  • Patent number: 4136103
Abstract: Novel layer type clay-like tetraalkyl phosphonium aluminosilicates can be produced by the ion exchange reaction of metal aluminosilicates with phosphonium salts. For example, layered type tetraalkyl phosphonium derivatives of clays are prepared by the reaction of sodium clays with tetraalkyl phosphonium chlorides. Substituted tetraalkyl phosphonium clays such as phosphino-, amino-, cyano- and hydroxy-alkyl derivatives are similarly synthesized. The novel compositions have unexpected microstructure, thermal stability, and thixotropic properties in organic liquids.

  • Patent number: 4115482
Abstract: Vinylic thiophosphorus acid esters of either cis- or trans-configuration can be synthesized in a stereospecific reaction of a cis- and a trans-vinylic metal compound with diorgano phosphoryl disulfide and a diorgano phosphoryl sulfenyl halide, respectively, and the product can be isomerized to the thermodynamically more stable mixture of isomers by free radical and ionic catalysts. • Patent number: 4112024
Abstract: Phosphorylsulfenyl halides are added to monoolefins, multiolefins, conjugated multiolefins and acetylenic compounds. 1,2-Markownikov oriented adducts are the principle products when conjugated diolefins are employed as the starting feedstock. Anti-Markownikov adducts are obtained as major products when unsymmetrical monoolefins and nonconjugated multiolefins are used as the starting material. The addition reactions are conducted at low temperatures. The materials which are obtained are of interest as pesticides and as intermediates in the synthesis of pesticides.

  • Patent number: 4101557
Abstract: Haloalkanethiols are synthesized through the free radical liquid phase reaction of halogenated olefins with an excess of hydrogen sulfide. High product yields to the desired haloalkanethiol products are secured when a 3 to 20 fold molar excess of hydrogen sulfide to halogenated olefin is used. Desirably, the synthesis is carried out to a conversion level not exceeding 90%. The haloalkanethiol products can be subsequently dehydrohalogenated to the corresponding episulfide products by reacting the haloalkanethiol product with a substantially equal molar amount of anhydrous ammonia.
