  • Patent number: 11636915
Abstract: A memory component and a controller communicate commands and data with each other The commands to activate and then access data, and the data itself, are all communicated between a controller and the memory component at different times. The controller and memory component each calculate a respective error detecting code (EDC) values on the activate command information (e.g., bank address and row address) and store them indexed by the bank address. When the memory component is accessed, retrieved EDC values are combined with EDC values calculated from the access command information, and the data itself. The memory component transmits its combined EDC value to the controller for checking.

  • Patent number: 11626181
Abstract: A semiconductor memory device includes a memory cell array, an error correction code (ECC) circuit, a fault address register, a scrubbing control circuit and a control logic circuit. The memory cell array includes memory cell rows. The scrubbing control circuit generates scrubbing addresses based on refresh operations performed on the memory cell array. The control logic circuit controls the ECC circuit such that the ECC circuit performs an error detection operation on a plurality of sub-pages in a first memory cell row to count a number of error occurrences, and determines whether to correct a codeword in which an error is detected based on the number of error occurrences. An uncorrected or corrected codeword is written back, and a row address of the first memory cell row may be stored in the fault address register as a row fault address based on the number of error occurrences.

  • Patent number: 11626183
Abstract: A storage system has a memory with a multi-level cell (MLC) block and a partially-bad single-level cell (SLC) block. The storage system repurposes the partially-bad SLC block as a non-volatile read cache for data stored in the MLC block (e.g., cold data that is read relatively frequently) to improve performance of host reads. Because the original version of the data is still stored in the MLC block, the original version of the data can be read if there is an error in the copy of the data stored in the partially-bad SLC block, thus avoiding the need for extensive error-correction handling to account for the poor reliability of the partially-bad SLC block.

Abstract: A system include multiple memory dice and a processing device coupled to the multiple memory dice. The processing device is to perform operations, including: reading temperature values from registers at multiple memory dice, wherein each temperature value is associated with a temperature at a respective die of the multiple memory dice; reading error-correcting code (ECC)-protected data from the multiple memory dice; determining whether an ECC check of the ECC-protected data results in detecting an error; in response to detecting the error from the ECC-protected data for a die of the multiple memory dice, performing a confirmation check that the error is a result of a defect in the die; and in response to the confirmation check confirming the die is defective, ignoring a temperature value from the die when determining whether to trigger a thermal-related operation.

  • Patent number: 11615827
Abstract: Examples described herein relate to a decision tree computation system in which a hardware accelerator for a decision tree is implemented in the form of an analog Content Addressable Memory (a-CAM) array. The hardware accelerator accesses a decision tree. The decision tree comprises of multiple paths and each path of the multiple paths includes a set of nodes. Each node of the decision tree is associated with a feature variable of multiple feature variables of the decision tree. The hardware accelerator combines multiple nodes among the set of nodes with a same feature variable into a combined single node. Wildcard values are replaced for feature variables not being evaluated in each path. Each combined single node associated with each feature variable is mapped to a corresponding column in the a-CAM array and the multiple paths of the decision tree to rows of the a-CAM array.
