  • Patent number: 8665260
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for providing an end user with a multiscale three-dimensional (3D) navigation experience in design software application programs. An adaptive multiscale 3D navigation system allows an end user to transition between a planetary scale down to an individual building scale. The end user may navigate within the building, inspecting object details within the building. The size of the environment is sensed automatically, and the viewing and travel parameters are adjusted accordingly to provide the end user with a seamless navigation experience. A consistent navigation experience is supported at various scales, and real-time collision detection is provided. Scale computation for 3D scenes and collision detection may be based on a generated depth cubemap of the environment.

  • Publication number: 20140049537
Abstract: A system and method for augmenting panoramic images with performance related data for a building are disclosed. The system includes a memory coupled to a processor configured to receive panoramic image data, generate a digital image based on the panoramic image data, and modify the digital image to include a graphical representation of the performance related data. The processor maps performance related data to the coordinate system of the panoramic images such that the graphical representation may be generated without converting the panoramic image data into a high-quality, three-dimensional model in a CAD program. In this way, computer-generated graphical representations of building performance data, such as temperature fields or virtual structures, may be overlaid directly onto a two-dimensional projection of the panoramic image data. In one embodiment, the panoramic image data is a spherical, 360 degree panoramic image captured by a laser scanning device.

  • Publication number: 20130329878
Abstract: A call forwarding server in a telephony network is configured to provide an authorization function during activation of a call forwarding service. In response to receiving a forwarding request including initiating and terminating telephone numbers (TN), the call forwarding server generates and sends a request for the terminating TN to obtain authorization for the forwarding service. In response to receiving an authorization response for enabling call forwarding, the call forwarding server enables call forwarding for the initiating TN by updating a call forwarding record to include an entry including the initiating TN and the terminating TN. Communications placed to the initiating TN are automatically forwarded to the terminating TN once the forwarding service is enabled.

  • Publication number: 20130163739
Abstract: A conference calling system enables transfer of control of a conference bridge. The transferor terminal has an option to transfer control of the conference bridge to a transferee terminal. The transferee terminal has an option to accept or reject control of the conference bridge. When the transferee terminal accepts control prior to the transferor terminal severing control, the control of the conference bridge is transferred to the transferee terminal. However, when the transferee terminal rejects or does not accept within a predetermined time the control of the conference bridge, the transferor terminal is provided an option to transfer control of the conference bridge to alternate terminals, one terminal at a time, until an alternate terminal accepts control or the transferor terminal severs control of the conference bridge. As long as a terminal has control of the conference bridge, the conference bridge is not severed.

  • Patent number: 8339257
Abstract: A firearm equipped with a capability of wireless communication reports a discharge of the firearm to a reporting center terminal via a wireless communication link. The firearm includes a firearm housing including a trigger assembly. A sensor is coupled to the firearm housing for sensing the discharge of the firearm. The housing, e.g., portion of a pistol grip, also encases a wireless communication unit for transmitting a message indicating occurence of the firearm discharge to the terminal via wireless communication network. A GPS receiver installed in the firearm receives GPS signals from GPS satellites to enable calculation of the location of the firearm, either at the firearm or by a Position Determining Equipment (PDE), to identify the location of the firearm to the reporting center terminal. Upon detection of the discharge of the firearm, the firearm initiates activities of the GPS receiver and the wireless communication unit.

  • Publication number: 20120296609
Abstract: A system and method for displaying a unified representation of performance related data for a building are disclosed. The system includes a sensor network for collecting data in the building and a computing device for generating and displaying a unified representation of performance related data on a display. The performance related data may include the raw data collected by the sensor network or data generated by simulation programs based on the raw data collected by the sensor network. The computing device displays the performance related data in the context of a graphical representation of a three-dimensional model of the building as defined in a building information model (BIM). The computing device generates the graphical representation using an ambient occlusion rendering technique and then incorporates the performance related data either using a direct rendering technique or a transient geometry technique.

  • Publication number: 20120281534
Abstract: A packet data serving node (PDSN) manages sessions between mobile devices and a packet-based network. The PDSN sends requests to and receives responses from an authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) server. The PDSN includes a packet session manager configured to create, maintain, and terminate the sessions between mobile devices and the packet-based network. The PDSN also includes a global AAA manager configured to determine latency in communication between the PDSN and the AAA server based on latencies of responses to at least two requests which the PDSN sends to the AAA server. • Publication number: 20120265506
Abstract: A method and apparatus for simulating occupant behavior in buildings may be used to predict the energy use of a building structure. The activities of actual building occupants are recorded and provided as an input to the occupant behavior simulation. The occupant behavior simulation generates simulated occupant schedules with similar behavioral patterns. An arbitrary set of factors can be used to select plausible activity types, durations, and numbers of participants during an occupant behavior simulation. The simulated occupant schedules may then be incorporated into a building performance simulation to help architects predict the energy demand associated with different building design options.

  • Publication number: 20120256834
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for manipulating graphics objects within a display viewed by an end-user is disclosed. The method involves: receiving motion information generated in response to the end-user moving an object that is external to the display; determining at least one zone of motion in which the end-user moves the object; determining a first motion type associated with the movement of the object within the at least one zone of motion; and based on the at least one zone of motion and the first motion type, determining at least one change to a viewpoint associated with one or more graphics objects displayed to the end-user within the display. The at least one change to the viewpoint causes an alteration in how the one or more graphics objects are displayed to the end-user within the display.
