  • Publication number: 20070078731
Abstract: A method, server, system and computer program product for providing one or more content files to a user terminal are provided, wherein the credit balance of a user associated with the user terminal is consulted prior to commencing the transmission of the content files. Where it is determined that the user's credit balance is insufficient to cover the content file requested, at least part of the content file may be modified so as to reduce its size prior to transmission. If it is determined that the content file cannot be sufficiently modified to compensate for the user's credit deficit, a message may be sent notifying the user that he or she does not have sufficient credit for the content file requested.

  • Patent number: 7158801
Abstract: A system, methods, an area register and a service center for transmitting point-to-multipoint services to a geographical destination area that can be indicated by using a logical name. Logical names must be mapped to distribution addresses. The system therefor comprises memory means (AR) for mapping each predetermined logical name (71) to one or more network element addresses (72,73) of the system. In addition, the system comprises one or more service centers which are arranged to inquire, in response to a received service request, the memory means (AR) for the addresses (72, 73) of the network elements corresponding to the logical name (71) of the destination area and to transmit the point-to-multipoint service to the geographical destination area via the network elements. The service is transmitted to cells in conventional manner via network nodes, while a service request is transmitted to other service centers.

  • Publication number: 20060223503
Abstract: A method and system for transmitting data to a device is described. The method includes steps of comparing, in a server, a list of capabilities of the server against a list of capabilities of a mobile terminal and creating a list of capabilities in the server and not in the mobile terminal. The method and system wirelessly transmit, to the mobile terminal, a request to confirm the capabilities of the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal receives the request and the list of capabilities and compares the list of capabilities to current capabilities of the mobile terminal and then wirelessly transmits data identifying its capabilities to the server, the data including information of new capabilities of the mobile terminal. The server then updates the list of capabilities of the mobile terminal based on the information of new capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20060135127
Abstract: A system is provided for forwarding content. The system includes a terminal capable of sending a request to transfer content, the request being sent from a terminal over a first network such as a wireless or other high latency network, and over a second network such as a wireline or other low latency network. The system also includes a source capable of sending the content, and a destination capable of receiving the content, both over the second network independent of the first network to thereby transfer the content from the source to the destination. By transferring content independent of the first network, the system can transfer content without the latency that follows from transferring content over such a wireless or other high latency network. Digital rights management of content transferred from a source to a destination is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6980801
Abstract: In an access network which supports macro mobility management, an access node checks during an attach procedure of a mobile station whether the mobile has macro mobility capability, i.e., whether there is a potential need for a macro mobility services. If there is no macro mobility capability, a normal attach procedure is preformed. However, if there is macro mobility capability, the access node selects a suitable mobility entity to the mobile station, sends the identity of the selected mobility entity to the mobile station and requests the initiation of a packet protocol context activation in the system.

  • Publication number: 20050209927
Abstract: A system for uploading content includes a sender capable of sending an upload request, where the upload request comprises a request to upload content from the sender to a recipient. The system also includes a network entity, such as the recipient, capable of operating an upload agent. The upload agent, in turn, is capable of receiving the upload request, and thereafter determining an upload schedule relating to the time and/or manner of uploading the content. The sender can then be capable of uploading the content to the recipient in accordance with the upload schedule. The network entity can be further capable of recovering an upload session that has encountered an interruption.

  • Patent number: 6920317
Abstract: A mobility support element (MSC/VLR; SGSN, GGSN) for a cellular radio network supporting circuit-switched and packet-switched connections to/from a mobile station (MS). For each mobile station (MS), there is a set (LSA1, LSA2) of special cells (C1-C3, C9, C10) providing special service. A radio control element (BSC1, BSC2) determines whether the mobile station (MS) is in a special cell. Charging elements (CG, BC) receive charging information comprising detail items which indicate events which affect charging. The mobility support element (MSC/VLR; SGSN, GGSN) receives, when it begins to serve the mobile station, a list (LSA1, LSA2) of the special cells for the mobile station, and sends the list to the serving radio control element (BSC1, BSC2). The mobility support element also supports or performs classification of the detail items into two classes depending on whether or not the corresponding event occurred while the mobile station was in a special cell.
