  • Publication number: 20100004035
Abstract: A system and method for powering-up a wireless communications device may include (i) powering-up the wireless communications device using a standard power-up sequence in response to a request for a standard power-up sequence by a user, and (ii) powering-up the wireless communications device using an abbreviated power-up sequence in response to a request for an emergency message to be communicated by the user.

  • Publication number: 20090310761
Abstract: Embodiments of a system and method for providing a personalized greeting to a caller include receiving an incoming call by a first communication device from caller using a second communication device. The first communication device is located at a customer premise location. The method further includes entering an off-hook mode by the first communication device and determining a caller identity associated with the second communication device. The method still further includes determining if the caller identity matches a pre-assigned caller identifier from a pre-assigned caller list, and playing an outgoing message associated with the pre-assigned caller identifier if the caller identity matches the pre-assigned caller identifier from the pre-assigned caller list.

  • Publication number: 20090300153
Abstract: An embodiment of a method, system and apparatus for prioritizing network datagram traffic includes receiving a datagram packet from a sender device. The datagram packet is addressed to a receiver device and includes a real-time data payload. The method further includes identifying the datagram packet in a network layer using deep packet inspection to determine at least one of an application or protocol associated with the datagram packet. The method still further includes generating traffic priority information associated with the datagram packet based upon identifying the datagram packet. The traffic priority information indicates traffic prioritization between the sender device and the receiver device. Various embodiments further include controlling the sending of the datagram packet to the receiver device based upon the traffic priority information. Some embodiments further include prioritizing traffic between the sender device and the receiver device in accordance with the traffic priority information.

  • Publication number: 20090238071
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus for prioritizing network traffic according to one embodiment includes receiving a packet addressed to a receiver device from a sender device, and identifying the packet in a network layer to determine an application and/or protocol associated with the packet. The method further includes generating traffic priority information associated with the packet based upon the identifying. The traffic priority information indicates traffic prioritization between the sender device and the receiver device. The method further includes sending the traffic priority information to a network controller. In various embodiments, the packet is identified in the network layer using deep packet inspection.

  • Publication number: 20090225655
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus for prioritizing network traffic according to one embodiment includes receiving a packet addressed to a receiver device from a sender device, identifying the packet at a network layer to determine an application and/or protocol associated with the packet, and generating traffic priority information associated with the packet based upon the identification. In at least one embodiment, the traffic priority information indicates traffic prioritization between the sender device and the receiver device. The method further includes forwarding the packet to the receiver device, receiving an acknowledgment packet from the receiving device, and inserting the traffic priority information into the acknowledgment packet at a transport layer. In at least one embodiment, the acknowledgment packet is forwarded to the sender device. In various embodiments, the packet is identified at the network layer using deep packet inspection.

  • Publication number: 20090110184
Abstract: A real loop and method for using the loop for testing sidetone signal level are provided. The loop is modeled from a coil of cable to represent a straight wire loop. Several conducting wires in a cable may be used. The cable may be configured in a coil and may have a first end and a second end exposed for electrical connections to an even number of wires. Each wire in the even number of wires may be capable of being identified as the same wire on each of the first and second ends of the cable. One or more pairs of wires in the even number of wires may be electrically connected to form an electrical loop. An electrical current passes in opposite directions in the wires in each pair of wires.

  • Publication number: 20090110183
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus for attenuating a dialing confirmation tone includes receiving an enable signal from a tactile user input device, generating at least one dual-tone multiple frequency (DTMF) tone, and communicating the at least one DTMF tone to a telephone line. The method further includes attenuating a signal level of the at least one DTMF tone by a predetermined amount to produce at least one attenuated dialing confirmation tone in response to receiving the enable signal, and communicating the at least one attenuated dialing confirmation tone to an audio output device.

  • Patent number: 6968053
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an acoustic signal transfer device for transferring an acoustic signal produced by a telephone handset in a test setup. The device comprises a handset holder, a microphone holder and an acoustic pathway that extends from the handset holder to the microphone holder. The handset holder supports a telephone handset and allows an acoustic signal to travel from the telephone handset to one end of the acoustic pathway. The microphone holder supports a microphone and allows an acoustic signal to travel from a second end of the acoustic pathway to the microphone. A system and method for utilizing the acoustic signal transfer device in a radio frequency immunity test for a telephone are also disclosed.
