. A computer system S includes one or several computers (server devices), one or several I/O devices, one or several I/O switch devices, and a management server 101. Management server 101 is provided with a storage part storing I/O configuration information and I/O switch management information; and a processing part comparing pieces of I/O configuration information and pieces of I/O switch management information, judging whether there might be a mismatch in the connection configuration between a computer and an I/O device and, in case it is judged that there is a mismatch, terminating the activation for a computer having the mismatched connection configuration, allocating a substitutable I/O device, and updating said I/O switch management information.

Abstract: A method and a system for obtaining a Security Shell (SSH) host key of a managed device, including: while detecting the managed device, the management station obtaining the related information of the SSH host key in a UDP transport mode. According to the present invention, the management station can obtain the SSH host key and at the same time detect the managed device. As a result, the workload of the distribution management of the host key is reduced and the speed of the host key distribution is increased.

Abstract: Provided is a system and method for providing a real-time streaming service between terminals by using a wired/wireless communication channel. The system for providing a real-time streaming service between terminals includes a server terminal for parsing and separately storing header information of media data, decoding and outputting each of video and audio data included in the media data, and providing header information and the media data being currently reproduced in response to a sharing request for the media data; and a client terminal for generating a decoder by means of the header information received from the server terminal according to the sharing request for the media data being reproduced in the server terminal, decoding the media data provided from the server terminal by means of the generated decoder, and outputting the media data.

Abstract: Improved methods for providing recoverable workflow of complex and/or risk-prone workflows in a computer system or computer network include segmenting such workflows into sub-processes, associating a checkpoint with the end of each sub-process, and determining whether processing of each sub-process was successful. If so, a set of parameters is stored at each checkpoint before processing the next sub-process, but otherwise processing of the failed sub-process is retried, using the parameter set stored at the previous checkpoint. In one embodiment, the methods are implemented by a certified messaging capability that guarantees delivery of any message. In the event a hardware or software failure occurs during a sub-process execution, the certified messaging capability returns a failure indication, so that execution of the failed sub-process can be reinitiated. Improved computers and computer networks for providing recoverable workflow are also described.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for appliance host supported network-based application delivery is described. In one embodiment, a local client device requests access to a network-based application for use with data stored locally by the client. In one embodiment, an appliance host retrieves the network-based application from a remote server based upon the client request and negotiated access terms. In one embodiment, the appliance host operates much like a cache in that rather than automatically retrieving the client-requested network-based application from a remote server, the appliance host first determines if a local copy of the application is stored on the appliance host. If the network-based application is stored on the appliance host, whether pre-installed by the vendor or remaining from a previous client request, then the appliance host executes the locally stored version of the application rather than retrieving a copy from the remote server.

Abstract: A software distribution application supporting the installation of operating systems on pristine computers is proposed. A new configuration element is added for virtually defining an operating system; the configuration element points to a corresponding image of the operating system on different pristine servers. Moreover, the pristine computers can be defined in a target database before they actually exist; each pristine computer subscribes to a reference model specifying the installation of the operating system. A plan is then generated with actions for installing the operating system on the pristine computers. When the plan is submitted for execution, a plug-in module associates each pristine computer with the image of the operating system on the respective pristine server. In this way, as soon as a pristine computer is turned on and transmits a remote installation request to the pristine server the associated image is automatically installed.

A sub-management computer selects a destination computer forming a supply destination for digital content from a plurality of business computers or virtual computers, further selects the address information corresponding to the selected destination computer from a plurality of address information components, and allocates the selected address information to the digital content itself or to the storage device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for creating associations between messages in a stateless system. The method comprises adding a unique identification to a notification message at a gateway, and upon receiving a response from a user, identifying the unique identification within the response, and utilizing the unique identification to associate the response with the notification message.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for administering devices that include creating a user metric vector including a plurality of disparate user metrics, creating a plurality of user metric spaces, each user metric space including a plurality of metric ranges, and selecting, from the plurality of user metric spaces, a user metric space. Administering devices also includes determining whether the user metric vector is outside the selected user metric space, identifying an action in dependence upon the user metric vector, if the user metric vector is outside the selected user metric space, and executing the action.

