  • Patent number: 5372328
Abstract: A shaft on which a restraint belt is wound is rotatably mounted in the side walls of a U-shaped frame. A plastic belt guide is connected by side arm belt edge protectors to tubular flanges that form bushings for the shaft. A driving hub mounted on the shaft drives a locking hub through a clutch formed of ball bearings mounted in recesses in the faces of the hubs. Belt payout rotation of the shaft at a predetermined acceleration will cause the locking hub to rotationally lag. This causes the locking hub to move axially and further causes locking teeth on the locking hub to engage holes in the sidewall of the frame. This prevents further rotation until the belt extension load on the belt is removed. A synchronization spring arrests rotation of the locking hub as it moves axially into locking position.

  • Patent number: 5370325
Abstract: A process and apparatus for the winding of a thread onto a reel.A thread is guided by a thread guide fastened to a cord. The cord is driven by a drive part, which, under the action of a transfer roller engaging in a slot, executes a harmonic oscillation. A transfer roller is attached to a disc-shaped bearing part, driven by means of a driving wheel, and can, for changing the amplitude of the harmonic oscillation, be displaced in the radial direction by utilizing an electric motor.

  • Patent number: 5370290
Abstract: A pusher system (12) extracts a wire (11) from a reservoir (10) and feeds the wire through a wire guide (13) to a puller system (14). The puller system then feeds the wire (11) through a tip (15) to the welding operation represented by an arc (16) and a work piece (17). The pusher system (12) has a motor (20) adjusted so as to feed the wire (11) at the desired rate. A pair of rollers (22), which are driven by the motor (20), are designed to slip on the wire (11) if the wire becomes jammed or blocked. The puller system (14) has a limited torque motor (30). The limited torque motor (30) drives a pair of rollers (32) which firmly grip the wire (11) and do not slip on the wire (11). If the wire (11) becomes blocked or jammed then the motor (30) will stall. The combination of the pusher system (12) and the puller system (14) provides a wire feeder which does not damage the wire (11) and which does not cause birdnesting if the wire is jammed or blocked.

  • Patent number: 5370338
Abstract: A centerflow dispenser for dispensing a rolled paper product which includes a device for varying the diameter of the dispensing orifice to accommodate rolled paper products of various weights, widths, bulks and tensile strengths. The dispenser includes a rear housing, a front housing pivotally attached to the rear housing, the rear housing having extending therefrom a support member or bottom housing upon which a rolled paper product is placed. In one embodiment, the support member has attached thereto a rotatable disk with a plurality of a different diameter orifices disposed in the periphery thereof. The disk can be rotated such that each orifice in turn comes in at a vertical overlapping relationship with an exit port in the support member. In such manner, the desired orifice can be selected for the particular paper product being dispensed. In a second embodiment, interchangeable U-shaped members are supplied, each having a different diameter orifice therein.

  • Patent number: 5370326
Abstract: A device used for winding line from a bulk supply onto a reusable spool. The empty spool is placed on a shaft having a plate on one end to hold the spool and a threaded portion on the other end. Then, the shaft is positioned through a sleeve with an integral plate for holding the spool. The sleeve rests in a bearing member supported by a base. A hub with internal threads screws onto the shaft pulling the two plates together. Once the spool is held tightly between the two plates, the hub engages the sleeve and the spool begins to rotate with the hub, sleeve, plates, and shaft.

  • Patent number: 5348242
Abstract: A yarn winding apparatus for winding a cross wound package, and comprising a cutting blade arranged below the traversing triangle and a yarn lifting member which is adapted for movement between positions below and above the traversing triangle. When the winding of a package is completed, the lifting member is lifted, which in turn lifts the advancing yarn from its traversing triangle, and in addition, the lifting member captures and retains the advancing yarn in a laterally fixed position. Upon the subsequent lowering of the lifting member, the captured yarn is brought into the engagement with the cutting blade and severed. In the lifted position of the lifting member, the advancing yarn also may be lifted from its reciprocating yarn guide so that a plurality of circumferential final winds are formed on the completed package.

  • Patent number: 5341998
Abstract: The invention disclosed here is a pin hub that is to be used in conjunction with interchangeable wire reels for taking individual wire segments from a continuous wire feed. In use, an empty reel is first mounted to the pin hub. The pin hub has a plurality of pins which are arranged in a circular pattern, and are retracted relative to the hub at the time the reel is mounted. After mounting, the pins are extended through corresponding side openings in the reel, and thereby define a winding hub or circle within the reel itself. Instead of being wound directly against sidewall or hub structure of the reel itself, the wire is instead wound about the pins, and they take up the physical stresses associated with the winding process. After winding is completed, the pins are retracted, and the filled reel is thereafter removed from the pin hub.
