Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for planning, executing, reviewing, and reporting the results of an advertising campaign to be run on TV. A demand-side platform receives ad slot opportunities from TV programming sources, and analyzes the ad slots to produce a prioritized list of placement opportunities for the advertising campaign to be presented to advertiser/clients. Each ad slot is analyzed with respect to past viewership data and with respect to desired targeting characteristics that may include conventional age and gender targeting, or additionally strategic targeting characteristics. Scores are established for each ad slot with respect to numbers of projected on-target impressions and/or a cost for projected on-target impressions. The scores are sorted to produce the prioritized list. Projected results can be viewed with respect to any or all of network, day, and daypart. After a campaign has completed, viewership data representing actual results is acquired, processed, and reported.

Abstract: A method of modifying the output of an output device is provided. A first code, associated with a first recipient party, is received and used to generate, within the output device, a second code, the second code containing encoded data identifying the first recipient party and instructions for activating an additional functionality of the output device. The additional functionality is activated in accordance with the instructions contained in the second code. The output of the output device is modified according to data encoded in the second code, to encode a third code in the output of the output device, the third code including an ID code associated with the first recipient party.

Abstract: A personalized channel recommendation method includes recording video programs of a plurality of channels, extracting image features of the recorded video programs of the plurality of channels, and storing the extracted image features of the recorded video programs of the plurality of channels in a feature database. The method also includes obtaining image feature data extracted from a video program being viewed by at least one user of a user device on a current channel, and detecting that the video program being watched by the user is an undesired program and determining a channel number of a channel of the video program being watched based on the image feature data and the feature database. Further, the method includes determining channel recommendation including at least one desired channel to be switched to from the undesired program, and generating an adaptive TV guide for the user to skip the undesired program and to switch to the desired channel.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for delivery of content in a packetized network. In one embodiment, content and/or services can be associated with an IP address. The IP address may be assigned to multiple server devices disposed at geographically diverse locations. Delivery caches may advertise, via a routing protocol, one or more addresses to clients of the network. Route selection may be configured based on one or more rules such as geographical proximity, available bandwidth, server availability, server load, delivery cost, client subscription level, licensing rules, and/or other metric. Delivery caches may be configured to control their availability and/or load through IP address withdrawals and announcements. When the “closest” delivery cache may become unavailable (e.g., it is not announcing the IP address for the content the client is trying to obtain, a route to the next “closest” available delivery cache may be utilized.

Abstract: Provided is a signal processing apparatus, including: a mapping unit configured to map one of an 8K video signal and a 4K video signal into SDI data streams on a plurality of channels, the SDI data streams on the plurality of channels each conforming to a predetermined Serial Digital Interface (SDI) format; and multiplexing units configured to perform one of 8B/10B conversion and scrambling of the SDI data streams on the plurality of channels in units of a predetermined bit, and multiplex the SDI data streams on the plurality of channels subjected to the one of the 8B/10B conversion and the scrambling, to thereby generate serial data streams in a plurality of lanes, the serial data streams in the plurality of lanes each having a bit rate within a range of from 25 Gbps to 28.3 Gbps.

Abstract: Systems and methods for representing video and audio media files as workflows are disclosed. In some cases, the systems and methods combine segments of the media files into larger compilations in the workflows, and using the workflows to individually optimize both the viewing experience for and the advertising presented to viewers based upon the circumstances of each viewer and parameters described with the workflow.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods and storage medium associated with content distribution and consumption are disclosed herein. In embodiments, an apparatus may include a decoder and a presentation engine. The decoder may be configured to receive and decode a primary content. The presentation engine may be configured to process and present decoded primary content. Processing of the decoded primary content may include identification of a feature in a frame of the primary content, and integration of a secondary content with the feature. Presentation of the decoded primary content may include presentation of the decoded primary content with the secondary content integrated with the feature of the frame. Abstract: An alternative content system receives a primary content data stream and a secondary content data stream associated with an event. The alternative content system provides an alternative content data stream associated with the event. The alternative content system extracts a primary content identifier from the primary content data stream. The alternative content system identifies an alternative content identifier based on the alternative content data stream. The alternative content system synchronizes the alternative content data stream to the primary content data stream based on the alternative content identifier and the primary content identifier. The alternative content system transmits the synchronized alternative content data stream based on the primary content identifier.

Abstract: A network device may receive a signal from a headend, wherein a bandwidth of the received signal spans from a low frequency to a high frequency and encompasses a plurality of sub-bands. The network device may determine, based on communication with the headend, whether one of more of the sub-bands residing above a threshold frequency are available for carrying downstream data from the headend to the circuitry. The network device may digitize the signal using an ADC operating at a sampling frequency. The sampling frequency may be configured based on a result of the determining. When the sub-band(s) are available for carrying downstream data from the headend to the network device, the sampling frequency may be set to a relatively high frequency. When the sub-band(s) are not available for carrying downstream data from the headend to the network device, the sampling frequency may be set to a relatively low frequency.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a command to provide media content configured to be sent to a display device for display at a particular scan rate. The media content includes audio data and video data. The method includes identifying high priority segments of the media content based on the audio data. The high priority segments are to be displayed by the display device at a presentation rate such that the high priority segments displayed at the presentation rate correspond to the media content displayed at the particular scan rate. The method also includes sending the high priority segments to the display device to provide video content and audio content of the requested media content for display.