Abstract: A network can be explored to investigate exploitive behavior. For example, network sites may be actively explored by a honey monkey system to detect if they are capable of accomplishing exploits, including browser-based exploits, on a machine. Also, the accomplishment of exploits may be detected by tracing events occurring on a machine after visiting a network site and analyzing the traced events for illicit behavior. Alternatively, site redirections between and among uniform resource locators (URLs) may be explored to discover relationships between sites that are visited.

Abstract: A service policy manager may be used to enable a first subscriber in a community to administer rules on another subscriber in the same community. A service selection gateway (SSG) may then be configured according to the rules to provides services according to the rules. As a result, the services provided to a subscriber depend not just on the individual profile of the subscriber, but also potentially on the rules administered by other members of the communities the subscriber is a part of.

Abstract: A network device and a method are provided. The network device may include a plurality of elements and a routing infrastructure. The routing infrastructure may be configured to route network traffic received at the network device, and transfer, among two or more of the elements, packets that include management information related to the routing of the network traffic.

Abstract: Switching real-time data stream connections between network nodes sharing a virtual area is described. In one aspect, the switching involves storing a virtual area specification. The virtual area specification includes a description of one or more switching rules each defining a respective connection between sources of a respective real-time data stream type and sinks of the real-time data stream type in terms of positions in the virtual area. Real-time data stream connections are established between network nodes associated with respective objects each of which is associated with at least one of a source and a sink of one or more of the real-time data stream types. The real-time data stream connections are established based on the one or more switching rules, the respective sources and sinks associated with the objects, and respective positions of the objects in the virtual area.

Abstract: A computer apparatus which integrates at least two or more services of user management domains has a processor, a memory and an interface. The processor receives an access request, specifies an access source domain, specifies an access target domain, and judges whether the specified access source domain matches the specified access target domain. If the access source domain is different from the access target domain, the processor extracts a user ID of the specified access source domain from the received access request, and refers to ID conversion information indicating correspondence of user IDs between the user management domains whose services are integrated to convert the extracted user ID of the access source domain into a user ID of the specified access target domain. Thus, loads of configuration at the time of service integration are reduced.

Abstract: Solutions are provided that allow a network device to apply flow control on the MAC layer while taking into account the priority of the frame of traffic. This may be accomplished by generating a frame indicating that traffic flow should be paused, while utilizing a new opcode value, or alternatively by utilizing a new type/length value (possibly combined with a new opcode value). A receiving device may then examine the fields of the frame to determine whether it should it should use priority-based pausing, and then examine other fields to determine which priority-levels to pause and for how long. This allows for improved efficiency in flow control at the MAC layer. Additionally, the tagged pause frames can be forwarded over multiple hops on Local Area Networks across a Metropolitan Area Network or Wide Area Network.

Abstract: In a method and system for monitoring events occurring at respective servers of a configuration of nodes, a first server located at a first node receives information from a messaging system pertaining to events at servers located at other nodes. The messaging system usefully comprises a highly available (HA) bulletin board or the like. When the first server receives a start event notification pertaining to a second server located at a second node, a direct communication path is established between the first and second servers. The first server identifies events in the second server that affect or are of interest to services of the first server. The first server then registers with the second server, to receive notification through the direct communication path when respective identified events occur.

Abstract: A method and system for selecting an external user interface using spatial information is described. In one configuration the floor space of a mailroom is mapped using a two dimensional grid. At least one machine is located on the mapped grid and an associated control zone is defined for that particular machine. The machine includes a wireless transceiver for providing user interface access. An external portable processor with a wireless transceiver is provided with user interface logic for the machine. A user then moves the external portable processor into the control zone of the machine. An indoor positioning system is utilized to provide relative or absolute position information relating to the machine and the external processor. The system determines that the external processor is in the machine control zone and allows the external processor to function as a user interface for the machine.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system that comprises a proxy server configured to receive a first service request message, to keep a message count based on an Internet protocol (IP) address, to drop the first service request message if the message count reaches a threshold, to build one or more executable, complex objects using more than one data items from the first service request message and an object definition schema, and to produce a second service request message by executing the one or more executable, complex objects.
