  • Patent number: 6199961
Abstract: A vehicle brake system which permits both anti-lock control and different controls of independent force braking operations. In an independent force braking operation, a starting brake pressure is built up in the return circuit in the wheel brakes by way of a precharging pressure generator and the pump and is modulated in the following control phase according to the control algorithms of the selected control. Interposed between the precharging pressure generator and the return pump is a change-over valve which has three switching positions, i.e., one closed, one open, and one throttled. The change-over valve adopts its open position in the filling phase and its throttled position in the control phase. It is so configured that the switching position is achieved as a function of the initial pressure in the inlet chamber but independently of the actuating force which actuates the valve.

  • Patent number: 5984651
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hydraulic brake system which operates by the feedback principle during brake slip control operations and includes a self-priming pump that aspirates pressure fluid from a pressure fluid reservoir for traction slip control operations. In order to improve the delivery rate of the pump, having a parallel arrangement of the two suction valves, a special construction of the pump-assembly is proposed, wherein the two suction valves are integrated in the pump housing. Advantageously, the suction valves are in axially opposed relationship, and the first suction valve is arranged on the movable piston, and the second suction valve is connected with a screw cap. Further, a pump for a slip-controlled hydraulic brake system according to the present invention is suggested having at least one suction valve with a valve seat, a closure member and a valve spring, the preload of the valve spring being variable in response to the position of a delivery piston.

  • Patent number: 5626403
Abstract: A brake pressure regulator comprising a hydraulically actuable slide valve integrated in a receiving bore within the valve accommodating body. The slide valve, in response to the switching position of the electromagnetic valves, controls the pressure fluid volume between a pressure fluid source and a pressure fluid consumer. The pressure regulator includes pressure fluid channels terminating on both front faces of the slide valve which are hydraulically connected through an inlet valve to the pressure fluid consumer. Preferably the slide valve includes a circular groove provided with a control edge and interconnecting the pressure fluid source and the inlet valve through a feed-in channel. The invention employs the principle of preventing leakage flows from occurring by suitably arranging pressure fluid channels and sealing elements and by pointedly guiding the pressure fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 5609182
Abstract: A valve for high-pressure radial piston pumps suitable for controlled brake systems. Prior art pumps consist of at least 5 elements. The valve includes less components and thus is less expensive to manufacture and easier to assemble. The valve's simplicity derives from the use of cold extruded connections between the valve and the housing, so that separate rubber sealings are superfluous, and which provide for a strong and non-detachable connection. Favorable embodiments of the present invention integrate some of the known valve elements thus reducing the number of the necessary cold extruded connections.

  • Patent number: 5540487
Abstract: Following a general trend, the present invention provides an anti-locking hydraulic brake system to which a brake force controller has been added. However, as opposed to the prior state of art, the brake force controller (21) according to the invention is blocked only once the pump (18) builds up pressure. This means that in any uncritical deceleration, the brake force controller (21) performs its pressure reducing function as soon as the switch-over pressure thereof is attained. This will involve the advantage over other brake force controls actuated only upon failure of the anti-locking function that jamming or seizing of operative elements of the controller is prevented from occurring and that, in addition, a slip control will be required less frequently.

  • Patent number: 5522422
Abstract: A noise-minimized pressure reducing valve valve closure member an axial guiding tappet which is formed at its end as a spherical segment, and the diameter of which is adapted to the diameter of an inner bore in the control piston. Along with another valve tappet and a generous dimensioning of the cross-sections of flow passages, axial and radial vibrations of the valve closure member are effectively reduced or attenuated. To increase the tightness of the pressure reducing valve, for example, the closure member may comprise two closure elements, one of them is made of rubber, while the other one is made of metal. The metal closure element ensures exact pressure control, while the rubber closure element ensures increased tightness.

  • Patent number: 5460436
Abstract: A slip-controlled brake system for effectively attenuating switching noises at the inlet valves of slip control brake systems. This system is effective and simplifies current approaches. This is achieved in that for several wheel brakes the system uses one differential pressure limiter which is common to several wheel brakes which is mounted between an auxiliary pressure source and brake cylinder inlet valves. A reference pressure, which corresponds to one of the wheel brake pressures, is supplied to the differential pressure limiter by way of a pressure selector. The pressure selector can be designed such that it conveys either the highest or the lowest of the wheel brake pressures to the differential pressure limiter.

  • Patent number: 5417484
Abstract: A hydraulic change-over valve is adapted for a vehicle brake system with anti-lock control and traction slip control which operates according to the return delivery principle during an anti-lock control operation and the self-priming pump of which takes in pressure fluid through the master brake cylinder during a traction slip control operation. The change-over valve is arranged in the suction line between a pump and a master brake cylinder and shuts off the connection during each pedal-operated braking operation and opens it during each traction slip control operation. To avoid negative effects on the brake pedal feeling, restrictors are provided which prolong the closing time of the switch-over valve so that the fluid volume for switching is received gradually and continuously. The switching position is determined by a diaphragm, whose effective surface depends on its flexure to afford a non-stick-slip operation.
