  • Patent number: 9936339
Abstract: Systems and methods according to aspects of the invention verify requests for information over a network. Computing devices communicating over a network transmit numerous signals with various types of information including spatial information, temporal information, device-specific information, and transmission specific information. This information may be used to generate statistical records of valid request for information. Various combinations of these signals may be used to determine whether a request for information is a valid request based on the statistical records associated with the signals. Where a request for information has been verified, the system and method may provide the information. Where the request for information has not been verified, the system and method may deny the request for information. Thus the system and method may be used to prevent and block scraping and spamming attacks.

  • Patent number: 9549011
Abstract: An audiovisual signal is converted from a native format to a digital, packetized interchange format and transported between a capture node and a display node through a switch. The display node converts the audiovisual signal from the interchange format to a displayable format and causes display of the audiovisual signal. The use of a switch for video routing and distribution allows one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one, and many-to-many distribution. The use of a device-independent interchange format allows concurrent distribution of multiple heterogeneous audiovisual signals.

  • Patent number: 9131117
Abstract: A method provides for the optimal location of servers and the optimal assignment of programs to the servers in a video-on-demand (VOD) network with a tree topology. Each node may have demands for multiple VOD programs. The central server at the root of the network stores all programs, and each of the other servers may store some of these programs. The cost considered include cost of servers, cost of assigning programs to servers, and cost of link bandwidths used for broadcasting programs from servers to demands at various nodes. The demand for a specific program is served by the closest server that has this program along the path that connects the requesting node to the root of the tree network. The invention consists of a dynamic programming method that determines optimal server locations and optimal program assignments for minimizing the costs.

  • Patent number: 9088737
Abstract: A method for visualizing surroundings of a vehicle, especially in the dark is provided. A visual image, containing the digital data of the surroundings shows the visually perceptible objects. An infrared image, containing the digital data of the surroundings, shows the infrared radiation, emitted by the visually perceptible and/or other objects. An image fusion takes place that fuses the visual image and the infrared image into a target image, which can be represented in an image display unit, in order to simplify the allocation of the infrared radiation-emitting objects in the recorded environment. The image fusion is interrupted as a function of one environment parameter in order to represent only one of the two images, or none of the images, as the target image.

  • Patent number: 8228381
Abstract: A video and data capturing system and method includes a mobile unit having an image sensor and motion sensing equipment connected to a microprocessor. The mobile unit is installed in an object for detecting visual images and motion data associated with the object. The mobile unit communicates with a base unit capable of analyzing the image and motion data and correcting the image data so it is level with the horizon. A foot unit may be used in conjunction with the mobile unit for detection of an athlete's foot acceleration for determining when the athlete's foot comes in contact with the ground. A field unit may be used in conjunction with the mobile unit and foot unit to determine the location of the foot unit on a playing surface to assist in determining whether an athlete is in or out of bounds, or their location on the playing surface.

  • Patent number: 8073959
Abstract: Automatically detecting whether a local network that a computer is connected to is a public or private network by utilizing a trusted online service and/or heuristics is disclosed. Data produced as a result of performing one heuristic(s) in combination with data received from a trusted online service can be utilized to determine a level of confidence as to a type of network to which a client computer is connected. If the determined level of confidence exceeds a first level, the local network type for the client computer can automatically be set. If the determined level of confidence is less than the first level, but greater than a second level, a user can be prompted to classify the local network type with the determined local network type set as a default value. Techniques are also described for detecting whether or not two computers are connected to the same local area network.

  • Patent number: 8072487
Abstract: The present invention realizes picture recording in simple configuration such that a user can easily and intuitively identify a minified picture of a multi-view picture from among minified pictures of pictures being taken. A 3-dimensional thumbnail picture is created by performing 3-dimensional CG processing on a multi-view picture thumbnail picture, and a thumbnail picture is created from a normal picture and recorded in association with a primary picture. The 3-dimensional CG thumbnail picture X is given a stereoscopic effect as a result of the 3-dimensional CG graphic processing so that the difference from a normal 2-dimensional thumbnail Y is clear at a glance. Consequently, a viewer can readily recognize the picture X as a minified picture of a multi-view picture without using a special apparatus to realize a graphical approach.

  • Patent number: 8065401
Abstract: Methods and structures for assuring proper sequencing of processing of SAS frames received over multiple physical ports of a SAS wide port. A frame scheduler element is communicatively coupled with a SAS transport layer and with a corresponding plurality of link layers operable as a SAS wide port. The frame scheduler receives a request from the transport layer to locate or select a next received frame for further processing. The frame scheduler interacts with the plurality of link layer processing elements having received frames stored within to locate the link layer that has the requested next frame. The frame scheduler then coordinates operation of that link layer and the transport layer to effectuate the transfer of the required next frame.

  • Patent number: 8055776
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product which allows a user to view and navigate reduced-content web pages on a wireless connection. Upon the user's selection of specific web pages, the pages are then delivered to the user by a less expensive connection, as in a conventional wired internet connection. The delivery is accomplished by several methods, according to different embodiments, including by an electronic mail message, by “push” delivery to an internet-connected data processing system, and by providing a set of hyperlinks to the wired internet connection which reference the selected pages, among other methods. The user is thereby able to view, on a second internet-connected data processing system, the data selected when using the wireless internet-connected data processing system.

  • Patent number: 8046465
Abstract: A method and system for distributing flows between a multiple processors. The flows can be received from an external source such as a network, by a front-end processor that recognizes the flow and the associated request, and identifies at least one internal applications processor to process the request/flow. The front-end processor utilizes a flow scheduling vector related to the identified applications processor(s), and the flow scheduling vector can be based on intrinsic data from the applications processor(s) that can include CPU utilization, memory utilization, packet loss, and queue length or buffer occupation. In some embodiments, applications processors can be understood to belong to a group, wherein applications processors within a group can be configured identically. A flow schedule vector can be computed for the different applications processor groups.
