  • Patent number: 7747754
Abstract: Techniques allow a client to be migrated from a session that has been established for a client on a server to another session on another server in a way that is a transparent to the application for which the initial session was established. The sessions are migrated under conditions in which a copy of session state of the session to migrate from the source node does not have to be captured and restored to a destination session.

  • Patent number: 7747777
Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises logic for optimizing network resources usage. The logic is operable to store IGP information, where the IGP information includes a set of attribute values associated with each of a set of content servers. When the logic receives a request for content from a remote peer, the logic determines one or more content servers that can provide the requested content. The logic then retrieves, from the IGP information, a plurality of attribute values associated with a non-looping path from each of the one or more content servers. For each of the one or more content servers, the retrieved attribute values include: one or more capacity values indicating capacities of one or more communication links on the non-looping path from that content server; and one or more utilization values indicating utilizations of the one or more communication links on the non-looping path from that content server.

  • Patent number: 7743093
Abstract: Systems and methodologies that facilitate purchase and/or transfer of a domain name and access of users to the internet by using a well defined protocol to interact with a plurality of domain name registrars via employing a purchasing component and a mapping component. Once a user has identified a domain name, the purchasing component can automatically query the provider(s) for terms of the service plan to obtain such domain name. The mapping component can then point to a DNS provider designated to host such domain name, to manage in-bound traffic. The subject invention can also be implemented in web services based hosted solutions directory, for example by designation of a trusted on-line registry that registers a plurality of service providers to supply services to clients, with a secure communication between the clients and the trusted on-line registry for selection of a service provider.

  • Patent number: 7743143
Abstract: A method and system for capturing and reporting debug information regarding data transport failures in a multi-level secure operating environment. A process available only to a trusted system administrator is activated causing probe activation. The data transport command is repeated. The process probes the locations where the data packets move across environment boundaries of the secure network. When the data stops being transported, the process captures the relevant information on the type of failure, its cause, the address where it occurred and the possible consequence. The captured information can then be displayed to an appropriately credentialed administrator through a password-protected command for debug. The probes are then deactivated.

  • Patent number: 7739412
Abstract: Notifications are sent to a mobile device to indicate that there is data on a computing device to be synchronized. Upon receiving a notification, the mobile device determines if a minimum number of notifications required to begin synchronization have been received, where the minimum number is greater than one. If the minimum number of notifications has been received, a two-way communication channel is established and synchronization is performed.

  • Patent number: 7739371
Abstract: In a computer system, to enable a second computer to take over control of copying of data within the computer system, from a first computer that normally controls copying of data. The second computer selects from a plurality of storage systems a storage system to be accessed in order to acquire sub system pair information, and acquires sub system pair information from the selected storage system. Based on the acquired sub system pair information, the second computer generates system pair information that includes copy pair information relating to a plurality of storage areas belonging to the plurality of storage systems. The second computer initially selects a storage system directly linked to the second computer, and subsequently sequentially selects a storage system based on the acquired sub system pair information.

  • Patent number: 7734741
Abstract: A dynamic reconfiguration to include on-line addition, deletion, and replacement of individual modules of to support dynamic partitioning of a system, interconnect (link) reconfiguration, memory RAS to allow migration and mirroring without OS intervention, dynamic memory reinterleaving, CPU and socket migration, and support for global shared memory across partitions is described. To facilitate the on-line addition or deletion, the firmware is able to quiesce and de-quiesce the domain of interest so that many system resources, such as routing tables and address decoders, can be updated in what essentially appears to be an atomic operation to the software layer above the firmware.

  • Patent number: 7734801
Abstract: An apparatus and method for acquiring Internet real-time media channels in a private network. The method includes receiving a service advertisement from a media channel server. The media channel server acts as a gateway between one or more channel service providers and a plurality of rendering devices on a private network. A subscription identifier (ID) and a URI (Universal Resource Identifier) are sent to the media channel server to enable the media channel server to request Internet channel information from one or more channel service providers. If the subscription identifier (ID) is validated by the one or more channel service providers, the Internet channel information is provided from the one or more channel service providers via the media channel server.

  • Patent number: 7734757
Abstract: A method and system for allowing communication devices to synchronously manage shared information are provided. A sender sends single-photon pulses modulated with original random numbers to a receiver and also sends frame pulses by using ordinary optical pulses. Bit comparison and basis reconciliation are performed by the frame which is defined by the frame pulses, whereby sifted keys, which are aggregated as a file, are generated by the sender and the receiver individually. The sifted keys are subjected to error correction, privacy amplification, and file sharing processing by the file, whereby common cryptographic keys are synchronously stored in the sender and the receiver individually. The generated cryptographic keys are managed as encryption keys and decryption keys separately. A newly generated key is preferentially placed in the encryption keys or decryption keys that have a smaller stored amount.

  • Patent number: 7725597
Abstract: An overlay network uses flexible neighbor selection based on network address translation (NAT) to define routing between nodes. The NAT type is used as a flexible neighbor selection criteria, either alone or in conjunction with other criteria. A method of selecting a neighboring node for a first node in a distributed hash table network includes determining a desired key value for a node finger table entry and requesting a set of candidate neighboring nodes near this desired key value. The method determines a network address translation type of each of the set of candidate neighboring nodes and ranks the set of candidate neighboring nodes accordingly. The method selects one of the set of candidate neighboring nodes based on the ranking. The NAT types of candidate neighboring nodes are determined by sending probe messages or from data received from a central overlay network server.
