  • Patent number: 5269478
Abstract: A bobbin trace system in which a bar code for distinguishing a bobbin is affixed on a tray on which the bobbin to be fed from the spindle on the fine spinning frame to the winder is inserted upright, the bar code is read by a bar code reader and at the same time the yarn characteristic of the bobbin of the code is detected, the yarn characteristic thus detected is transferred to the controller which controls the operation of the winder, and the controller reads the code of the tray to be fed to the winder and feeds the bobbin characteristic corresponding to this code back to the winder, thereby controlling the operation of the winder on the basis of the bobbin characteristic thus fed back.

  • Patent number: 5267705
Abstract: An apparatus for storing and unwinding wire rolls containing electrical conductors that are not wound on a reel but form coils by their own semi-rigid structure. The apparatus is a rigid container formed by a first side panel spaced from a second side panel by a series of rotatable rollers that form a U-shaped configuration to accept and facilitate the unwinding of a roll of wire through the open top of the apparatus. Two opposing face panels attached to the vertical edges of the side panels and a base panel complete the basic container structure. A spring loaded interior panel located between, and parallel to, the first and second side panels provides necessary horizontal force to hold a roll of wire in a vertical position while the rollers support the wire roll from below. Carrying handles in the side panels are provided for transporting the device while a similar handle on the interior panel allows the user to manually move the panel for loading or unloading wire rolls.

  • Patent number: 5263656
Abstract: A receiver for supporting one end of a bobbin tube in a spinning or bobbin winding machine has a tube-engaging plate member with a nose member mounted on the plate member for movement between a normal resting position and an operating position A yarn delivery device guides the yarn into the range of movement of the nose member. A contoured yarn clamping surface and a contoured yarn guide surface are formed on the plate member. The nose member initially catches the yarn and clamps it on the clamping surface, drawing the yarn end out of the delivery device, and then guides the yarn via the yarn guide contour in the direction of the middle of the bobbin tube. The nose member is thereby surrounded by a loop of the yarn and extends over the foot end of the tube in the direction of lengthwise the middle of the tube to orient the yarn loop adjacent to the winding area for the yarn reserve windings.

  • Patent number: 5261625
Abstract: The disclosure describes herein a box within which is mounted a reel having a supply of wire, cable or the like to be dispensed. An opening is provided in one of the walls of the box to allow the egress of one end of the strand. A cover securely contains the reel within the box. Also mounted within the box is a brake device which has a portion slidingly contacted by the strand prior to egressing from the box. An external pull on the strand frees interengageable elements on the brake device and on one of the side plates of the reel from blocking rotation of the reel in one direction. As soon as a pull is no longer exerted on the strand, a resilient element on the brake device urges the elements to interengage to thereby stop rotation of the reel.

  • Patent number: 5255502
Abstract: In a spun yarn forming textile machine, when a spun yarn delivered from a yarn forming device at a predetermined constant speed and a yarn withdrawn from a yarn package are pieced to each other, a splicer is used to piece together the yarn. After withdrawing a yarn from a yarn package with a predetermined length, the yarn piecing operation is carried out. Rotation of the yarn package is started before the yarn piecing operation is completed. Therefore, snarling can be prevented and the construction of the yarn storing means can be simplified.

  • Patent number: 5255863
Abstract: A method for producing a coreless coil of strand-like material in which the strand-like material, which may be wire, insulated or non-insulated cable, glass fiber or the like, is wound in several layers on a substantially cone-shaped winding spool. The layers are inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the winding spool. The first pair of layers each contain N.sub.1 windings. The second pair of layers each contain N.sub.2 =N.sub.1 +.DELTA.N windings, where N is a constant value. In this manner, the number of windings for consecutive layer pairs is increased until the total number of possible windings for a predetermined winding pitch is reached. The layers of each pair are wound by a take-up apparatus that moves in a first direction for winding one of the layers of a pair and in a second opposite for direction for winding the other layer of the pair. A coreless coil produced by such a method, an apparatus for carrying out the method, and an apparatus for unwinding a coreless coil also are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5251834
Abstract: In a traveling wire take-up method and machine of a wire coating line, a wire shifting guide lever of a take-up machine shifts a traveling wire toward a snagger of a bobbin holder to change over from a presently take-up bobbin to an empty bobbin. A take-up tension of the traveling wire is increased before the changeover operation, and the take-up tension of the traveling wire is reduced to a predetermined take-up tension after the changeover operation has been finished. Furthermore, increase and decrease of the take-up tension is preferably controlled by adjusting an output of a sheave motor in a dancer roller disposed in front of the take-up machine.

  • Patent number: 5251844
Abstract: A gimbaled compliant guide for tape drives includes two plates mounted adjacent opposite edges of an arcuate tape bearing surface. The plates are pivotably mounted to accommodate variances in the tape path resulting from tape path tolerances and tape distortions. One plate is also mounted to a leaf spring to accommodate variations in tape width. The combination of simple compliancy and the ability to pivot eliminates the concentration of the stress at a single contact point between the tape edge and the guiding mechanism. By evenly distributing the stress along the span of contact between the edge of the tape and the guides, particulate matter generated from such contact is minimized. Such guiding mechanism may be used on any element of the tape path.
