Abstract: A heuristic money laundering detection engine includes capabilities to collect an unstructured data set, such as a transaction record, and detect indications of money laundering activity. By detecting money laundering activity and feeding back indications of money laundering transactions, the heuristic algorithm may continue to learn and improve detection accuracy. Such indications may include correlations to sets of transaction activity among a number of financial accounts and past indications of money laundering activity. Indications of money laundering may allow generation of audit reports for reporting to regulatory authorities.

Abstract: Methods and corresponding system are provided herewith that, in at least one embodiment, include the act or acts of: receiving a request to reserve a service that is provided by a restaurant. The request to reserve is for a particular time and a particular date and the service comprises at least one of: (i) preparing a consumable good that is consumed at the restaurant's location; (ii) preparing a consumable good that is received at the restaurant's location; or (iii) preparing a consumable good that is delivered to a location external to the restaurant's location. The methods and system also include comparing the particular time requested with a schedule associated with the restaurant. The schedule comprises a list of times that are available for reservation. The methods and system also include determining an availability of the request to reserve; and outputting an indicia that the request to reserve the service has been accepted or denied.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing personalized delivery services by a carrier providing a package delivery service. For example, a consignee may indicate a delivery preference to be applied to delivery of a package, such as indicating a specific location where the package is to be left upon delivery, if the consignee is not present to accept the package. In one embodiment, the consignee may be notified by the carrier of the scheduled delivery of the package, and may be linked to the carrier's web site to indicate a delivery preference. Alternatively, the delivery preference may be indicated by the consignee proactively accessing the web site. After conveying a delivery preference, the carrier's systems communicate the delivery preference at the appropriate time to a portable computing device which informs the delivery personnel of the consignee's delivery preference. Other embodiments allow the consignor to indicate delivery preferences.

Abstract: The MedicSMART system can be a replenishment system for personal medical kits. The personal medical kit can house an inventory of personal use medical supplies within a container that is in a location personally associated with a user. Each medical supply can have a radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag affixed thereon. The payment artifact can be used for the user's electronic transactions. The MedicSMART system can be configured to automatically replenish the inventory of the personal medical kit using a client device, supply thresholds, supplier data, and a server. The client device can be installed within the container to collect data from the RFID tags. The supply thresholds can define minimum values for the medical supplies. The supplier data can define suppliers for purchasing the medical supplies. The server can be configured to automatically order medical supplies to maintain the personal medical kit in an acceptable state.

Abstract: The present application discloses methods to reliably verify pick locations in a warehouse, with minimal or no interaction by the user. Once verified, the user can proceed to pick-up a product or deliver a product to the pick location. In one embodiment, the user may wear binocular augmented reality headset. The headset renders a hologram that is viewed by the user. Aided by the hologram and depth sensing capabilities of the headset that confirms a pick location without any user interaction, the user may be able to reliably verify pick locations and select the correct product. In another embodiment, the user may wear haptic feedback gloves. The gloves comprise force sensors, actuators and a wireless interface. The forces sensors may determine whether the user is holding the product and a location system may determine whether the user is in proximity to the correct pick location.

Abstract: An article dispensing machine capable of performing an inventory audit of a portion of the inventory and automatically pausing the inventory audit in response to a customer transaction request and method for performing the same are shown. After completing the customer request, the article dispensing machine resumes the inventory auditing process. The article dispensing machine thereby remains available for customer use during the inventory auditing process.

Abstract: A ticketing method for issuing a service ticket of a transport system to a passenger comprises: checking-in the passenger via a mobile device of the passenger upon accessing a vehicle of the transport system; checking-out the passenger via the mobile device upon exiting a vehicle of the transport system; and a server computer automatically calculating a price for a travel of the passenger within the transport system by evaluating check-in data representing the checking-in of the passenger and check-out data representing the checking-out of the passenger.

Embodiments of the invention have been particularly developed for allowing a user to gain access to an access controlled resource (for example a hotel room or the like) via a mobile device. This preferably occurs in the context of an arrangement where access rights are provided in real time upon completion of a booking. For example, some embodiments operate in the context of a mobile app and associated supporting infrastructure thereby to provide functionality to (i) find an available suitable resource; (ii) book that resource; (iii) provide payment; and (iv) gain access via the same mobile device. In some embodiments the technology leverages third party platforms for (i) to (iii), and provides (iv) based on output from processes at the third party platform(s).

