  • Patent number: 9719799
Abstract: An electronic flight bag for an aircraft includes a display device and a processing system. The display device is operable to render various images. The processing system is in operable communication with the display. The processing system is configured to receive various types of data from various aircraft systems and is operable, upon receipt of the data, to supply display commands to the display device that cause the display device to automatically render various images. These images may include, among other things, flight manual pages, checklists, approach charts, maintenance data, and various navigation displays. The electronic flight bag may also implement the functions of various other aircraft systems and devices.

  • Publication number: 20160196655
Abstract: A photo localization application is configured to determine the location that an image depicts relative to a 3D representation of a structure. The 3D representation may be a 3D model, color range scan, or gray scale range scan of the structure. The image depicts a particular section of the structure. The photo localization application extracts and stores features from the 3D representation in a database. The photo localization application then extracts features from the image and compares those features against the database to identify matching features. The matching features form a location fingerprint, from which the photo localization application determines the location that the image depicts, relative to the 3D representation. The location allows the user to better understand and communicate information captured by the image.

  • Patent number: 9330501
Abstract: A system and method for augmenting panoramic images with performance related data for a building are disclosed. The system includes a memory coupled to a processor configured to receive panoramic image data, generate a digital image based on the panoramic image data, and modify the digital image to include a graphical representation of the performance related data. The processor maps performance related data to the coordinate system of the panoramic images such that the graphical representation may be generated without converting the panoramic image data into a high-quality, three-dimensional model in a CAD program. In this way, computer-generated graphical representations of building performance data, such as temperature fields or virtual structures, may be overlaid directly onto a two-dimensional projection of the panoramic image data. In one embodiment, the panoramic image data is a spherical, 360 degree panoramic image captured by a laser scanning device.

  • Publication number: 20150339029
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for manipulating graphics objects within a display viewed by an end-user is disclosed. The method involves: receiving motion information generated in response to the end-user moving an object that is external to the display; determining at least one zone of motion in which the end-user moves the object; determining a first motion type associated with the movement of the object within the at least one zone of motion; and based on the at least one zone of motion and the first motion type, determining at least one change to a viewpoint associated with one or more graphics objects displayed to the end-user within the display. The at least one change to the viewpoint causes an alteration in how the one or more graphics objects are displayed to the end-user within the display.

  • Publication number: 20150262487
Abstract: The various examples disclosed herein relate to systems, methods, and equipment that provide location and velocity monitoring of both a user's vehicle and another vehicle to avoid collision. The examples are applicable for using on-board telematics units to process that information and provide additional information based thereon such as the probability of collision. In some examples, if the chances of collision are high based on information received, warnings may be given to the vehicle's user. Based on these warnings, the user may take evasive maneuvers to reduce the probability of collision and prevent it. In other examples, if the chances of collision are high, the vehicle may decelerate without prompting from the user to minimize the impact of the collision. Any emergency reporting by the telematics unit, e.g. if a collision still occurred, may be enhanced with the relative location and velocity data from some interval the prior to emergency.

  • Patent number: 9106803
Abstract: An accessory device, such as a mobile telematics unit, captures tags for user desired media content items from a content broadcast, such as a digital radio broadcast or television broadcast. Each tag provides one or more parameters for identification of a song or other audio selection. The accessory device sends each tag over a mobile communications network air interface, with an identifier of an account of a mobile communications network subscriber. A server receives such tag transmissions and compiles a list of one or more tags directly from the accessory device, for the subscriber on the identified mobile service account. In some situations, the server generates a playlist from the stored list of tags and communicates at least a portion of the playlist to a personal media device, upon access by the personal media device to the subscriber's account.

  • Patent number: 9070402
Abstract: An interactive 3D presentation system that utilizes a collection of shots or motion views where each shot can include a combination of a camera view and camera action. A visual transition, such as a fade, can be presented at the end and beginning of sequential shots. Between the end point of a first shot and the beginning of a sequential shot, the scene is not shown. The system allows interactive authoring and/or viewing a 3D visual experience composed by defining a collection of shots where each shot is a combination of a camera view point of interest (POI) plus a camera motion path. The POI is placed on the path in a variety of ways where it can be at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of the path. A collection of predefined, cinematically styled camera motion paths, such as a crane and track shots, can be made available to the author. The pacing and duration of each shot can be adjusted.

  • Publication number: 20150181419
Abstract: A customer is permitted to self-activate a mobile device purchased via a commercial sales channel. Upon powering on the mobile device, the mobile device establishes a restricted service session through the network to a self-activation service and the mobile device queries the self-activation service for any pending order related to the mobile device which may have been generated during the purchase process. The communications with the self-activation service, however, support completing the pending order, activating the mobile device and communicating to the user that activation is complete. Part of the activation procedure configures one or more network elements to provide service for the device in a normal unrestricted manner. When provisioning is complete, the restricted access configuration used to establish the session with the self-activation service is removed.

  • Patent number: 9060275
Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for synchronizing automated reply configuration settings between different messaging services for an individual user of a mobile device. User account information and an authentication key are registered at a server of a first messaging service associated with the mobile device and a second messaging service associated with a client of the second messaging service. In response to a request for access to an automated reply function of the first messaging service from the client of the second messaging service, it is determined whether or not the client is authorized for access based on a comparison of authentication information included in the client's request with the authentication key registered for the mobile device. If the client is authorized successfully, the client is allowed to access the automated reply function in accordance with configuration information specified in the request from the client.
