  • Publication number: 20170064573
Abstract: A method in a radio network node is disclosed for handling positioning data in a radio communications network, which radio network node serves a user equipment in a cell. The radio network node obtains positioning data from the user equipment, which positioning data is associated with a positioning measurement for positioning the user equipment. The radio network node associates the obtained positioning data with an on-going trace session of the user equipment. The radio network node then sends a trace record to a network management node, which trace record includes information associated with the positioning data.

  • Patent number: 9491285
Abstract: A technique of generating statistics for a performance metric of a mobile communications network is presented. The performance metric depends on at least a first parameter and a second parameter, wherein the first and second parameters each can be categorized in two or more non-overlapping sets of parameter values. Different combinations of first and second parameter value sets are defined. A method implementation of the technique comprises receiving performance metric values, first parameter values and second parameter values. A particular performance metric value is associated with the first and second parameter values prevailing when the particular performance metric value was acquired. The method further comprises identifying groups of performance metric values for which the associated first and second parameter values match the first and second parameter value sets of an individual combination, and generating the performance metric statistic from the identified groups of performance metric values.

  • Patent number: 9461886
Abstract: A set of reporting features are specified for implementation by lower-level Self-Optimizing Network (SON) functions to support the observation of network SON algorithms by high-level SON functions (e.g., OAM functions). The lower-level SON functions may be operative to adjust local parameters related to the network element serving area and/or capacity. The reported SON algorithm events and measurements can be defined such that they can be used by the higher-level SON function to resolve conflicts and control the lower-level SON functions. Some embodiments specify SON function reporting features and their configuration in the framework of the 3GPP defined Itf-N interface specification.

  • Publication number: 20160198394
Abstract: Techniques for maintaining rules for identifying network services are presented. The network services exchange data packets with mobile terminals wirelessly connected to a network. The network receives reports from a subset of the mobile terminals. The reports indicate network services used by the reporting mobile terminals. Various corresponding methods including the network associating one or more first data packets with one of the network services based on the reports. The first data packets originate from, or are addressed to, the reporting mobile terminals. The network derives or adapts, based on data included in the first data packets, one or more rules for identifying the network service based on data included in second data packets. The second data packets are different from the first data packets.

  • Patent number: 9338710
Abstract: A method is implemented in an anchor eNodeB of a network, where the anchor eNodeB communicates with a self-backhauled eNodeB via a radio interface and where the network further includes another eNodeB. The method includes determining whether a user equipment (UE) is being handed off from the first self-backhauled eNodeB to the other eNodeB. The determining is based on: receiving (820) a message from the self-backhauled eNodeB via the radio interface instructing the anchor eNodeB to stop delivering packets that are destined for the UE, or sniffing (1 105, 1 1 10, 1 1 15) into one or more messages sent from the self-backhauled eNodeB to the other eNodeB to identify that the UE is being handed off from the self-backhauled eNodeB to the other eNodeB. The method further includes storing (1 120), based on the determination of whether the UE is being handed off, received packets intended for the UE: and forwarding (1 120) the stored packets to the other eNodeB via a transport network for delivery to the UE.

  • Patent number: 9325568
Abstract: A technique for determining a correlation among events occurring in one or more network elements is provided. The correlation among the events results from a propagation of a root event through communication entities of the one or more network elements. In a method implementation the technique comprises the step of receiving a plurality of event messages from one or more network elements, wherein an event message pertaining to an event reported by a particular network element signals an occurrence context, the occurrence context comprising one or more context identifiers describing an internal communication state of the communication entity in which the event occurred at the time when the event occurred. In another step, a set of correlated events linked by identical context identifiers is determined. Based on the set of correlated events, the root event may be identified.

  • Patent number: 9277047
Abstract: A method includes: a) assigning, at a MME, after initiation of a user session of an UE, a correlation ID to the user session; b) defining, at the MME, in response to an initiation of a first trace session of the UE during the user session, a first mapping correlation which maps a first trace ID reflecting the first trace session, to the correlation ID, and sending the first mapping correlation to a TCE; and c) defining, at the MME, in response to an initiation of a second trace session of the UE during the user session, a second mapping correlation which maps a second trace ID reflecting the second trace session, to the correlation ID, and sending the second mapping correlation to the TCE. The first and second mapping correlation enable the TCE to assign trace session information to the user session.

  • Publication number: 20160057734
Abstract: A system includes a self-backhauled eNodeB which communicates via a radio interface with an anchor eNodeB, where the self-backhauled eNodeB is made reachable in an operator's network via a serving gateway and where the serving gateway of the self-backhauled eNodeB owns an IP address associated with the self-backhauled eNodeB. The system receives a packet destined for the self-backhauled eNodeB and classifies the packet to a bearer associated with a self-backhauled link to the self-backhauled eNodeB.

  • Patent number: 9241241
Abstract: A method in a first radio network node for handling position measurements is provided. The first radio network node receives from a second radio network node a position measurement associated with a user equipment, and a system frame number. The system frame number is associated with the second radio network node. The system frame number is further related to a point in time when the position measurement was performed. The first radio network node calculates a position estimate of the position of the user equipment based on the position measurement. The first radio network node defines a time stamp which is based on the received system frame number. The first radio network node then signals to a third radio network node a positioning response. The positioning response comprises the position estimate and the time stamp.

  • Patent number: 9088337
Abstract: The embodiments of the present invention relate to methods and apparatuses (600, 700) for coordinating interference in a telecommunications LTE based system. According to exemplary embodiments, an apparatus acting as a macro radio base station (eNB) (600) is configured to decide on what radio resources to schedule to its UEs and further decide on what resources to leave unutilized. Information on the decided resources is further transmitted in an interference coordinate signalling message, to at least one relay node (RN) (700) via at least one layer (1) control channel. The interference coordination signalling message will assist the RN (700) to make its own scheduling decision based on the information in the signalling message.
