  • Patent number: 5394684
Abstract: A process and apparatus for the control of a yarn storage mechanism on a spinning mill machine is proposed. When yarns are wound up it may occur, e.g. in forming conical bobbins, that more yarn is delivered than is wound up. The yarn which is briefly in excess is here taken up in form of a yarn loop by a compensator arm which intervenes transversely in the course of the yarn and is mounted so as to be capable of swivelling. According to the invention it is proposed that the compensator arm be subjected to the force of a spring which acts upon it increasingly as the yarn loop decreases, and in that the force of an additional elastic element acts upon the compensator arm as further excursion occurs.

  • Patent number: 5395066
Abstract: A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus that realizes a DTF control in a wide frequency range and a noiseless high-speed replay at several tens of times the normal replay speed without degradation of picture quality. Optimum contact between the head of the apparatus and the tape is provided at all times by performing tension control with high precision and in a wide frequency range. A pair of supply side stationary pins and a supply side movable pin driven by a supply side tape actuator is provided on the magnetic tape supply side of the head cylinder that has a rotary head. By controlling the supply side tape actuator to move the movable pin, the tension of the magnetic tape at the head cylinder can be controlled by taking into account the acceleration of the deck. When the tape is replayed at a speed different from the recording speed, the supply side tape actuator and a takeup side tape actuator are operated differentially from each other to perform good tracking.

  • Patent number: 5393003
Abstract: A device for the at least partially automatic handling of empty bobbin cases and fully wound bobbins in spinning machines is designed to provide a system by which the manipulation of both finished bobbins and also empty cases is simplified, while a special aim of the invention is to automate the removal and insertion processes as completely as possible. This is achieved in that on a shared fixture frame (12) there is a reception/transfer arm (8) for empty cases (5), a reception/transfer arm (6) for bobbins (4) and an actuating and pivoting mechanism (16-18) to take arms (6,8) from a stopped to a transport position.

  • Patent number: 5392976
Abstract: A master tape movable in a closed loop including a pinch roller transfers a mirror image to a slave tape movable in a closed loop including a capstan. A thermomagnetic layer on the slave tape has a Curie temperature above which magnetic information is destroyed and below which magnetic information can be recorded on such layer. The thermomagnetic layer is heated above the Curie temperature, thereby becoming lengthened by thermal expansion just before the slave tape reaches the capstan. A downstream portion of a peripheral surface, preferably defining a cylindrical segment, on a first guide receives a pressurized fluid for sensing the tape tension in accordance with the tape width, distance from the cylinder axis and fluid pressure. An upstream portion of the guide peripheral surface receives a vacuum adjustable to regulate tape tension in response to variations in the pressurized fluid pressure.

  • Patent number: 5379956
Abstract: A spool holder having a carrier arm (7) can carry thread spools having cylindrical or conical cores (3). This arm has a contact surface (8) for the core (3) and at the distal end thereof, an angled surface (10). This angled surface diverges at the free end of the carrier arm 7. Carrier arm 7 also has a freely hanging lever(11, 13) hinged about its upper end. The lever has such a length that when the core face (4) rides on the inclined surface (10), the lever contacts the core wall. This gives rise to a secure clamping of the core during use, coupled with an automatic freeing of the empty core when the carrier arm downwardly tips.

  • Patent number: 5377922
Abstract: In a sensing and analyzing system for a yarn feeder with yarn storing unit, one or more sensor elements which may be coupled to one or more circuits are used for evaluating or sensing sensor information. At least one sensor element is placed in the unit, from a yarn detection standpoint, in an uncritical relationship to the unit's yarn transporting surface and a yarn turn travelling forward on this. The transmitting members are designed to relay information from each sensor element in the unit in unprocessed or processed form to receiving members located outside the unit. Energy emitting members within the unit ensure energy supply to the sensor elements and the circuits belong thereto. When using optical emitting elements, these are included in an arrangement which supplements or alternatively substantially reduces the influence of vibrations in the unit on the sensing or analyzing result.

  • Patent number: 5374035
Abstract: A winch includes a reversible electrical motor with output shaft which drives a drum through a drive mechanism with multiple sprockets and gears to take up and let out a cable. The output shaft is connected through a one-way bearing to a brake hub. The brake lining on a brake arm is spring biased into engagement with the hub and prevents reverse rotation of the output shaft unless an electrical switch actuator is moved to a reverse position, camming the brake arm out of braking relationship with the hub. The drive mechanism may also be powered manually in the forward direction. If free-wheeling of the drum is desired, a knob is rotated to disconnect a clutch in the drive mechanism.