Abstract: Methods and systems for linking a service provider account with patient care information are disclosed. A patient's account information is received. A service account for the patient is identified, and an association between a patient's care record and the service account is stored. Care information for the patient is received and transmitted to a device associated with the patient's service account.

Abstract: Objects in a video are identified, and linked to ecommerce sites and advertisements. A user may select an object and be provided with information about the object. A video stream may be encoded with a separate metadata stream that contains the identity of each object on each frame of the video. The metadata channel may be extracted from a video stream and displayed to a user when the user clicks on the corresponding object. A device may take a video input, analyze it, and recognize the video. The device may look up said video in a database of tagged videos, output as an overlay or separate window to a video display device stream with information about the item. A user interface device may allow a user to select objects on a video screen and select and choose said object for integration with the other components of the system.

Abstract: A comment information generation device includes: a video input section, to which a video is input; an information input section, to which positional information is input to display a comment to track an object in the video; an initial trajectory acquisition section that acquires an initial trajectory that is a trajectory of the object corresponding to the positional information; a trajectory extending section that acquires an extended trajectory by acquiring a following trajectory that is a trajectory having a starting point after an ending point of the initial trajectory, collecting a first comment assigned in a vicinity of the initial trajectory and a second comment assigned in a vicinity of the following trajectory, and connecting the following trajectory to the initial trajectory on a basis of the first comment and the second comment; and an output section that outputs the extended trajectory as comment information.

Abstract: A service gateway provides a proxy between a client protocol and a plurality of standard communication protocols. The service gateway provides asymmetrical routing, data compression and encryption to optimize client processing power and communication link bandwidth. The service gateway enables content translation between clients and service providers. The service gateway keeps track of client available memory and sequence numbers in messages to generate error codes when applicable. A store and forward message capability is provided along with abstract session identifiers. The service gateway supports user datagram protocol.

Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed that relate to providing digital content recommendations based upon environmental sensor data. For example, one embodiment provides a computing device configured to receive sensor data from a sensor system, to detect a user present in the use environment via the sensor data, identify the user, recognize a current state of each of one or more use environment state features associated with the user via the sensor data, and store the current state of each of the one or more use environment state features. The computing device is further configured to detect a triggering condition for a selected use environment state feature, and in response provide information related to the selected use environment state feature based upon one or more of the current state of the use selected use environment state feature and a previously-stored state of the selected use environment state feature.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for electronic program guide (EPG) sorting and automatic realignment is provided. In example embodiments, a graphical user interface having an EPG including a plurality of rows of thumbnails representing programs is presented on a device of a user. Each row of thumbnails may be navigated independent of other rows. A navigational input is received via a touchscreen of the device. The navigational input indicates an action performed on the graphical user interface that triggers a realignment of programming information presented on the EPG. An updated EPG with the realignment of the programming information indicated by the navigational input is then provided.

Abstract: A rapid authorization system (22) for subscriber programming authorization with high levels of security can include entitlement management messages (23) that direct fluctuation of an existing package with a communication structure that may involve a primary service directive indicator (3) that is altered, transformed, or fluctuated by a secondary service directive indicator (4) or more. Terse, high entropy directives and entitlement management messages can be transmitted and a multi-channel broadcast programming fluctuation processor (9) at a multichannel broadcast receiver (8) can act to achieve the proper authorization. A conditional access system can be provided through existing, even one-way or SSL, communication pathways with high levels of security. Large subscriber base a la carte options can be provided with rapid authorization that may include nonce programming collective storage (26) for use with a fluctuation entitlement management message transmission.

Abstract: Systems and methods for using an interactive television program guide application to access fantasy sports contests are presented. In some embodiments of the present invention, the interactive television program guide application may display information indicating to a user that one or more programs is related to a fantasy sports contest. In some embodiments of the present invention, the application may provide to the user a schedule of programs related to one or more fantasy sports contests in which the user participates. The application may provide additional features to fantasy sports contestants including automatic recording of programs related to a user's fantasy sports contest, playback of highlight video clips for events that affect a user's fantasy sports contest standing, and targeted advertisements for fantasy sports contests.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for creating a new video stream having an electronic pointer rendered therein. The disclosed system includes a receiver that continuously receives position data from a wireless pointing device; a calibration unit that calculates positions for the electronic pointer relative to a viewing device based on the position data received from the wireless pointing device; a processor that renders the electronic pointer in an original video feed received from a video source to create the new video stream as a single data stream, such that the electronic pointer is positioned at locations in the new video stream that correspond to the calculated positions for the electronic pointer; and a server that transmits the new video stream to the wireless pointing device to be rendered on a screen of the wireless pointing device.
