  • Patent number: 4875845
Abstract: An injection nozzle for an injection molding machine having a heating device for heating its injection nozzle body (3) protruding from the front end of the heating cylinder (1) thereof. The heating device is composed of a plurality of heating members (7, 10) longitudinally arranged side by side. The temperatures of the different nozzle body sections heated by the respective heating members are individually detected (9, 11), the heating members (7, 10) being individually controlled in accordance with the temperatures thus detected. The construction enables the different nozzle body sections to be individually set to a desired, optimum temperature. The nozzle front end section 3b, for example, which is in contact with a metallic mold and whose temperature is consequently apt to be lowered can be kept high, and the nozzle middle-rear section 3a, which is near the heating cylinder and whose temperature is consequently apt to be raised, can be kept low.

  • Patent number: 4875847
Abstract: A twin screw extruder which significantly reduces extruder wear through provision of separate, complemental, interfitted frustoconical screw and barrel sections adjacent the outlet end of the extruder barrel which create an even, bearing-type support for the rotating screws as material passes through the apparatus. In preferred forms, the screws are intermeshed along the majority of the extruder barrel, but diverge at the region of the final frustoconical screw sections and are received within respective complemental barrel sections; in this fashion the material being processed is split into juxtaposed, non-communicating streams, and thereby evenly flows around and supports the adjacent screw section to lessen the tendency of the screws to separate themselves and come into wearing contact with the surrounding barrel walls. The extruder can be used to process a wide variety of plant-derived materials, but is particularly useful for viscous substances (e.g.

  • Patent number: 4867665
Abstract: A plastic material molding apparatus, wherein when the pressure at a material inlet of a cylinder of a material holding mechanism increases as a piston in the cylinder compresses a resilient member provided in the material holding mechanism, the speed of a motor for driving a material fluidizing mechanism is reduced. • Patent number: 4865536
Abstract: There is provided a direct mold clamping apparatus with an ejector, which is capable of uniformly applying a mold clamping force to a movable platen and is simple in construction and compact in size. A hollow cylindrical push member (12) and a movable platen (3) are coupled to each other through a single junction plane, in the form of an annular ring. A driving force transmitted through the push member is applied uniformly to the movable platen. The ejector (1) of the mold clamping apparatus (2) is provided with a ball nut (7) disposed in a hollow portion of the push member. A ball screw (6), which mates with the nut, is coaxial with a ball screw (8) for mold clamping, and has a front end fixed to an ejector pin (4) and the rear end portion removably fitted in a hole (8a) in a front end portion of the mold clamping ball screw. Thus, the axial length of the mold clamping apparatus is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4865535
Abstract: This invention relates to an injection molding nozzle having an improved heating element configuration in the tapered nose portion and a method of making it. A longitudinal portion of the heating element which is integrally brazed centrally into the nose portion is bent back upon itself at least once to provide a multiple thickness part. The type and length of the multiple thickness part which is selected to provide additional heat depends upon the application which the nozzle is to be used for. The multiple thickness part of the heating element is swaged to provide a more circular cross-section before being brazed into a larger diameter part of the heating element bore through the nose portion of the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4865534
Abstract: An injection molding machine has an injection molding unit shiftable parallel to itself into a selected working position, dependent upon the location of the injection opening of the mold closing unit. The latter includes a stationary mold carrier having parts defining guide grooves oriented transversely to the injection axis. The injection molding unit has hydraulic power cylinders arranged symmetrically to the injection axis. Each hydraulic power cylinder has a piston rod on which the injection molding unit is supported. Each piston rod has a coupling terminus received in a respective guide groove for guiding the respective piston rod therein during motion of the injection molding unit between working positions. The coupling terminus of each piston rod is prevented by the respective guide groove from moving in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the respective piston rod, whereby the piston rods are axially immobilized.

  • Patent number: 4861254
Abstract: A cassette-type molding die comprises a die plate unit having fitting bores and a cassette die unit including movable and stationary cassette plates between which a molding cavity is defined, an ejector cassette plate, and ejector pins disposed between the movable cassette plate and the ejector cassette plate. The cassette die unit can be detachably inserted into the fitting bores of the die plate unit. As a result, the cassette die unit can be easily exchanged with another cassette die unit while the movable and stationary die plates of the die plate unit are very close together. This speeds up the process of changing cassette die units, and also allows for the overall cassette-type molding die to be smaller than conventional units.
