  • Publication number: 20060193368
Abstract: A method of estimating the temperature of the air in the internal cavity of a tire in which: prior to normal operation, a series of running tests are carried out on the tire provided with a means of measuring the internal air temperature at given speeds V and external temperatures Tamb, the tire supporting a given load and the cavity being at a given internal relative pressure, and an adjustment is made to a function giving the temperature of the internal air Tai according to the parameters of speed and external temperature; and in normal operation, the tire equipping a vehicle under the above conditions of load and relative pressure, the internal air temperature is estimated according to the speed of the vehicle and the temperature external to the vehicle. The method ia applied to the detection of abnormal operating in particular of a running-flat system.

  • Patent number: 7047134
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of selecting, in real time, a soil stabilizing protocol for clay-bearing soils occurring in construction sites. The method includes the steps of: obtaining soil conductivity data values at locations within a defined site without disturbing the surface of the soil; correlating the soil conductivity data values with corresponding estimates of soluble sulfate levels; recommending a calcium-based soil stabilizing protocol if the estimated level of soluble sulfates is less than a predetermined threshold; and performing a laboratory analysis of soil samples from selected portions of the defined site when the estimated soluble sulfate concentration equals or exceeds the predetermined threshold.

  • Publication number: 20040241833
Abstract: The invention concerns a method wherein the substrate (5) to be coated is immersed in an autocatalytic chemical deposit bath (4), for example nickel, contained in a stainless steel vessel (1) and wherein can be optionally mixed a suspended MCrAlY alloy, so as to form a metal deposit (nickel) wherein are optionally included powder particles. The invention is characterised in that, to provide a prolonged operation of the bath, it consists in measuring with a voltmeter (8) the difference of potential between the substrate (5) and a reference electrode (6) immersed in the bath (4), and in imposing between the substrate (5) and the vessel (1) an electric current produced by a generator (10), said current being adjusted by a regulator (11) so as to maintain said potential difference at a selected value.

  • Patent number: 5110980
Abstract: Hypochlorite digestion of bacterial biomass to recover intracellular poly-.beta.-hydroxylalkanoic acid (PHA) has not been used on a large scale since it has been widely reported to severely degrade the polymer. The process of the invention proposes to optimize the initial biomass concentration, the digestion time and pH of the hypochlorite solution to minimize degradation. Consequently, PHA of up to 95% purity with an average molecular weight of 600,000 can be recovered from biomass initially containing PHA having a molecular weight of 1,200,000. By incorporating a pretreatment step with an anionic surfactant solution, PHA of 99% purity with a molecular weight of 1.20.times.10.sup.6 was obtained from biomass containing 57% PHA by weight with an initial molecular weight of 1.25.times.10.sup.6.
