Abstract: In accordance with aspects of the disclosure, a computing device may provide a user interface for developing an interactive natural-language response system, which may include a virtual assistant. A user may interact with a system using spoken, written (e.g., text), or other input methods. The user interface may allow a user to associate sentences with intents, tag words within the sentences with concepts, and construct a grammar using the associated intents and tagged concepts. The system may use the grammar for automatically predictively associating sentences with intents and words with concepts. The system may display in the foam of a chat transcript a single branch of a tree of a discussion between the virtual assistant and a user. The user interface may graphically display variable values to assist a user to test system responses under different simulated conditions.

Abstract: A content item includes content such as video. A preview of a content item that includes video is displayed by an electronic device, where displaying the preview includes playing the video. A user input selecting the content item is detected. In response to detecting the user input, the electronic device transitions from displaying the preview of the content item to displaying the content item, wherein displaying the content item includes displaying a portion of the content item not displayed in the preview. Furthermore, the electronic device continues to play the video while transitioning from displaying the preview of the content item to displaying the content item, and while displaying the content item.

Abstract: A method of associating an electronic message social profile with electronic messages. The method comprises identifying a plurality of users having a social affinity to one another, tagging each of a plurality of electronic messages received at a plurality of messaging accounts of the plurality of users with at least one user behavior tag indicative of a behavioral messaging action performed by one of the plurality of users, identifying a cluster of electronic messages having a common content from the plurality of electronic messages according to a similarity analysis, calculating, using a processor, an electronic message social profile for members of the cluster based on a combination of respective the at least one user behavior tag of the members of the cluster, and associating the electronic message social profile with the members of the cluster.
Abstract: A method, program product, and system for inputting Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) characters into a touchscreen-enabled device is provided. The touchscreen-enabled device receives a plurality of finger touch events. Each of the plurality of finger touch events is a CJK text input stroke associated with a corner of the touchscreen-enabled device. A finger touch movement direction on the touchscreen-enabled device is determined for each of the plurality of finger touch events. In response to determining the finger touch movement direction, the finger touch movement direction associated with each of the plurality of finger touch events is converted to a numeric index value. The corner that is activated by each of the plurality of finger touch events is determined and associated to the numeric index value.

Abstract: A user interface configuration may permit a user to make selections while the interface is dynamically adjusting and reconfiguring its layout and appearance for optimized user satisfaction. One example method of operation may include receiving an input command on a first menu displayed on a touch receptive surface of a user device, selecting a menu item responsive to the received at least one input command and receiving an additional input command that is different from the first input command type. The method may also provide identifying the additional input command as a multiple item gesture command, and storing the multiple item gesture command in memory.

Abstract: The invention is directed to an electronic device. The electronic device provides, for display on a display device, a user interface including a first set of columns, two or more columns in the first set of columns each including two or more menu items. The electronic device receives a selection input. In response to receiving the selection input, in accordance with a determination that the selection input corresponds to selection of a first column the electronic device provides, for display on the display device, a second set of columns, two or more of the columns in the second set of columns corresponding to different subsets of menu items that were displayed in the first column that was selected in response to the selection input.

Abstract: A system for computer-aided design of an object, including a first computer system operated by a first user, a second computer system operated by a second user, an application server hosting a design software application, and a web server providing an interface for at least the first user to access the design software application. The design software application may be configured to receive a first input comprising a first modification to a design template or creating a new design from the first computer system, receive a second input comprising a second modification to the design template from second computer system, and modify the design template based on the first and second modifications to generate a modified design.
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided to allow for improved media content navigation. Metadata such as closed captioning, social media content, and tags associated with various media segments are analyzed to allow identification of particular entities depicted in the various media segments. Image recognition and audio recognition algorithms can also be performed to further identify entities or validate results from the analysis of metadata.
Abstract: Control of a computing device using gesture inputs. The computing device may be a handheld computing device with a plurality of displays. The displays may be capable of displaying a graphical user interface (GUI). The plurality of displays may be modified in response to receipt of a gesture input such that a hierarchical application having related GUI screens are modified in response to the gesture input. The modification may include changing the hierarchical application from being displayed in a single screen mode to being displayed in a multi screen mode or vice versa.

Abstract: Approaches enable three-dimensional (3D) display and interaction with interfaces (such as a webpage, an application, etc.) when the device is operating in a 3D view mode. For example, interface elements can be highlighted, emphasized, animated, or otherwise altered in appearance, and/or arrangement in the renderings of those interfaces based at least in part on an orientation of the device or a position of a user using the device. Further, the 3D view mode can provide for an animated 3D departure and appearance of elements as the device navigates from a current page to a new page. Further still, approaches provide for the ability to specify 3D attributes (such as the appearance, action, etc.) of the interface elements. In this way, a developer of such interfaces can use information (e.g., tags, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) to specify a 3D appearance change to be applied to at least one interface element when the 3D view mode is activated.

Abstract: A declarative user interface representation in one declarative format can be converted to a declarative user interface representation in a different declarative format. Templates can rely on template helpers for mapping and programmatic extensions to support a wide variety of declarative formats. Complex scenarios such as composition and decomposition of properties across declarative representations can be supported. A hierarchical approach facilitates development and maintenance of solutions.
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed towards automatically determining a context of an communication which is to be sent to a first user (615). Once the communication context is determined, other users are automatically suggested to receive the communication in that a characteristic of the user profiles of the suggested users match the context of the communication (630). The communication can then be forwarded to the suggested users in accordance with user input (635).

Abstract: Applications on a computing device provide notifications associated with the application to a notification system. A notification includes an identification of content to be presented for the notification and an indication of when the content is to be presented. The notification system presents the notification content at the appropriate time regardless of whether the application is executing and without resuming execution of the application if the application is not running. Various power efficiency techniques are also used to determine which notifications are presented and when a user interface is updated to reflect those notifications in order to avoid updating the user interface to reflect notifications that would not be observable (e.g., due to a power mode of the computing device).
