  • Patent number: 9106382
Abstract: A wireless access node to facilitate communication quality adjustments during voice over long term evolution (VoLTE) communication sessions comprises a wireless communication transceiver and a processing system. The wireless communication transceiver is configured to exchange VoLTE packets with a wireless communication device during a VoLTE emergency call with a public safety answering point (PSAP), and receive a scheduling request transmitted from the PSAP, wherein the scheduling request includes an identifier associated with the wireless communication device and specifies hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) settings for the VoLTE emergency call. The processing system is configured to, responsive to the scheduling request, issue a scheduling grant to the wireless communication device based on the HARQ settings specified in the scheduling request.

  • Patent number: 9106519
Abstract: A wireless communication network estimates User Equipment (UE) Quality of Service (QoS). The wireless communication network processes a signal strength metric measured by the UE to select an RF coverage module. The wireless communication network process the selected RF coverage module to determine an RF coverage score. The RF coverage score represents the amount of overlapping RF coverage. The wireless communication network processes the RF coverage score to select an application module. The wireless communication network processes the application module to identify a service module. The wireless communication network processes the service module based on RF parameters measured by the UE to estimate a QoS for the UE. The wireless communication network transfers the estimated QoS to the UE.

  • Patent number: 9055499
Abstract: A communication control system controls communication over a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network and a non-LTE network. The communication control system receives a communication session request transferred from a wireless communication device over the non-LTE network. In response, the communication control system initiates a voice communication session between the wireless communication device and a first communication interface. The communication control system requests an LTE registration notification for the wireless communication device. After the wireless communication device registers with the LTE network, the communication control system receives the LTE registration notification. In response, the communication control system initiates a media communication session over the LTE network between the wireless communication device and a second communication interface.

  • Patent number: 8781439
Abstract: A system and method for communicating geographic coordinates with an emergency data message to a public safety answering point (PSAP) may include receiving a request from a user to send an emergency data message to a PSAP and determining whether geographic coordinates are locally available. If geographic coordinates are locally available, then the locally available geographic coordinates may be obtained and included with an emergency data message. Otherwise, if the geographic coordinates are not locally available, then a request for geographic coordinates from a network node on a communications network may be made and received from the communications network for inclusion with the emergency data message. The emergency data message may be communicated to a network node on the communications network for routing to the PSAP.
