    Abstract: Early detection of lysosomal storage diseases (LSDs) including Mucopolysaccharidosis Type I (MPS I) and Pompe Disease can greatly improve patient outcome as each disease can be fatal once symptoms emerge. Screening for MPS I and Pompe Disease using biological samples including dried blood spots (DBS), buccal swab, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), or white blood cells (WBCs) is described. The disclosed methods and assays provide a robust way to screen newborns for LSDs. The disclosed methods and assays can also allow rapid prediction of whether a patient with LSD will develop an immune response to enzyme replacement therapy (ERT), thus improving treatment for patients with LSDs. The disclosed methods and assays can also further reduce the number of false positives caused by pseudo deficiency cases of LSD, such as MPS I and Pompe Disease.

    Abstract: Improved control of via anchor profiles in metals at a contact layer can be achieved by slowing down an anchor etching process and by introducing a passivation operation. By first passivating a metallic surface, etchants can be prevented from dispersing along grain boundaries, thereby distorting the shape of the via anchor. An iterative scheme that involves multiple cycles of alternating passivation and etching operations can control the formation of optimal via anchor profiles. When a desirable anchor shape is achieved, the anchor maintains structural integrity of the vias, thereby improving reliability of the interconnect structure.

The phase-change flame-retardant fiber material is prepared in a coaxial electrostatic spinning manner and includes a composite phase-change fiber material PASA-TPU at a core part and a flame-retardant fiber material TB-PAN wrapping a surface of the core part. The composite phase-change fiber material is well wrapped with the flame-retardant fiber material, and the lithium ion battery wrapping the whole phase-change flame-retardant fiber material in the closed space is subjected to charge-discharge cycle; the result shows that the surface temperature of the battery can be effectively reduced by about 20° C.