Abstract: Resource-validation-based event scheduling in a social network. A method identifies, based on activity in a social network, planning of an event. The method determines event parameters of the event, for instance by determining an anticipated number of attendees of the event, and profiling predicted attendees of the event to identify attendee preferences. The method solicits resource validation information from device(s) corresponding to resource(s) at a location for the event. The resource validation information indicates ability of the device(s) to support estimated resource consumption for each of the resource(s), the estimated resource consumption based on the determined event parameters. The method receives the resource validation information, and schedules the event based on the resource validation information.

Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method for processing payment transactions that are conducted using a mobile device that includes a contactless element, such as an integrated circuit chip. The invention enables the updating, correction or synchronization of transaction data maintained by an Issuer with that stored on the device. This is accomplished by using a wireless (cellular) network as a data communication channel for data provided by an Issuer to the mobile device, and is particularly advantageous in circumstances in which the contactless element is not presently capable of communication with a device reader or point of sale terminal that uses a near field communications mechanism. Data transferred between the mobile device and Issuer may be encrypted and decrypted to provide additional security and protect the data from being accessed by other users or applications.

A registration unit generates a code for each user using the location information and electronic mail address according to a predetermined rule. An invoice information storage unit stores invoice information including the electronic mail address of a first user included in the user information. When receiving an access request for accessing invoice information from a second user whose user information is stored in the user information storage unit, the registration unit determines whether the first code of the first user matches the second code of the second user, and if the first and second codes match, grants the second user access rights to access invoice information generated by the first user and stored in the invoice information storage unit.

Abstract: Systems and methods which allow for a money transfer transaction to be funded without providing payment at the point in time when the transaction is originated and which also do not require a customer to undertake a separate transaction with a separate entity prior to initiating the money transfer transaction with a money transfer service are provided. Embodiments may therefore allow for money transfers, such as in emergency situations, when customers would not otherwise have payment readily available at the time of the transaction.

Abstract: In an example implementation of the disclosed technology, a system is provided by which a utility company customer can make a payment to the utility company via a point of sale (POS) system at a retailer such as a grocery store or clothing store. In some embodiments, the utility company provides to the user a barcode that includes information relating to the customer's account, and the customer can present the barcode to the POS system or a retail agent in the course of checking out at the retailer. Accordingly, the customer can pay a utility bill in the course of paying for, for example, groceries.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to techniques and systems to enable customers to make secure electronic payments to entities (e.g., merchants, vending machines, etc.). The entities may be at brick-and-mortar locations or other locations where the entities are “offline” and may not readily receive payments from customers that have payment accounts stored and managed by a host. In various embodiments, a customer may direct the host to transfer a payment to a merchant after the customer and merchant exchange a code that includes a payment instruction. The code may be used in place of usernames, passwords, or other personal information and may be difficult for others (e.g., bystanders, etc.) to intercept. After the exchange of the code, the customer may authorize the host to a transfer payment to the merchant based on the payment instruction.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for changing a financial account after initiating a payment using a proxy object, such as a proxy card, are disclosed. The proxy card is associated with multiple financial accounts, such as accounts associated with credit cards, debit cards, and pre-paid gift cards. A consumer presents the proxy card to a merchant to make a payment, and the merchant swipes the proxy card and processes the payment by sending transaction information to a financial system. A computer system associated with the financial system selects a payment account associated with the proxy card to use for the payment, and an authorization for the transaction is obtained. Later, the consumer is given a limited time within which he may change the financial account used for the payment, such as by using his mobile device to select a different account associated with the proxy card to use to obtain funds for the payment.

Abstract: Distribution of electronic documents is described, including receiving an electronic document to be distributed, identifying whether a destination identifier is associated with a destination account among a known group of customer accounts, routing the electronic document, and calculating a fee associated with delivery of the electronic document based on whether the destination account is among the known group of customers and a set of billing rules. The set of billing rules may specify a discounted fee for routing an electronic document to each of a known group of customer accounts. In other aspects, the set of billing rules may specify a discounted fee for routing an electronic document to a first group of the known group of customer accounts and specify a standard fee for a second group of the known group of customer accounts.
