Publication number: 20140281283Abstract: Efficient techniques using a multi-port shared non-volatile memory are described that reduce latency in memory accesses from dedicated function specific processors, such as a modem control processor. The modem processor preempts a host processor that is accessing data from a multi-port shared non-volatile memory flash device allowing the modem processor to quickly access data in the flash device. The preemption process uses a doorbell interrupt initiated by a processor that seeks access and interrupts the processor being preempted. After preemption, the host processor may resume or restart the data access. Access control by the processors utilizes a hardware semaphore atomic control mechanism. Power control of the shared non-volatile memory modules includes at least one inactivity timer to indicate when a supply voltage to the shared non-volatile memory modules can be safely reduced or turned off. Power may be restarted by any of the processors sharing the memory, allowing fast access to the data.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Assaf Shacham, Amit Gil, Erez Tsidon, Yanru Li, Azzedine Touzni

Publication number: 20130235861Abstract: Techniques for performing WLAN system scanning and selection are described. A terminal performs multiple iterations of scan to detect for WLAN systems. A scan list containing at least one WLAN system to detect for is initially determined For each scan iteration, a scan type may be selected from among the supported scan types. The selected scan type may indicate passive scan or active scan, frequency channels to scan, etc. A scan may be performed based on the selected scan type. Signal strength measurements are obtained for access points received during the scan and used to identify detected access points. After all scan iterations are completed, candidates access points are identified based on the scan results, e.g., based on the signal strength measurements for the detected access points and a detection threshold.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2013Publication date: September 12, 2013Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Srinivasan Balasubramanian, Anup Kuzhiyil, Amit Gil, Lalit Yerramilli Raju, Luiza Timariu, Saravana Krishnan Kannan

Patent number: 8477715Abstract: Techniques for performing IP configuration after handoff in a WLAN are described. A station associates with a first access point in the WLAN and performs IP configuration to obtain a first set of IP configuration parameters. The station thereafter exchanges data via the first access point using the first set of IP configuration parameters. The station performs handoff from the first access point to a second access point and performs IP configuration after the handoff. While the IP configuration is in progress, the station continues to exchange data via the second access point using the first set of IP configuration parameters. This avoids interruption in IP connectivity. After completing the IP configuration, the station either (i) continues to exchange data using the first set of IP configuration parameters if new parameters are not obtained or (ii) exchanges data using a second set of IP configuration parameters if obtained.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2007Date of Patent: July 2, 2013Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Henri Dagbegnon Bahini, Amit Gil, Lalit Yerramilli Raju, Anup Kuzhiyil

Patent number: 8385910Abstract: A test system emulates the analog processing portion of a communication device and adjusts input signals based on distortions specified by a user and control signals generated by a baseband processing portion of the communication device. The distortions can be specified in terms of the baseband. One or more of the control signals can be bypassed to investigate the effect of each of the control signals alone, or in various combinations. An operator interface can be provided that allows the user to set up and conduct the tests, and monitor the results. Facilities are also provided to allow the reference voltage at the baseband processing portion to be adjusted while maintaining the appropriate reference voltage for components in the test system.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2004Date of Patent: February 26, 2013Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Shahbaz Nazrul, Suhas A. Patent number: 8228865Abstract: Techniques to efficiently search for a WLAN are described. A terminal receives country information from a wireless wide area network (WWAN), which may be a cellular network or a broadcast network. This country information may be a Mobile Country Code (MCC) that is broadcast by the WWAN. The MCC identifies the country in which the WWAN is deployed. The terminal then performs active scan for a WLAN based on the country information received from the WWAN. For the active scan, the terminal determines a frequency channel and a transmit power level based on the country information. The terminal then transmits a probe request on the frequency channel and at the transmit power level determined based on the country information. The terminal may perform passive scan and/or active scan in accordance with a scan setting.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2006Date of Patent: July 24, 2012Assignee: Qualcomm IncorporatedInventors: Deepak Khandelwal, Amit Gil, Rotem Cooper

Patent number: 8223729Abstract: Techniques for selecting a radio interface for an application are described. A terminal identifies locally-addressable and globally-addressable wireless networks among wireless networks available to the terminal. Radio interfaces supported by the terminal may be prioritized based on the locally-addressable and globally-addressable wireless networks, information obtained for the application, the application type, etc. Different applications may have different radio interface preferences or requirements, which may be considered in prioritizing the radio interfaces. A suitable radio interface may be selected for the application based on the prioritized radio interfaces. WLAN interface may be selected for the application if (a) the WLAN interface is preferred and any WLAN is acceptable to the application or (b) a globally-addressable WLAN is available. A WLAN interface may be selected for the application if a globally-addressable WLAN is not available.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2007Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Lalit Yerramilli Raju, Amit Gil, Henri Bahini Dagbegnon, Anup Kuzhiyil
