  • Patent number: 7076047
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for determining the carrier that should be used for a particular AIN call. The following information is derived for each call: the originating calling party number, the terminating called party number, the originating LATA, the terminating LATA. Using these components, pre-defined tables are accessed that contain local calling plan information. These tables contain rate center and dial plan information that provides the local calling scope that is available to the originator of the call. Based on the information contained in the tables, the appropriate type of carrier for the call is selected and the call is routed using this carrier.

  • Patent number: 7068987
Abstract: A method of controlling operation of a wireless device configured in a zero intermediate frequency architecture including a DC loop and a gain loop. The method includes processing energy in a wireless medium to generate a corresponding receive signal, monitoring the receive signal via a predetermined measurement window, detecting a changed condition in the channel, holding the gain feedback control loop at a constant gain level, and operating the DC loop in an attempt to search a stable DC value for the receive signal while the gain loop is held constant. A first case is DC saturation, where the gain is held constant until DC is controlled. A second case is clear channel assessment, where a prior stored gain setting is applied to the gain loop after detecting the end of the packet. A third case is preparation for receiving an expected acknowledgement packet after transmitting a packet, where again a prior stored gain setting is applied to the gain loop and DC is searched.

  • Patent number: 7065322
Abstract: A wireless communication apparatus with built-in terminal hub for transmitting a wireless signal includes a PCB, built-in antenna module and input terminal hub. The built-in antenna module disposed on the PCB transmits the wireless signal and the input terminal hub coupled with the PCB connects the computer. It avoids bringing the surrounding electromagnetic interference (EMI) and disorder. Besides, the built-in antenna module makes the whole size smaller and easy to carry. The wireless communication apparatus further provides an extended output terminal hub for connecting other peripheral device.

  • Patent number: 7054430
Abstract: A method is described of providing validation data associated with a subscriber line of a telecommunication network using a validation system. The method includes obtaining line data of the subscriber line wherein the line data is suitable for interrogating a line identification database (LIDB). The method interrogates the LIDB with the line data to obtain reference subscriber data associated with the line data, and processes the reference subscriber data to obtain validation data associated with the subscriber line. The method includes identifying a local exchange carrier (LEC) associated with the subscriber line to determine if a billing arrangement exists between the validation system and the LEC. The invention extends to a subscriber line validation system to validate a subscriber line of a communication network.

  • Patent number: 7046778
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and system for providing telecommunications services, such as call waiting, three-way call, and automatic recall, utilizing a plurality of state machines. Logic specifications define a set of states for each state machine. Each state in turn defines at least one action to be performed in response to a signal received by the state machine. The logic specification for each state machine can be stored, for example, in a textual format in a mark up language, such as HTML, XML, or or other markup language. A compiled representation of the logic specification is generated. Further, a context object tracks a current state of the telecommunication service. The context object accesses the compiled representation in response to an event, e.g., a call progress event, in order to effect a state transition and/or perform an action with respect to the telecommunication service.

  • Patent number: 6963638
Abstract: A method for using alphanumeric characters for a call number to establish a phone connection and for internal signaling in and between telecommunication networks. An alternative additional dialing method on an alphanumeric basis by using the complete character set of the ASCII character set with its national embodiments (alphanumeric subscriber call number ATR) with any length of the ATR freely set by the subscriber as an optional alternative that coexists with the current dialing method with a decimal number system (NTR). The ATR is sent from the terminal to the switching center and used preferably to establish a connection or converted to an NTR that is used to establish the connection with the target subscriber. The method may be introduced as an overlay process for the existing dialing method within existing networks.

  • Patent number: 6922468
Abstract: A system and method are provided for using Local Number Portability (LNP) and the public switched telephone network (PSTN) trunks as virtual loop-around trunks. Present invention LNP structures and processes redirect calls to avoid the creation of loop-around trunks from calls generated in the local exchange carrier (LEC) requiring services such as prepaid caller and calling party pays. A virtual trunk switch is created using a Switch Control Point (SCP). Telephone numbers requiring special services are ported and stored in a LNP database. Numbers requiring special services are flagged with a LRN that identifies a special service switch which is either an SSP or an SCP. The LRN initiates communication between the local exchange switch and the special service switch. Once engaged, the special service switch protocols create the trunk links. By monitoring these trunk links, the special service switch is able to monitor the in-band communications, and so provide the special services.

  • Patent number: 6859527
Abstract: An internet-connected service system is provided for facilitating communication across the internet between image-sending and image-receiving systems that have dial-up internet access. The image-sending system, after connecting to the internet, sends a communication request to the service system and the latter is then responsible for waking up the image-receiving system. Upon being woken up, the image-receiving system connects to the internet and contacts the service system. The service system then transfers the current network address of at least one of the systems to the other thereby enabling direct communication to be established between the image-sending and image-receiving systems.

  • Patent number: 6826272
Abstract: Method and apparatus for integrated multimedia call control. A unified way to manage incoming calls is provided for users who have both a public switched telephone network (PSTN) telephone and a computer workstation with a multimedia data communications client such as a client specified in International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Standard H.323. Calls from a PSTN phone in the network can be routed either to the user's PSTN telephone or the audio handling portion of the user's multimedia data communications client software. The audio portion of calls from a multimedia data communication client in the network can be routed either to the user's PSTN telephone or to the audio portion of the user's multimedia data communication client. Users can thus control PSTN and multimedia internet telephony calls in a consistent manner.

  • Patent number: 6816582
Abstract: A Service Control Point (SCP) has a call list associated with the main telephone number of a called party. When a calling party attempts to contact the called party by calling the main number, a Service Switching Point (SSP) or a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) fires a trigger. The trigger causes the SCP to access the call list and to cause the SSP/MSC to simultaneously ring the main (called) telephone number and at least one alternative telephone number associated with the main telephone number. A simultaneous ring service subscriber can remotely access the SCP to modify a call list, to add or delete a call list and to select an active call list. When a subscriber has multiple call lists, the subscriber can set account parameters to automatically select the active call list, based on various call factors, such as call time and calling party.
