Abstract: A method for automatically forming the clearest and most useful visual plot for a given dataset of tuples. A best view type is selected for a view that includes a subsequently added new field. The visual plot is populated with the data in the view and then automatically rendered for the user. A dataset that is retrieved from a storage is analyzed to identify all the data types found in the dataset, and to determine the best view type to assign to the dataset's views. The visual plot is then populated with the data according to this best view type, and is automatically rendered for the user.

Abstract: A system and method for creating conversation in a computer program such as a videogame. A plurality of classes of dialog is provided and a conversation segment is assigned to each class. A graphical interface is displayed during operation of the program that provides a choice indicator, wherein the choice indicator has a plurality of selectable slots, each associated with a dialog class. The graphical interface is consistent as to the position of dialog classes throughout at least a segment of the program.

Abstract: A graphical user interface displays performance data related to a communication session between a first computing device and a second computing device. The graphical user interface comprises a first graphical element and a second graphical element. The first graphical element has a number of sections that represent respective physical portions of a connection between the first computing device and the second computing device. Each of the sections displays the performance data of a current session for that respective physical section. The second graphical element displays corresponding performance data for a predetermined number of previous sessions between the first computing device and the second computing device.

Next, a graphical representation of the graphical workflow programming object is provided where the graphical representation is adapted to be selected by an administrator of the graphical workflow programming environment and inserted into the process canvas, wherein the graphical workflow programming object comprises a graphical decision point that is adapted to route the documents based on contents of the documents.

Abstract: A community accessed via a portal can be provided that maintains user membership during collaboration on various projects. The members of the community can have access to and share multiple resources. A resource can have a menu associated with it wherein the menu is dynamically displayed on the portal page upon the user right clicking on the resource. Each menu can have several menu items that when selected, execute various actions associated with the resource or perform some other community function. For example, the menu item can call a page flow action, a Javascript function or make a dynamic content update. An active menu tag library can be provided that allows a developer to create customizable new menus and menu items for a given resource by including a tag and specifying tag parameters.

Abstract: A representation of a physical object can be displayed even where the amount of geometric data is too large to be stored in resident memory. A primary viewing window displays point data for the object using a substantially even sampling of data at an appropriate point density for the system. At least one auxiliary viewing window displays a two-dimensional representation of the point data. A user can select a portion of the data in the auxiliary window(s), such as by selecting cells of an overlaid grid, to be displayed in the primary window using a rendering such as a “visible” rendering. The remainder of the displayed data can be displayed using a rendering such as a “hidden” or “transparent” rendering. The resolution of the selected region can be increased while maintaining a substantially even spacing among points for the region. Abstract: An audiovisual reproduction system triggered by payment from a user is developed around a microprocessor device. The system includes memory containing, in compressed digital form, audio and visual information, and a display and digital audio reproduction unit, for creating a multimedia environment. The display includes a video monitor and an interactive user interface which reacts to external events and translates the external events for a multitasking operating system as events activating, via a graphical module of a library of integrated tools and services, a display of windows or frames providing control of physical operating parameters of the audiovisual reproduction system. The external events includes at least a down-event where the user contacts a representation displayed on the touch screen, selecting a parameter to modify, and an up-event where the use breaks contact with the screen, which triggers modification of the selected parameter saving these parameters in the memory.

Abstract: In a GUI environment including a plurality of windows, a user may establish one or more groups of windows such that the windows comprising each group are related. The user may cycle focus successively between the windows in the group in response to a focus cycle command input by the user. The focus may cycle bidirectionally between the windows in the group in response to bi-directional focus cycle command inputs by the user. The user may shift focus to a window outside of the group by entering a focus shift command.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a computer-based application that allows its users to insert their pictures in a variety of different photo album books (called photo books below). Each photo book has several pages that have one or more picture fields for presenting pictures. Different photo books can differ in their size, themes, covers, page designs, page colors, picture-field designs, picture-field layouts, and/or other attributes. In some embodiments, the application also allows the users to modify photo books that they select. For instance, in some embodiments, a user can modify the page design, color, frame design, and/or other thematic aspects of a selected photo books. Also, in some embodiments, the user can add picture and text fields to the photo book. Once the user has completed designing the photo book and inserting pictures in the photo book, the user can order the photo book through an online transaction that is initiated through the application.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for combining the user interfaces of several applications is disclosed. Data generated by a first application is extracted from a display buffer. The data is associated with a user interface from the first application. From the extracted data, a layout pattern is recognized. Using the layout, an overlay is created. The overlay is used to display a second data generated by a second application. There is no direct link between the first application and the second application.

Abstract: A content introduction screen linked to relevant sites can easily be created. A content-information input screen is displayed. When content information has been completely input, then, link elements are extracted from the content information. Then, one of the link elements is selected. A site related to the link element is searched for. A content introduction screen in which the input content information is linked to the searched site is generated and displayed. Metadata, including the content information, the URL, etc., which are used to generate the content introduction screen, is stored.

Abstract: An exemplary method for handling a hidden dialog in a media centered graphical user environment is presented including: detecting the hidden dialog; determining whether the hidden dialog is an approved dialog; if the hidden dialog is an approved dialog, providing a notification to a user of the hidden dialog such that the media centered graphical user environment is interrupted; and if the hidden dialog is not an approved dialog, ignoring the hidden dialog such that the media centered graphical user environment is uninterrupted. In some embodiments, the hidden dialog originates from any WINDOWS™ compatible program. In some embodiments, the hidden dialog is a pop-up notification. In some embodiments, the approved dialog is user configurable. Abstract: An editing environment is disclosed having both a design and code views, each with its own undo/redo stacks. The editing environment includes logic to form an object that encapsulates the edits and changes made during a code view editing session. The object is associated or pointed to an element in the design view undo/redo stack. When the editing environment receives an undo/redo command in which a code view edit block is to be undone, the design view takes the specific object, which is then translated back into the proper format for code view execution. The code view then executes the undo/redo entries and returns any remaining code view edits that were not undone or redone, to the design view to place back into a code view edit block in either of the design view undo/redo stacks, along with the new related object.
